Why you want to drink
Beeing a non-drinker got several shitty consequenses.
1) Everyone asks you why you dont drink.
2) Some of those will want to spend alot of time on that subject
3) Some of those again will think your a completely asoscial idiot.
4) Some will think your a "commited christan". While in fact Im an atheist.
5) Since you dont drink, and you appear to be a nice guy, some people will tell you their life stories, whine about whats wrong and so on.
6) Some will think they got the right to be rude, just becouse you dont drink.
Now, you might think, why dont just start to drink?
But then, everyone will ask you why you have started to drink....
Conclusion: Give your kid some booze before he/she gets 15!

Re: Why you want to drink
I pretty much never get pissed, though enjoy a drink, so to an extent I get the same kind of shit when late in a night I slow down/stop my drinking and am perceived as 'miserable'.
**** them. **** them in their stupid asses.

To be honest, the pressure for people to drink generally only occurs with teenagers and idiots.

I don't know. If you're the sort of person who badgers someone to drink when they've said they don't want one then yeah.

Re: Why you want to drink
I used to drink only at parties, when going out etc to get quite drunk yeah, because it's fun. Lately I also drink when I am alone because I have some serious energy problems, like if I suddenly developped some kind of ADHD decease. And no, I am not unhappy or depressed (anymore), actually I've never been happier before as in this period of my life. (which has nothing to do with my latest alcohol habbit)

Re: Why you want to drink
I went through a stage of not drinking too.
There're plenty of reasons you can use - to shut the subject up too.
-It's too expensive.
-I act like a twat when I'm drunk.
-I've had one too many hangovers.
-I don't want to get fat, and I probably will if I take up drinking again.
-It's just something I do, I'm not keen on alcohol.
Saying something like "I don't feel the need to be drunk" is silly - as then it sounds like you're critcising them for their choices, and consider yourself superior.

I`m never a twat. I`m too much of a professional drinker for that..

I'd just like to add that anyone that tells anyone else that 'drinking on your own is bad' can just shuit the hell up.
That goes for you too Mum.

I am now reassured that I don't have a drinking problem because I drink alone in front of my computer. Thanks.

I don't drink.
At least my circle of friends have someone to take them home when they're pissed out of their heads.

I used to have a mate that didn't drink.
I have more problems with people who try to convince other people to drink than people who don't drink themselves.

Re: Why you want to drink
I only drink when socialising, I never feel the need to drink on my own. (No criticism intended to anyone)
For me it's always been about the fun you have with other people as opposed to just getting blotto. The only times I've ever drinken to excess is due to losing track of what I've drank, I've never intentionally gotten paralytic for the sake of it.
Some people get offended when you say you don't feel the need to drink as it labels them as requiring alcohol to function (in their minds) etc. Or makes them feel you think your better than them etc.
Again its just them being insecure ****s.
Screw them to be honest. But it's always hard to shut out an insecure loud drunk questioning you intently.

i find flirting with whoever's trying to persuade me to drink quite effective (ever notice it's always men?)
infact, i find this a great way to get rid of most annoying people (again, they always seem to be men)

I could respond with a
'It's not about getting blotto, it's about having a G&T at the end of a hard days work'
but most of you wouldn't know what I was talking about...

Alcohol is disgusting and once you try a decent-ish range of drugs you realise how awful it is (compared to the alternatives).
I still drink though, obviously.
