Calibre of Player these days
Having just spent an awesomely exciting afternoon repeatedly stopping a retard from trying to roid one of my alliance mates I am begining to wonder if this is the standard to which playing PA has fallen...let me recount the story for those as bored as I:
A Terran minister in the currently 17th Ranked galaxy (yes the one with the lemmings on the gal banner) - mods note there were no coords used there - obviously liked attacking with his CR.
5 times today he launched his entire CR fleet at his target, saw it was covered and recalled while eta 7. Upon his fleet arriving home every time he immediately set it to autolaunch to attack again, so every time we jumpgate scanned to see if the person under attack still had incoming, we could see it was about to be launched again.
After 2 or 3 times of this rather tedious and predicatable target I took pity on the poor soul and mailed him some advice not to use autolaunch, as we could see him coming and would check the planet using a jumpgate scan regardless of whether anyone in that galaxy was alive. Did he heed the advice? No of course not. Why? Maybe cos he decided that taking advice from a planet half his size couldn't possibly help!
Anyway 2 more identical attempts was still not getting the poor lad anywhere, but to our shock and horror he then tried a new tactic!!! Yes, he sent all his FI and FR instead. Well done son, marks for lateral thinking, unfortunately you forgot that your target takes out 75% of your fleet alone
Oh well nearly there eh?
I would love to point a finger at an alliance and laugh heartily at them for taking in such retards (some would argue that anyone still playing the game/attacking at this stage is a retard anyway), but alas our intel does not extend to the lesser mentally able of players. In an attempt to be as boring as he is we decided to retal - if only to try and weed out his alliance.
Sadly most of his defences coords were ellusive as well, except for one single planet marked as Vision. If this is correct or not I don't know, but its still a little bit of fun to point and laugh, then remember back to the days of skillful players and innovative tactics.
Hope you enjoyed the little story, a bit of a distraction from the "Return of the Power Struggle" epic that is taking place atm

Re: Calibre of Player these days
i really don't get the problem.. u must be quite bored aswell to devote a entire thread to this shocking eventh today. Incase you didn't know yet most alliances have players ( even several ) who tend to use the recall-relaunch "tactic". And from my experience it works quite nice, its doesn't get you roids all the time.. but i have had several cases where i got through after 3-4 attempts...
when using the combo fi-fr waves to attack with. Eventhough my target could stop the fi it doesn't have to be he/she is online to fleetscan (when launching 2 fleets with same name right after tick and using prelaunch for 1 u can't tell which fleet is coming when).. meaning his ally has to waste "(at some times) valuable def resources to cover the fake wave. And usually some defenders can't or forget to pull which means less def is availeble for the next wave. This might not have been the best example of how it should work.... but it definatly works and is used frequently by all alliances/quite some players

[02:33:07] -Ares- xx:yy:zz - Metu - Vision
Nick taken from ingame alliance list, not just from his planet name.
Coords are bad mmmk - JC
But as long as you realise how utterly wank, annoying and pointless that rule is after you allowed the very first post in the thread to bypass it on a technicality - Xto

You obviously missed the point. The majority of PA players these days are retards. Anyone around who played R4 or earlier will understand and most likely agree.
I'm trying hard not to accuse Vision of housing them all tho (as I'm sure they are all over the place), but you're failure to understand something so simple doesn't help
P.S. Yes I was very bored, SWG was down at the time

Re: Calibre of Player these days
well u prolly fail to understand some changes in the game aswell...
R3/R4 there were loads and loads of noobs to hit.... no attack limit.. which meant there was a good chance you would get through on attacks... with the more active universe you are more likely to run into defence and the only thing that you can do in such case is adept to the situation. As for the retards thingie... i guess its just what u expect from the game.. i have no problem what so ever with anyone really. If they use tactics i don't like i have to live with it, its just a game after all.
I take it you don't like the losses u had to put up with yesterday and therefor are looking for some victim to release some of ur presure on. The only thing i get from ur thread start is that u are frustrated and clearly didn't even slightly adept to the new Pa game. Too bad for you.

We didn't take any losses as the planet was never landed on, so apart from 'wasted time' I don't really have anything to be frustrated about
You wouldn't understand I suppose those, you are obviously from the generation of escorts where skill has been reduced to a bare minimum. PA is crap with 2k players, its crap with current ship stats (unless you actually think its right that 2k ships is enough to make a 90k fleet recall?).
'Adapting' to PA as it is now is not hard in the slightest. It takes no skill to gain roids or even to sort defence anymore. If you disagree you obviously didn't have much experience in regards to attacking/defending during the 'races' period of PA, or earlier.

Less inactivity and less cheats...well duh. Anyone who pays the prices being charged now are of course going to be active (altho looking around the universe now I'd bet only about 20% is actually active atm), of course there are less cheats because there is only 1% of the player base there was at its peak and its not free to to create a second account.
Earlier rounds also had people that both read and understood posts on the boards before replying and meerly assuming things posted are flames. The original post was for people's amusement - Wandows was the first 'flame' post in the thread I think you'll find.

Maybe I got points for creativity
(I do agree with you tho, makes the rule a bit pointless)

Re: Calibre of Player these days
As for the recall-relaunch tactic, I always considered it as something that was added in as an advantage to the actives. They MUST be online for a while to do this, whilst any n00b can set an autolaunch (which I do ).

Maddix, time to let this pathetic excuse of a game go my friend. SWG is now your true and rightful home.
dont waste anymore time on this "shadow" of its former self game.
