gmail boo
People probably heard of the G-Mail privacy crap but I found this link that covers it in-depth.
Might be worth the look.

Re: gmail boo
On this topic, does anyone still have any G-Mail invites? Or have they stopped giving them out now?
If you have one and would like to give it to me please PM

Re: gmail boo
If I get any, I'll let you know. I haven't gotten any though and rumor is that gmail will go public soon.
Oh and Androme, just to fuel the tin hat crap, Matt Cutts, one of google's main engineers, is a former NSA spook. All the craziness aside, there's absolutely nothing different between them and any of the other services out there, not even regular ISPs.

I had an invite the other day, first one for ages, but gave it away to someone else.

Re: gmail boo
is there any specifc number of emails you have to send/receive or such before you get to send an invite? haven`t got one for a while. Annoying how i have to just firefox just for gmail though, sooner they make it available for opera, the better.

Whoever made that deserves a rather large prize i'd never seen that before.
Thanks very muchly 1-X, although I think you know a bit too much about the internet (either that or have a lot of spare time!)

Re: gmail boo
If you believe your email isn't already being checked by whatever organisation, you're fairly naive.

Re: gmail boo
what gmail does aint too far off what spam filters do now anyways. just the spam filters use the info to determine if its spam or not. gmail uses it to deliver ads
i dunno what the hysteria over gmail is tbh. " oooh it reads our mail. its bad. "
thing is its an automated system - its not as if someone is sitting at a screen reading your emails manually, it scans the text for words, determines what the email is roughly about and puts up an ad relevent to the text. its all rather nice imo.
spam filters, for an example scan the text for a pattern of words. such as "viagra" or "penis enlargement", and marks them as spam

Re: gmail boo
GMX (a german freemail provider) increased their storage space to 1 gig as well... And nobody is angry with them I think
It's great, I like it.
I can even use this 1GB as online file storage via WebDAV (protocol... like the webfolder in Windows). 2 GB traffic per month are included. And you can create public links and share them with your friends.
