Fleets Page Enhancement

On the fleets page, just a minor change. "Total Ships in Fleet" column should also have below it a static (non-link) row stating "Total Uncloaked Ships in Fleet" or something to that effect.

Re: Fleets Page Enhancement

This raises a greater question of whether races should be suggested based on experience.

My first reaction to this was "well Xan know they are cloaked, and Zik should know that if they capture a cloaked ship then it will be cloaked for them"

My second reaction is "why is this information not easily accessible on signup?" (atm there isn't even a manual link to the race differences)

Most of that isn't relevant, but when I read this back in the morning it'll help a train of thought.

It does?

I would have just thought that it would make it easier for many players to better judge their fleet at a glance to accomodate mil scans, rather than going through potentially time consuming and frustrating addition/subtraction calculations. This is particularly the case for Ziks who steal alot of random crap.

Just because it involves some knowledge and skill in order to know that equalising the number of ships in a fleet in order to confuse mil scans, and having the time and patience to actually execute that i think are two different things; it might be a classic case of where 'skill' and 'activity' differ, but where loosing the 'activity' doesnt have much/any negative effect on the players or the game.

Shouldn't the calcing of the crap as you call it be labelled under occupational hazard as a zik?

No, IMO it should be labeled as confusing and ill-described to new players. I think opening up the faking possibilities to players who are new to the game, while may be confusing for DCs, could help the game itself, by allowing new players who don't quite understand cloaking to be able to send 2 fleet same count fakes.

Re: Fleets Page Enhancement

One of the recent rounds actually labelled the races with ter as easy, through to zik as hard. Maybe it was r15 or so.

I think more information should be presented on the signup page. That's probably low priority with all that needs doing though.

I really think the new EMP resistance should be abolished. The old system employed greater strength against some races effectively through the stats by combatting certain podclasses. The resistance system is one of the most complex parts of what is effectively a paper scissors stone game.

Re: Fleets Page Enhancement

Yeah, but i think an ingame statistic would be helpful for those non-irc/metagame players, or newbies.
