in short, current system is crap, has been crap for every round of it's existence.

this is mainly due to the requirement for scan planets remaining.

therefore, rectify it by:
separating scan tree from research, make it it's on in the waves bit or something.
but still let research times etc affect speed of scans, make it all 2x longer than now, jgp's are released too early, blind landings ROCK!

fuse amps and distorters into 1 so dist-whores will not only be able to scan equal to their amount of 'wave MACHINES*' they'd still be hard to scan and such too etc

etcetc

*the fused thingy needs a better name

I think bwtmc is just pre-empting Appocomaster from jumping in and saying "all will be fixed in R16"
