Re: So...how are we voting in tomorrow`s euro elections...?
dante, because im brainwashed into believing simon hughes is actually a nice guy and would do good stuff. no idea about any policies in particular, but for some reason i have agreed with most things hes said along the way. unless its some sophisticaated mind control technique.
and ken because i dont want steve norris to win.

More efficient local councils, I believe.
And some eurosceptics in the european parliament to keep it in check.

well
if you vote for the respect coalition you are voting for a party that thinks europe is a captialist plot. if you vote for the greens you are voting for a party that thinks electricity is a capitalist plot. if you vote for lab/con you are voting for parties that aspire to be involved in a capitalist plot. if you vote for UKIP/D4R you are voting for parties that think skin pigmentations are all part of some sort of plot in general anyway, probably set up by those damn filthy jews. if you vote for lib dem, however, you are voting for a party that can't actually spell 'plot'.

Re: So...how are we voting in tomorrow`s euro elections...?
Voting for protest candidates just to fk the current Gov up.
Plus my deep hatred for all the current main stream parites in Ireland doesnt help.
The've ended up exactly the same as each other, only one group of overweight corrupt bad-suit-wearing men sit on a different side of the Dáil than the other groups of overweight corrupt bad-suit-wearing men.
Theres also an occassional hideously ugly pain in the arse upper-class/self interesed woman in there too.
They can all go sodomise themselves with a broken bottle of sulphuric acid if they think I'm voting for them and their party associates.

Weird how even though there are quite a few political discussions on these boards, most people here have said they won't bother voting, or that they'll do it on a whim... The only person I saw who had proper reasons is Phang, who's underage so can't vote anyway.
I wanted to show I'm an observer

Re: So...how are we voting in tomorrow`s euro elections...?
are you saying that change of governments doesnt affect policy at all?
granted we are at some kind of consensus right now, but not entirely. Different parties will do different things, surely we want the best. And it WILL make a differenceto your lives in a more significant way than 'which whip you are getting hit by'.
unless you are using the old "1 vote doesnt make a difference anyway" in which case bleh.

No, I'm not saying that at all. I'm well aware different parties have different policies and that these policies have different effects. Hell, I'm about to go do an exam on Social Policy for my MSc. I'm aware of the consequences.
Ultimatley all state power stems from a perceived legitimacy. The more people that vote, the stronger that legitimacy that is.

Having different types of whips probably does make a difference. I've never been whipped, so I wouldn't know. But even if the slaves elections was more substantive (E.g. you got to vote when you had your daily break, or what food to eat or something) then it'd still be an invalid election. If freedom isn't on the ballot paper then I don't want any part of it.

Uggh!
Pull, pull
Wuh! (Sung sorta like Michael Jackson)
Come on!
Uggh!
Solo, I'm a soloist on a solo list
All live, never on a floppy disk
Inka, inka, bottle of ink
Paintings of rebellion
Drawn up by the thoughts I think
Yeah!
Come on!
The militant poet in once again, check it
It's set up like a deck of cards
They're sending us to early graves
For all the diamonds
They'll use a pair of clubs to beat the spades
With poetry I paint the pictures that hit
More like the murals that fit
Don't turn away
Get in front of it
Brotha, did ya forget ya name?
Did ya lose it on the wall
Playin' tic-tac-toe?
Yo, check the diagonal
Three brothers gone
Come on
Doesn't that make it three in a row?
Spoken quietly: "Anger is a gift"
Come on!
Uggh!
(Guitar solo)
Check that!
Uggh!
Come on
Yeah
Uggh
Brotha, did ya forget ya name?
Did ya lose it on the wall
Playin' tic-tac-toe?
Yo, check the diagonal
Three million gone
Come on
'Cause they're counting backwards to zero
Environment
The environment exceeding on the level
Of our unconciousness
For example
What does the billboard say
Come and play, come and play
Forget about the movement
Spoken quietly: "Anger is a gift"
Yeeeaaahhhh!
Uggh!
Awww, bring that shit in!
Uggh!
Hey!
Freedom...yea...
Freedom...yea right...
Freedom...yeeeaaahhh!
Freedom!
Yea!
Freedom!
Yea right!
Freedom!
Yea!
Freedom!
Yea!
Right!

You're hardly anyones slave - although I find this comment amusing, considering communism is generally associated with government control on a variety of territories, effectively enslaving you more than most other forms of government.

Hardly. If you choose not to take part in the election of a government, then you're pretty hypocritical for complaining about them later. It's pretty much first saying you don't want to have anything to do with it, and then later complaining that someone should do something about it.

I probably still couldn't be bothered. I might vote in the General Election, but even then it would be a bit pointless, as the probability of my constituency electing anyone other than a Conservative MP is practically nil.

The fact I won't be voting will make absolutely no difference to me. If it brings about the fall of western civilisation slightly quicker I'll actually be pleased.
