A Tribe Called Quest.
To those in the know, there is no finer Hip-Hop group.
Is it that I am right?

Re: A Tribe Called Quest.
You asume that Hip-Hop groups can be fine. I cannot set my mind into that assumption thus I cannot say if you are wrong or right.
However, you could be left.

Re: A Tribe Called Quest.
I agree Weeks. They are amazing.
Dead Prez are good too though.
I'm also very keen on RJD2, but his music is quite different.

Re: A Tribe Called Quest.
Yeah the first 4 tracks on "Since We Last Spoke" by RJD2 are just amazing.
I'll give Dead Prez a listen. But,

There's something historically significant about witnessing two brothers dipped in fatigues, spitting Black nationalist rhetoric on the mic, gracing the very same stage Black opera singer Marian Anderson was once prohibited from playing.

sounds a bit rubbish. I like a Tribe Called Quest because they're positive. Nationalism isn't a postive thing in my opinion.

Re: A Tribe Called Quest.
The main albums of Dead Prez are quite nice, but the mixtapes are shit (they have taken the whole blackpower thing way to far, thus destroying all the good work on the proper albums in my eyes*) Immortal Teqnique (or something) is a much better political rapper (like, "even if racism bleeds america, we need to realize that class is the real issue") but he's not very talented in the rapping department, sadly
Oh and A Tribe Called Quest is pretty ace. However, Sugarhill Gang is the best rap group ever, and anybody who does not recognize this is a wigger.
*But they do say that they mean to illustrate a point when talking about the "white man", not that they dislike whites in general but use it as a illustration of those in power (a correct one, to be honest, even if it sadly smells to much of racism)

Rapper's Delight is probably the only rap song I'll voluntarily listen to, as opposed to the other crap where I run screaming at my tv with an axe when it comes on.

I thoroughly recommend you review this ideology and start listening to some of the truly superb stuff that came out in the last 80's and early 90's (pre-vanilla Ice basically).
Additonally, bear in mind that Rap doesnt have to have a specific style of music behind it, its a style of singing (such as it is). Hence , Rock/Rap combos can be incredible to listen to (grab some early Bodycount stuff).
