Once again i played as a scanner, but only part time finishing on a very poor 115 amps roughly.
Didn't really attack much, but whenever I did I made sure it was for my maximum benefit going for as many roids and as much xp as I could get. This lead to my highest ranking round yet, hurrah.
I exiled a lot this round, growing bored and dissatisfied with most of the galaxies I landed in, apart from one, but they exiled me 'by mistake'. Bastards.

It was a bit depressing how bad calls early on rewarded me. It was better in the second half of the round, when I built a more proper fleet. I lucked out on the last two days and earned some 2m score on 6 landings.

Things started getting better when I finished my 147th dist and actually managed to increase in value a bit (not that it stopped people landing blind and giving my galmates 300-400k value in xand FR a pop to take my roids \o/ ). Had a coupla very bad weeks (where my attacks should have capped 800 or 1k roids or whatever, but thanks to piggies/targets getting hit beforehand I ended up with anything from 80-150 instead :/ ), then did a jester the last coupla days. 4 very good landings, 2.4m score \o/

i had a very nice start even without Rember around - when he returned during 2nd week of the round i was ~top20 and after that i had defence on my attacks for around a week 
Luckily it was easy to try several different tactics and fleetcombos between all those crashes ... too bad i couldnt spend my resources anymore on last day else i might have been TOP30 :S
the round was too relaxing - i dont deserve the rank

was zik and as such playing for value, so was stuck with ~50 value and score around 120-200 for a long time then a capped a nice amount of DE/Ter DE, and realised I could hit value fat xans for big score/roid gains. (had enough pegs/bar/buccs that xans would run fb/wraith with no def)
went into top50 in score in 2 days

Had some nasty lands early round due to not being able to be around to see scans and calc. Tried to play a bit for value, in the end concentrated most of my res on wyverns and hit ziks for easy roids. had some good lands with that, I did lose about 300 BS landing on LukeyLove for 500 max xp roids, landing on over 1k broads  .
All in all a good round tbh.

Three fleeted from the start, landing my first 15 or so attacks blind. First news scan I got was the first time I was defended against properly. Switched from de to bs and faking as soon as I could. I'd go through about 30 planets per night, all ziks, looking for my targets. Launched early with my fakes, normal times with my main bs fleet. My key was consistency, I rarely went for the massively inviting targets as they received so much incoming off other xp-whores. Usually 800k value 700 roid targets was what I looked at. I only missed like 3 nights attacking, paddys day and a couple of birthday parties, and those two days of downtime. Could have made 300k xp if it wasn't for them! First time I've played from tick start to tick finish since r4 so a decent return for me :)
Also I received eight hundred and fifty two billion three hundred and seventy one million four hundred and sixty three thousand three hundred and forty one messages asking whether or not I was lokken. For the record, yes, yes I am.

That was me! #1 value of the Ascendency's top 100 players. I think Desse and Dunkel had higher values than me, but lower scores. Even after DarkAngel_ fleetcaught 700k value towards the end. In addition to two other fleetcatchs throughout the round where I lost 300k and 500k in each. Kinda funny though--I kept my roids pretty well throughout the round despite not getting any defence, that was intresting. I guess that's what a decent fleet composition as a Zik will do. I literally spent 2 weeks of the round within the top 30 roids in the universe, without any alliance-defence.

Played as both Value and XP player the first 45 days of the round and were the only player that were able to do well in both (rest of the peeps in top 100 were top 30 or so in XP or value and top 2-300ish in the other).
Were somewhere between #1 and #25 in both valueranking and score most of the round before I changed tactic and suicided all fleet except the FI/CO last 15 days or so (suicided around 3-4 k clippers totally).
Always attacked the biggest targets I could find (mainly attacked targets in top 50 value/roids) and as they get more def and are harder to attack then the noobs the other XPwhores in the top kept attacking I personally think I should've passed a few more of them in ranking if game had been "fair"
Seen loads of peeps on forum talking about how 9:2:9 (rain) did great and deserved to win, but as he had more fi/co then me last part of round and as more or less all the peeps I attacked were big enough for him to attack aswell I don't really think he did that great job.
He stole only 10 k roids while I totally stole 19-20k with smaller fleet and more or less same targets to choose from (unless he napped half the universe to avoid incs that is).
ONLY reason he ended above me in ranking is some silly peeps decided to donate theire fleets to help him get higher in ranking. Dunno if he knew about it or not but don't really matter as it's not fair to the rest of us.
Looking at the way things turned out and how shorttermmemory peeps have I prolly would've been better off keeping all my DE/CR/BS and continued buiding up fleet as I had big fleet (before killing off DE/CR/BS to get more XP in end) and as I stole more roids then anyone else I would've been able to grow fast and end somewhere in top 5 in value.
..and if suiciders on rain werent planned with him they might have "suicided" on me instead as I were ahead of rain the whole round before he passed me in ranking 2-3 days before end cause of peeps donating fleets to him...
Sorry for the long post btw... doubt many peeps bother reading it but just had to get it off my chest as this game can be frustrating sometimes (peeps getting fleetdonations, "noobbashers" on top etc..)

Didn't really mean to whine about peeps noobbashing.. Accepted the fact that XP would be a big part of the game this round so changed tactic myself two weeks before round ended and XPwhored last time of the round.. if you can call it Xpwhoring when I still had more then 1,5 mill value (while other top xpwhores had 3-800 k value) and I had to recall around 80% of the fleets attacking last few days cause of loads of def (everyone get def against em though so dont complain about that :P )
Still don't think rain did that great tbh.. He could've split his fi/co attackfleet in atleast two fleets and should've been able to steal twice as much roids as he did. IMO it's both risky and silly to send all/most all fi/co at targets like he did a lot of times as he didnt need half of it and if enemies hadnt been lazy/asleep they/we could easily fleetcatch him with big arrow fleets etc to kill it all, while ifhe split it he wouldnt loose all if peeps decided to fleetcatch.
I stole more roids with less ships then he had, even though I mainly attacked peeps with same value as he did. And as I mentioned earlier he would've been behind me in ranking if peeps hadnt donated fleets to him last part of the round. Don't feel it's fair that peeps decided to donate him almost to the top cause he were among top value guys in end, as that dont mean he were better player then many of the peeps with high Xp as if the top XPplayers had gone for value till the end I think many of em wouldve been in top value aswell.
ah well.. I should stop writing now.. got a problem stop typing shit when I first start :P

I agree. In my opinion rain probably put too much faith in the suicides putting him past whoever was on top. That said, I've heard that 9:2 had a lot of NAPs. He might not have had many targets he was able to launch on.

gmufc, i am sure that u put a lot of effort in the round.that doesnt mean that the 4 ppl that finished above u didnt deserve their spot. the round is over, so no point in crying over spilt milk.

I didnt say the peeps above me didnt deserve theire spot..
JBG definitely played very well and deserved to win this round, and I've never complained about him winning.
Only thing I got a "problem" with is that certain peeps decided to take things in to theire own hands and donated one of the Zik players almost to the top (prolly without him knowing it afaik).
Didnt wanna bring that discussion up again.. would've made a post in the other thread then. Just wrote my thoughts about it here while I first were writing about this round..
