intel gathering cov op mission
How about adding a cov-op mission which allows you to determine the target's alliance?

Re: intel gathering cov op mission
In my opinion, we should look into covert ops as a replacement for the scans system. So this could be an option for an additional covert operation.

that only works if you already know the alliance of the ppl defending, this would complement news scans but the usage is different.

Well, either your whole alliance is immune to covops, or defending vs this one is useless, since knowing 1 person's alliance means you can map the rest.

Might as well put a planet's alliance on the Galaxy page (which I'm not totally against anyway!)

I've been told in the past that scans are for finding out information where as covops are for causing damage.
