Re: how to change planet name
You will need to speak with an admin about that and you will need a good reason for the change because the only reasons it will be changed for is if it is abusive, pornographic, racist, sexist, etc.
You can find some admins in #support or #multihunters

Re: how to change planet name
Name change is not offered -at all- unless for the reasons specified above by Fiery.

Re: how to change planet name
How did the people in [That Galaxy -UN] get their names as such then?
Also, I'm new to the forums. Is mod intervention common? I guess that's who deleted my first/last post.

Some planets (i believe it was 3, unsure exactly) had their names changed due to rule-breaking behaviour. However, that issue is really between them and their multihunter.

Further, this forum is for asking and answering questions and in that capacity it is strictly "apolitical" - dont drag controversial topics from other forums such as Alliance Discussions or Planetarion Discussions (or even GD) here; fight them away from this hallowed ground .
Mod (ie my) intervention here is to keep threads on the straight and narrow; there is much less room to move on "unrelated" issues within a thread; if you've a question, then start a new thread after checking to see its not already been asked and answered. Otherwise, Planetarion Help Desk is probably not the forum you should be using for those discussions.
I hope i've cleared that up for you.

Re: how to change planet name
I thought I gave an answer to his question, a reference to others who could also possibly answer his question, and posed a directly related question to this thread topic. I didn't realize this was an Alliance or Planetarion wide discussion already, but do you mind linking me to that discussion as those planets won't respond to me in game, and I guess I cannot use the search function effectively yet.

Whilst i might have been overly cynnical, i read your post as an explicit suggestion to a new player to abuse the set of rules that Planetarion is governed by, a principle which is shaky at best. Further, the posting of co-ordinates on Planetarion Forums is restricted under clause 8 of The Planetarion Forum Rules, in addition to being a "private" issue between those planets and their Multihunter as all cases of suspected or actual rule breaking is confidential.
Additionally, i dont recall/see any question posed by you at all, whether related to the original discussion or otherwise, so i see that claim as a little unfounded as well.
Thus, rather than editing both sentences in your post, i chose to delete it as inappropriate for this forum.

I must admit, i dont frequent AD all that often, thus i cant be sure whether it is a matter of public forum discussion. However, i have heard that there was some concerns raised over IRC already, so i merely assumed. Further, whilst i acknowledge that this is only my perception, the tone of your original post came across to me as accusatorial (sp?) and had all the flavour of an AD snipe. Nevertheless, if there is not an ongoing discussion on this issue, and you would wish to discuss it, feel free to post a thread on PD or AD (depending on what discussion you want to create).
I hope i've addressed your concerns regarding my moderation of your post and of this forum. If you've any more questions regarding this issue, can you please direct it towards me in Private Message, so as to not clutter this thread further. Thankyou kindly.

Re: how to change planet name
Planet / ruler names are only changed if the original is found to be inappropriate / offensive by a MultiHunter.
If you have a problem with the fact that we do not just offer planet / ruler name changes to people that want them, then please feel free to either email me or find me on IRC in #support and I shall answer any questions or elaborate further on the reasons why this is the case.

You do realize how ironic it is that this service is only provided to people who break the rules?

Its hardly a 'service' to the rule-breaker, insofar it is done in the interests of the collective, and because the rule-breaker is running a fine line between getting their name changed and being deleted.
Didnt someone have their name changed, last round or something, to something along the lines of "I broke" of "the Rules"?
Names being changed to things like that are good, i think. BUt unfortunately, not my purview.

Re: how to change planet name
An amusing way of doing it would be to change their planet name to their alliance and their ruler name to their nickname. I imagine you'd see rather less abuse of the system if you did that.

But both ruler and planetname have to be unique; so rather than Sovereign of Subh (my last alliance), the second person would have to then be Ali of Subh2, thomus of Subh3, Benneh of Subh4 etc.
Assuming, of course, that those nicknames havent been taken by someone else already as well.
But yes, its a good idea in principle .
