mouse problem

sometimes when I turn my pc on the mouse pointer wont move which I assume is something to do with the driver, the only thing is when I restart it'll use the same driver and work fine! anyone know what would cause that? it can take about 3 restarts sometimes before it'll work and other times it'll work first time I turn my pc on. The mouse is a trust ami mouse optical 200 running in windows xp

You need to plug the mouse into the computer.

its not an optical connection it still uses a wire to connect to ps2 port. It also used to work fine so I dont think its cause of the mouse
