Trendy wristbands
The ones like the yellow Lance Armstrong campaign thing and the blue Anti-bullying campaign thing.
A lot of people including famous people are wearing one of these.
So Yay or Nay? Or uber-gay?

Re: Trendy wristbands
How does wearing a blue band stop bullying? Do bullys leave you alone if you wear one?
I dont see the point of the wristbands.

Re: Trendy wristbands
I don't see the point of them. The kids most likely to wear blue wristbands are the kids who want bullying to stop because either they are getting bullied themselves or because they genuinly care. Bullies themselves are unlikely to wear them or if they do they won't actually share the sentiment. In the end I reckon all that will happen will be that kids already getting bullied will get bullied even more if they DO wear the wristbands because it will make them stand out more.

Re: Trendy wristbands
I can see the logic behind it, but I doubt it'll work.
The problem is they generally get really shit celebs to endorse these campaigns, and they don't really convince anyone.
As always, appealing to prejudice would work better. Eminem (or some other rapper) could make a song about if you're a bully then you're gay. Then, in school assemblies anyone found to have bullied anyone else could have their photograph displayed in a huge powerpoint presentation with the word FAGGOT written under it, with said song played with it.

Actually I'd imagine it would discourage homophobes from bullying most of all.

Re: Trendy wristbands
I've had the Lance Armstrong one since I went to America and haven't taken it off since. It just replaced my beady braclet I used to wear. Fashionable? Nothing new.

It's more masculine than wearing a ribbon.
It shows you care and support the issue.

You might as well do something useful like donate some money to Cancer Research rather than just wear a band. I'm running a half-marathon for Cancer Research but i'm not going around with a blue band on.

Presumably you have to pay for one of these yellow(?) cancer armbands, thus you are donating, but you're also highlighting the problem to others.

Giving it up the ass to a man is more masculine than taking it up the ass from that man, but that doesn't make it less gay.

Re: Trendy wristbands
I watched Liverpool vs Arsenal yesterday and I noticed players like Gerrard and some few other Liverpool players were wearing the blue wristbands.
