Re: US budget deficit
its billion. the whole GDP of the us is 10-11 trillion.
even that is enough though. he doesnt seem to care about money AT ALL, he just throws it out, for his friends, for his crusade and to fly to mars (?)
i mean, you cant run a country like that, can you? the us cant live on chinese and japanese money forever, can it? some day they will want it back.

if he would use his borrowed money to strengthen domestic demand it would make at least some sense to me, but what bush does is just madness.

Wide-scale recession sounds like it'd be less effort.

Most of that money is "theres" anyway. Quite a lot of it is held by the Federal Government anyway (Federal workers pensions funds, etc).

I wonder what the long term effects will be.
Hopefully it involves black flags

the us (goverment, companies, private people) owes $6.9 trillion to foreigners. that figure was on reuters a few weeks ago. that sounds like quite a lot to me and it becomes more every day, because bush isnt the only mad man over there.

Ofc it is deliberate. I don´t think anyone is apologizing this administration by saying Bush is mad.
I really hope he gets reelected. This guy (and the administration)is really a PR nightmare for the United states.
By the way , is this only the US government deficit or is it the deficit of all the federal states and the government . ( what i mean is, are the deficit of all states (like california (38 billion$)) included in the above number???

Re: US budget deficit
id rather not have him crash the world economy with one big bang. if the us only would make it 10-15 more years china easily could replace it without any big trouble.

Yes, the importance of good PR simply cannot be understated.

No, state deficits aren't counted. However, most states are required, as a matter of state law or state constitution, to maintain a balanced budget (at least a balanced operating budget). California is, as usual, an extreme case. Their deficit is larger than the deficits of all the other states combined.

Budget deficit excludes pensions of government workers, mate.
According to some estimates, this inplicit liability is almost as large as the official government debt.
Similar, the social security system, which is about three times the gov. debt as offically mesured isn't included either.

for him it makes sense to run into debt. all those asians have no other choice but to give him that money. if the dollar collapses and the intrestrates in the us rise they will be in serious trouble.
plus, the only way to increase economical growth in the given situation is by runing into debt.
the only problem with bush is what he spends that money on.
