Pfft I didn't bother, we went out on valentines with no bookings anywhere, hit italmania, had a wonderful meal and time together.

Just hit somewhere low key that wants to take part in the valentine thing, you'll find most non big name resturaunts are not so busy on valentines night cause everyone else is either shagging, being miserable or eating out somewhere posh, so you'll find that the people who work there are more than happy to lavish extra attention on your occassion because they have less customers than usual to serve and that they want to promote themselves.

If your gf values materialism over symbolism then don't indulge the greedy cow.

I just think it's stupid how people have to book really early.
If everyone unofficially took a consensus to not book anything more than 2 days before, we'd all be happier and not have to plan things months in advance.

hmmm, my gf does use msn rather a lot.
