Do you believe that people are born genetically gay?
Do you believe that people are born genetically gay? And that homophobia is something that should be stamped on and erradicated because it is not the fault of the gay the way they were born?
If thats the case, do you not also buy into the notion that a racist is also born racist and has no control over the way they are?
In such a case, shouldn't we be tolerating and protecting these people and pandering to their needs in just the same way be now do gays?

no, for being gay and beoing racism are two different things, ideology wise, homosexuality is acceptable, as you do not force your belief's upon anyone else, but racism is un-acceptable and inherently, you force your views on others, which is wrong.

In this case, why should a rasict be treated any differently to a gay?

Using racism as an example is pretty crap.
Paedophiles would be a better example.
I think that homos are born gay, I think that paedos are too. Yet we accept homosexuality but not paedophilia. Reason being that being gay is a lifestyle that does not negatively affect other people's lifestyle. Being a paedo does though since you have sex with little kids which will end up scarring them for life, or more often than not end up with them dead.
Tolerating someone's behaviour has nothing to do with whether they chose their behaviour or not. It depends on how that behaviour affects other people.

Some people might be born gay. It's just a theory with no real proof either way.
Anyway, sexual preference is profoundly different to ideological attitude. However, so what if some people are born more likely to be hostile to outsiders?
What if people are born more likely to commit crimes? Does this mean we forgive crimes? I don't hate racists any more than anyone else. But obviously if one get's in the way of human liberation, then obviously we need to do what needs to be done.

There is no single gene that dictates whether you are gay or straight, however there has been some highly controversial research (i cant find a link to it atm) saying that male homosexuality might be linked to a number of genes on the Y chromosome. Having a particular genetic makeup would not certainly make you homosexual, it would just give you a genetic predisposition to being homosexual, whether or not you became straight or gay would depend on your envirnment. This doesnt explain lesbians as its Y-linked which is one of the many reasons it is highly controversial but i thought i would mention it anyway.

no, your talking crap, the difference between the two is plain to see, was someone does within their own home, with the consent of the other person involved is fine by me, however someone who is racism cannot keep their views to themselves, and will pressure others and try to impose their belief system upon others around them which is wrong

Im sorry, but there is no difference. What you describe is exactly the same as homosexuality.
Do you know any gays? The majority are extrovert and constantly make you feel like your views are wrong if you happen to show any degree of disapproval.
They are now tolerated by society because people have been made to think that homophobes are in the wrong, I'd say that constitutes some degree of will forced upon others wouldnt you?

i really didnt think anyone was this ignorant, yes, actually, i know a lot of gay ppl, in fact, i am probably going out on the lash with 2 or 3 of them tomorrow night (a big group of us are going out cos everybody is back from uni etc)
and NO, none of them have EVER pressured me, or anyone else that i know of due to their sexual preferences.
the fact is, they have actually taken a hell of a lot of **** before when we have been out in town from intolerant ppl like your self, when they have not even said anything to them.

As far as homophobia goes i dont really care, but then i have never been at the other end of it. I generally accept that most people who are extremely homophobic are that way because they are battling with homosexual feelings within themselves and cannot cope with it so lash out. How is that any kind of proof? If one twin is musical and the other is athletic, no one questions the validity of that.
In a family of a friend of mine, the sister, the uncle and a cousin are gay. They had little contact, so there was no one "influencing" anyone else.

If it was genetic, the reduced success rate in reproduction suggests natural selection would make this gene rare. Apparently these hormone levels also influence the development of the digits of the fingers, that start to develop at that same time. It sounds a bit like handreading or astrology, but apparently this is the reason why most women have index fingers that are longer than or the same length as the ring finger, while most men have shorter index fingers. Lesbians turn out statistically to have shorter index fingers just like men. It sounds like nonsense, but I didn't make it up..
I don't know if the same is true for gay men, but as they often seem to be more girly than normal, it wouldnt surprise me...
