Uh wih! Got the Family Guy DVD Compendium as UK import from amazon last friday.
This is truly great: 50 Episodes from all 3 Seasons on 7 DVDs, + 2 Bonus DVDs. For 95€ you can't complain...


I'm still not totally sure which is better, Futurama or Family Guy. Basically FG is a bit funnier, the jokes are just great sometimes. But it's too "close" to Simpsons for me. Too "old", too usual. Can't stand usual American families anymore.
That's why Futurama is a tad better IMO: The setting is really interesting, and it's greater entertainment to watch the characters. You know, with all that "twenty-x year-old loser guy from the 1980's manages his life in the future". At least some people can identify themselves there.
Futurama has got more of a real story plot, more "adventures" to see. Totally new stuff in most episodes.

Also I really HATE this melodramatical & moral touching emotions-shit at the end of most Family Guy and Simpsons episodes (k, more often in Simpsons). When they all realize that "family is the most important thing in our lives" and that they are so happy yadda yadda and you shouldn't be bad and they're sorry blah blah etc.

Kk I'm scared of going to be flamed now :-/.

It's usually that Peter (from FG) does something wrong in an episode, or the the dog is angry and leaves or anything. In the end the mess is corrected and everyone is happy again...

They all have flaws. Family guy is just a more cynical expansion on the Simpsons; The Simpsons has got old and crap; Futurama is just The Simpsons rehashed into a pseudo-sci-fi with character roles shifted slightly.

But they're all good.

It depends what you mean by 'Version of the simpsons'; if you mean 'There's 5 of them and at least one pet, and it's a cartoon', then sure. The general theme of the show is significantly different, especially if you compare individual series.

If anything, the latter Simpsons ape Futurama somewhat, with more emphasis on the zany.

I like Futurama a lot, but I don't think it's comparable (in terms of quality) to Family Guy or the Simpsons. I'm not exactly sure why though.

I like the bit at the end of one of the family guys where each one of them says some stereotype about a country and the next person corrects them until they get to the Peter and he goes "Canada Sucks." and then just stays silent heh, that cracked me up when i saw it.
