the new Bond is Daniel Craig
Famous for Layer Cake for those who don't know.
Opinions?

Re: Probably late but
its supposed to be a "darker, more intimate character, less gadgets and more storyline" so shite.

Re: Probably late but
Bond isn't fun unless he's doing something insanely unlikely to result in anyone on the planet being left alive and then somehow getting away with having sex with hot women while he does it. Don't destroy a good series so some pretentious faggots can **** everything up
I don't think I've ever seen daniel craig in any film so I'll refrain from commenting on his acting abilities until I see something.

I think Roger Moore will always be the best Bond in my opinion, purely for his seedy lines to the chicks.
James Bond is just getting shit now. INVISIBLE CARS? wtf.? What next? a frikkin time machine?

Re: Probably late but
I always thought that they should have left Bond in the 60's. I mean the movie settings, keep making the bond movies, but don't update the context with the times.

Re: Probably late but
When Ian Flemming became old and infirm Noel Coward used to feed him and even bathe him.
This was at the height of Noel being (what nowadays one would call) a superstar. Ian Flemming was perfectly straight in case any of you feel like being purile. His wife Ann (whom we love) was truly touched at the sheer kindness shown to Ian by his 'showbiz' friends.

He plays the main role in Layer Cake, quite a good film and well worth watching

He was very good in Layer Cake and I reckon has the right kind of look. I'm optimistic.

Re: Probably late but
I've never seen a Bond film from start to finish, (having never watched one intentionally), but have probably seen parts of almost all of them (eg. I remember the invisible car mentioned above but couldn't tell you which film it was from other than it was fairly recent). However, I have seen all the Austin Powers films at least once. I suspect I'm not alone in this.

I concur, especially Goldeneye is surpassing.
The best Bond was 'The spy who loved me', however.

Re: Probably late but
Casino Royale is actually a very good book.
I'll be curious to see how closely they stick to it. I expect not very much.
The whole plot of the book is that there's an agent who worked for SMERSH, and he had lost loads of money on some brothels. So he took it and went to a big casino somewhere (I think in France) and aimed to win back his fortune by gambling.
The British govt didn't want him getting his money back, so they sent out their best gambler (who was James Bond) with loads of money to out-gamble him.
A bunch of other stuff happens, but most of the book takes place in the casino, gambling. Which is cool, but when people think "Bond" now, they think "big explosions and hot wimmins".
Which I hate. I'm a big fan of the books, and apart from Goldeneye I have hated all the new Bond films.

Re: Probably late but
They should probably stop making bond films, at least for 15 years or so. The recent ones have generated so little intrest (the movie industry feels it has to care, but no one else does) that the legacy of bond is being somewhat wrecked

Re: Probably late but
Goldeneye was the best Bond film.
One of the guys who made Goldeneye (producer, director or something like that) is working on this new film, that gives me hope.
However, James Bond being blonde seems to go against what Bond has always been.
