Holy Crap
I've just had the worlds best idea for a franchise business. Take a burger joint, take a car wash, blend the two, have a burger while your car is being washed.
GENIUS
So, who'd like what when I'm fabulously wealthy (so wealthy I make Idler look like runner-up in a 'worst dressed Hobo' competition' )

take the two industries which are closest to the brink of extinction due to the finite resources of their service and meld them together.

one day, one of you will have the balls to go through with it and hire a hitman.
The question is, which celebrity would you pick as a hitman with me the target if you could pick a celebrity.

There's an imminent first world shortage of beef, cheese, water and soap?

Beef at least... given the amount of water needed to provide the grain and land for the the beef cattle to mature and get fat on with relation to the nations that produce the most beef (hello drought stricken water importing USA and Debt Stricken Argentina), which will inevitably drive the price of beef rocketing up in about 20 years or so time, which is when you'll probably see petrol become a more expensive commodity too.
Oh yah Fresh water is rapidly becomming a finite resource too, of course everyone's too focussed on the oil to notice or care, Dasani anyone?

Re: Holy Crap
by the time fresh water actually becomes a real problem, desalienation will be a lot more advanced and cheaper.
as with everything else in our history, we will muddle through
EDIT: and sunday, do you actually only read one side of any argument or something? even i have read both sides to the fresh water argument, and i dont consider mysle fto be particularly 'up' on the current world problems

Re: Holy Crap
i eat while my car is being washed......
not necessarily a buger because tbh i dont trust burgers from gas stations (although i have eaten a few)....
its usually a sandwich and maybe some crisps. accompanied by a coke.
if im feeling rather adventerous i may even purchase some sweets.

Re: Holy Crap
See? This is the problem.
The whole idea revolves around teh fact that you sit down while your car is washed, dried and cleaned inside. This gives you time to have a proper meal, rather than crisps, sweets etc.
I reckon a carwash takes about 5 minutes anyway, if you add another five or ten on for the inside to be cleaned, you've got time to have a relaxing meal.
Simply pull up, order your carwash, hand over the keys/car is on conveyor belt, eat your food, collect car afterwards.
BRILLIANT

Re: Holy Crap
this only works if you have a scabby 'wouldnt want to steal it anyway' car that you dont mind be crawled all over by some 16yr old kid with grubby fingers.
do you take your RX8 to the carwash btw?
dad wont go near one in his car. its all hand washing .......
and waxing...
