In the next Olympics...
http://www.euobserver.com/?sid=9&aid=17163
Can you see us (britain) doing this?
It's laughable.
I'm not against it, I just can't see it happening.
Although it would be cool, if Europe was in the medal tables just to piss on the US's tally.

If I was an athlete I would run up to the flame with the flag and burn it

Re: In the next Olympics...
I'm buying the sun tomorrow just in case they've commented on this.
Frankly I think the whole nations competing thing is slightly ridiculous if you're going to allow some kenyan run for turkey when he's probably been there twice in his whole life (and the various other rather silly examples of nationality "changes" that occur in athletics).

Re: In the next Olympics...
The Daily Express (I think) has the headline today of something like "Now Europeans want to steal Olympic glory!"

Heh. I would have suggested, to Mr.Prodi, that when EU funding is provided for atheletes, then they should fly the EU flag.

I don't really care if they bring it or not. But the nation flags have to be upfront

There's nothing wrong with wanting to win. It's the wanting to win "just to piss on the US's tally" attitude that I was commenting on ( i.e., not especially wanting someone in particular to win, just wanting someone in particular to lose).

Re: In the next Olympics...
It's OK when it's the US winning dude. If it's not then it's just bad taste.

I never rooted against the USSR (or China for that matter). Does that make me a bad person?

Re: In the next Olympics...
I don't think many of us on here fit the typical description of our respective nationalities to be honest. That's if you even give the idea of an essential individual national character any credence at all.
