This game, this damn game
Now I have been playing this game for pretty much as long as I can remember, I started in R2 and haven't missed a tick since. I have enjoyed mixed successes, four t250 finishes, three gal t50 finishes, being owned by NoS in R8 (*waves to Lars*)...
R10 has been a mixed bag for me (any worthwhile alliance intel dept. can get my coords, if you're curious ask yours) and until today I'd been chugging along nicely. However today FAnG started an increasingly fierce campaign against my planet and it got to the stage where I felt like I could take no more. I decided I had had enough and went to #fang throw in the towel and to congratulate them. I know it's just business and all that, but I felt like I could take no more. However, I was surprised by the response. At least three of FAnG command then tried to talk me out of quitting. (*Gets PMd by a fourth member of FAnG command as he types.*) The four of them and one other very special person managed to make me realise this game isn't all about how many roids and ships you have, about your allies and your enemies, about cybering like hell for JGPs as you're ETA 25 seconds from landing, there's more to it than that. This game is about this fantastic community of weird and wonderful people who make this game what it is, be they allies or enemies.
Now FAnG may have won a glance at my roids, but the battle is far from over. And what is more, I intend to do all I can to make this a challenging, addictive and above all else enjoyable round for all. Understandably my best wishes are with my alliance, who I love very much, but I've opened my eyes somewhat today. May the best players win, I'll see you all on the battlefield.

Re: This game, this damn game
I've lost almost as many roids as I've gained this round (duh stupid xto painting a target on his head), but I'm still here - alive and kicking. True, my fleet isn't exactly impressive, and I won't be near the top 10 without some hardcore cybering on someone loose about their login details( ), but I'm still here every night.
****ing addictive game.

I'm glad we had that talk m8. As FAnG HC I should encourage you, eclipse HC, to quit this game. It'd only benefit my alliance as it would benefit any of your enemies. But that's not what this game is about. This a wargame yes, but whatever happens on the battlefield is just that, what happens on IRC is much more.
I've always got along great with you and I thinks it's only normal that me and others in my alliance don't wish to ruin this game for you. And yes, I might regret it later and curse things as "damn we should have forced him out" but that would only be on the battlefield.
I'm glad I could partly help you to decide not to quit and I'll be happy to chat with you in the future and fight against/with you on the battlefield.

I live, no time for PA these days, well I might have time, I just don't want to waste it on PA anymore.. Have a houseparty at my place starting in 11 minutes, if people are fashionably late I'll be unfashionably panicy hope you're enjoying life! point is, I've not commited suicide which might be considered a more expected explanation for my disappearance

Re: This game, this damn game
Here's some correspondence i had with a guy on exactly this subject about 2 weeks ago. This is actually all the more ironic since he was in your gal - and now I know why you got hit so much.
Fangers are just nice ppl, what can I say
From: XXXXXX XXXXX (X:X:X) Subject: Hope you realise Sent: Fri Oct 10 18:08:49 2003
Can u please ask for me. I am going to try and re download irc but for now I'm completly looked out of my comp. using my sisters.
Spunky
---------------------
I missed this msg.
This may seem harsh on you but you were being hit because you have EET in your galaxy. The fact is if you have strong alliances in your gal you are usually saved from their attacks but become more of a target by the other side. For each gal like yours there is a FaNFG gal that gets hit consantly by EET.
Anyway that doesn't help you, this might: If you really feel that way join #fang on irc, speak to an op and explain how you feel. Ask if you can have a planetary nap. It is possible you would be granted one and it has happened before. You would have to not be in an EET alliance and unfortunately wouldn't be able to defend fang incoming on your gal (btw afain you were defending an eclipse planet). Fang aren't about going putting people out the game and many of the HC will try to help. If you get no joy speak to me again and I can ask, although I am not that significant.
Mangor.
---------------------
Got to the stage with PaX where I don't care this gal gets attacked at least every other day by Fang so I'm quiting anyway. If I can take some Fang preferably but any ships attacking the gal then thats a plus. Sorry if ur not Fang I can't be arsed to find out but I'm tired of being there roid farm. That little rant can be put as yeah ur probably destroy all my ships but look at me care...

Re: This game, this damn game
RealJames: Even if you probably don't know me, you are one of the few PA players I have respected alot for a long time, and I have spoken foundly of you to many friends, especially when encouraging them to not leave the game.
Your attitude in the incident you mention in R8 really made an impact on me... Being owned, smile and say 'Well Played', and then keep playing and rebuild a rather decent planet that same round, earned my respect!
We should all be like you m8
PS: If anyone did me like that I'd probably curse them to forever darkness tho! (/me kills ToT)

Young Padawa, did I not teach you well enough. This is a trap by the rest of the community, putting you into a false belief that the rest believes you and bites your trap. Altho I am confused what I am actually trying to say here and what is actually coming out ¿? Shoot me please.

Yup, Brighton, named after a road that I used to live on (Brighton Grove, Fallowfield, Manchester, UK).
Yes, I'm still having fun, I get incomings pretty much every night.
