Remove vac mode
There's lots of stuff in this game that once had a purpose, but no longer.
1) VAC MODE!!!!!!
This was once useful when rounds were much longer. Now it's pretty much only used to dodge incs and abuse. Get rid of this crap once and for all. If you're gone for a couple of days set fleets to run and hide... if you're gone longer... play next round.
2) Quest system
This was supposed to make it easier for new players to start up correct? Currently it's more like the opposite. You have to know what order to do things in, blah blah blah. Useless crap. Get rid of it, give more research points in startup bonus if you feel its needed.

Re: Remove vac mode
I totally agree with Vac mode being useless in the games current format and have seen several galaxies and alliances abuse it in order to avoid mass incs.
I do not believe the quest system should be scrapped it is useful for new players, ive spent a lot of time in #bootcamp giving advice over the years and the feedback ive got from new players in regards to the quest system has been positive. However i think it does need an overhaul there should be rewards/incentives for completing each and ALL of the quests otherwise whats the point?
Also maybe there should be a link to an official start up guide for new players showing the standard 300 roid planet set up in the Welcome to Planetarion mail when u sign up, i think the one Light made some time ago still has some merit as a decent start up maybe a nice noob friendly version of that should be attached to the aforementioned welcome mail.

Re: Remove vac mode
I dont think you need to remove vac mode, but it would be in its Place to rename it due to how its being used.
The quest shouldve been changed ages ago.
Id suggest more active quests, like, "SK a top10 planet" or "roid a top alliance" or "roid a fenced gal", or something like that.
It would be fun for both New and old players.

Re: Remove vac mode
Vacation mode has little function these days. You can hide your ships. Your alliance can defend you. The advent of smart phones has made PA accessible for most people anywhere, anytime. And if you aren't huge, you can regain lost roids fairly easily. Considering how often it's simply used to avoid incomings, I see no real reason to keep it.
Quests, however, continue to fulfill their function of easing new players into getting a not-shitty planet, so I would not remove them. That said, it's silly that people who've played this game for years are forced to continue jumping through these hoops to get their planet running. Give accounts that have played more than 1 round a button that completes all quests that give rewards.

What provider are you with bastet? Most can transfer to EU for free but that's another story.
Well if we keep it, why not have a minimum of a week as vacation? No resources, nothing.

Re: Remove vac mode
How about if you are going on holiday then just take the round off.....
Or latesign or just covop or scan if you can't be without a planet.
Fact is vac mode is abused to avoid incs and has no place in the game now

Re: Remove vac mode
Vac mode isn't being abused, there are just alot of players who think they are outsmarting the system by going into vacmode, when they in 99/100 cases are ****ing themselves over
And if we want to stop people from ****ing themselves over, just make it so that it takes 12 ticks until the vac mode takes effect. Usually people know about their vacation 12 hours before it starts so shouldn't be a prob.

You don't even need to become immune. You just need high enough alert to discourage attackers. Even if you do get cov opped, the ship cov op is fairly harmless. You can get SKed, but there's SD now, and even if you don't have any, you can be defended, and even if you aren't, losing a handful of structures is more than made up for by 2+ weeks of income.

Re: Remove vac mode
In my opinion we could just keep vacation mode, surely it has a legit use also.
But, perhaps a tiny tweak could remove what is called abuse of it ?
If entering vacation mode comes with a delay, lets say the moment you hit vacation mode it comes with a delay. For example 12 ticks delay for it to actually become active.
- If you are actually going away on vacation or have a planned time away from PA, you normally should be able to know this 12 ticks in advance?
- It could be cancelled at any point within theese 12 ticks, seing it would not be active in any way until those 12 ticks have passed
- People using vac mode as a tactic to avoid significant incommings for a night now might not be able to do this effectivly, as all fleets already launched (not in PL) will land the planet if entering vacationmode.
In my opinion a simple little tweak, that might not require much changing at all to be put in effect, but has the upside of possibly removing a nice way of abusing vacation mode

Agreed with this.

This would open a possibility to misuse it so it might be better to not be able to cancel it at all..
If it can be canelled then it has to be monitor by someone on how many times you 'start' vacation mode only to cancel it 11 hours later..

Re: Remove vac mode
If vaca mode ISNT removed the 'last day vaca' mode should be removed ... being able to go into vaca mode aand only stay in it one night, if you go into vaca mode you should be forced to stay on 72 hours no matter what then taken out automatically ...

I'm not sure what you are suggesting here.
Vacation mode is removed for the last week of the round and has been for the last ... I don't know, 20 rounds at least? Maybe 30 or so.
If you go into vacation mode you're currently forced to stay in for 72 ticks - so you're saying you should be automatically taken out afterwards? i.e. you can only have a 3 day break?
P.S.
This is the suggestions forum not a playground for 10 year olds. Please stop with the personal attacks and squabbling.

Yes you see it a lot the last 'day of vacation mode' that its allowed, people will go into vacation mode to get one night off of incoming. basically a short penalty of income compared to the 72 hours normally required. I think it should still require you to stay in 72 hours even if you went in the last hour of it being allowed.

2 CT, 1 Rainbows and 1 Black Flag... not exactly abuse on a massive scale, but if you're determined to complain, I guess you will regardless...

Re: Remove vac mode
It's clear that it is being abused. 4 people is about 1% of the playerbase at this point xD
It has to go, simple simple.

Re: Remove vac mode
Yes night to friday 19th popular weekend for vacation, probably accidental it lines up with last day of vacation mode - meanin you only have to stay there <24 ticks...
Anyway we of Apprime and Norton Airlines wishes the following people a happy vacation
5-1-1 Bastet who have been in PA 14 years and only used vac mode twice according to himself. I am sure CT wishes you happy holidays and it is much deserved.
3-3-1 Exor of Rainbows I am sure it is much deserved for you to aswell.
Happy vacation on Hawai - this is for us 5th and 6th time we send someone to Hawaii - ALOHA!
P.S I am 110% sure it has nothing to do with them having significant PL from us, ofcourse not. This is definitly a planned vacation and nothing else

OK - leave of absence.
I just wish to underline that I in no way whatsoever believe vacation mode and significant PL from us was in any way, shape or form related to you entering vacation mode. I am 110% sure that was just a coincidence.
