They gave me a Junior manager job in work today. I'm no longer a phone monkey in tech support!!!

Let the attention whoring begin. On a side note, does anyone have experience in people management in a technical support call centre. I may need to know how to do the job between now and monday!

I imagine it's all stats monitoring, escalated calls, and being incomprehensibly bitter about people being sick. That's all management in the tech support call-centre I worked at did (and not too many escalated calls either).

I've been a "supervisor" in a call-centre and found it stupidly easy. "Supporting" people to do work is a hell of a lot easier than actually doing the work yourself.

Manager of tech support eh? Well I kind of skipped to the side of that and went the way of a R&D type position.

Anyway, Best of luck to you, if you have a decent HR department shift rotas should be worked out anyway really. If not then make sure you keep people who are friends together as that helps out (from personal experience) and apart from that just keep on top of the staffs Average Call/Responce time.
