Two absolute bargains there for you. Ballack and Rosicky, one on a free to chelsea and one 1/3 of his original price to arsenal.

He's in Pro Evo 5 despite not really being at the club when the game was out.

Re: [Football] The Summer Transfer Window 2006
Wenger plucks a bargin from nowhere as usual
He's stated as a defensive midfielder, so wouldnt that make him competition for Gilberto, not Fabregas?
Also lets hope Wenger gets Torres, although I'm not sure what he'll do with Van Persie.

Re: [Football] The Summer Transfer Window 2006
I think Rosicky plays like Vieira. He charges forward.
I could be wrong though.

Re: [Football] The Summer Transfer Window 2006
We are after Zigic from Red Star Belgrade for £7M. Hopefully we will get D'Alessandro from Wolfsburg as well as he's nothing short of a ****ing genius.
Rosicky, bargain buy btw.

Re: [Football] The Summer Transfer Window 2006
reserve judgement on rosicky, i havent seen too much from him. None of you are even sure what position he is either, bbc calls him an attacking mid.
Have heard good things about gonzales, but i dont want to be too hopeful. Liverpool could kill for a world class right mid though

Skysports have an article comparing Pires and Rosicky. He looks pretty good.

Re: [Football] The Summer Transfer Window 2006
He was down as an attacking midfielder in champo. He was a solid all-round sort of midfielder stats wise though if I remember correcetly.

He doesn't play like that for the Czech Republic.
I think CM/FM is accurate; very good passing, reasonable other attacking stats.

Rosicky is class, hes a offensive midfielder, kind of a mix between Vieira and Aimar in offensiveness.

Re: [Football] The Summer Transfer Window 2006
I dont really see what Wenger wants with Rosicky. He is a lightweight, offensive player. Possibly using him as a winger? Only position I see where he could fit in. He is certainly not the type who is going to be handy in combat versus the likes of Bolton. As a player type he can, I belive, be compared to Hleb.
His reputation have also faded in the recent years, as he havent quite delivered in Dortmund.

Re: [Football] The Summer Transfer Window 2006
Arsenal just seem a bit airy and light about them, compared to say Man Utd. Id reckon Man Utd would win in a fight.

Isn't fat sol getting sold? Also you can't name four centre backs if you're trying to show you're not a lightweight team unless you play four centrebacks.

As jerome has said he is more of a playmaker, good at passing, dribbling, shooting, putting him on the wings would not be very clever.
Problem is, he was injured quite often and together with the rest of the Dortmund team was often pretty mediocre in the last two years.

Re: [Football] The Summer Transfer Window 2006
Well... this football thread seems as good as any other to announce the news (and we were talking about it in the BB thread and didn't want to go back in there):
Colin Calderwood has been announced as the new Nottingham Forest manager.
A lot of fans seem underwhelmed but he's done pretty well at Northampton. I guess it's a wait and see... Will he be a Boothroyd or a Platt?

bollocks he has. it's taken him two and a half seasons to get a super-rich club with an already excellent squad into the top three, and he is astoundingly inept tactically. Cobblers fans aren't mourning his loss, suffice to say.

To be honest - I've looked at a few Northampton Town forums, heard comments from a few fans and most of them are pretty sorry to see him go.
Ipswich fans are also a bit annoyed they didn't get him as well apparently.
But hey - if you can back yourself up I'd like to read it!
EDIT - it actually seems about half and half... but then again most fans at West Ham didn't like Pardew for a season and a half...
