So, Broadband
i might finally be getting Broadband at long last. so what i need to know is which Broadband provider is best for what i need? my requirements are:
1Mbps connection
less than £25 a month
NO ****ING USAGE ALLOWANCES (priority)

Good service for under £25 is gonna be difficult

DONT USE BULLDOG BROADBAND, they ****ing suck!


If you can stretch to £35 a month then I would recommend Nildram's 1meg ADSL

i believe central point (www.cpbb.co.uk) do what you want, but they're 26. they don't have a news server tho, but this has never struck me as a world ending problem.

I do tech support for Blueyonder.

Telewest are a bit shit as a company, but 4mbit/s for £50 per month (when they upgrade the network) isn't to be sneezed at. But whatever you do, don't get one of their wireless kits...

NTL are upgrading their 300k to 1mb in a few months and its only £17.99 a month, which fits your requirements. £25 would get you the 2mb connection.

Starbucks seems to think they might drop their useage limits, even though i've never heard of anyone getting a warning for downloading too much on NTL. I'm sure someone a few posts further down will say NTL are crap, but in 3 years in 4 different house and 4 new connections i've never had any problems with them.

well, my dad has got us a 1Mbps connection coming on the 1st Dec. trouble is, i think he's gone with Wannado who have a 2GB/month limit. So, what i need to know now is, are there any programs out there that will monitor how much i am using of the allowance?

I've gone for a nice 5 meg line which was 40 quid for the modem and 20 quid a month, no limits, got it shared with 2 other roomies, one of which just uses the internet to work on her website or play starcraft.

Then again I live in canada, where ISP's don't seem interested in taking the shirt off your back.

p.s. Had techinical issues, phoned them, in 5 minutes they booked a tech for the very next morning to come out and see me and assess the problem there and then. The tech arrived at 8 am and replaced the cable line as it appears squirrels had dug it up. Service has been

2GB/month is terrible. you couldn't even download half life 2 on that

yes, 2GB/month is terrible. Just aswell we've gone with BT Yahoo! (which has a 30GB limit) and the calculator wouldn't be helpful, unless i knew the size of every page i visit

Even thats not great as it includes the upload bandwith in the calculations. If you dare open a p2p client then your gonna see your allowence go down the drain.
