It floated for about 30 minutes before I took it out of the bath. I should clarify though, the laptop in question is a Toshiba 480 CDT, and it might be the case that not all laptops float, but this one sure does. I wonder if that could be made into a sales feature?

No, it actually floated just under the water line, but with some modification by way of a waterproof casing, you could have a very versatile laptop that floats in the bath, and still works.
