Hangover Cures
Ones that dont involve fried food. infact...any food at all....
Liquids are 'okish' but i doubt any kind of tablet would stay down too long.
Suggestions?

Re: Hangover Cures
Blue Gatorade.
However, you simply won't survive without food.
The hard way - rollmops - will bring up your entire stomach thus clearing it out
The difficult way - fried egg sandwiches - mixed results, kill or cure (not literally)
The best way - cheese on toast

Fanta is the only way to go.
But food (something like bread/toast or cereal) is necessary.

Re: Hangover Cures
Lots of water.
Boiled potatoes are ok too, as you can actually stomach them.
Cucumber is good too, as it's pretty much just water.

Re: Hangover Cures
The best hangover cure is rehydration packs.
You can make your own with a pint of water, two teaspoons of sugar and two teaspoons of salt.
Mix it up and drink it and you'll feel much better

Re: Hangover Cures
just remember kids: drink a couple of pints of water before you go to sleep and you cant go far wrong!
(admittedly this is more of a prevention that a cure, but hey, i think that you are probably planning on getting drunk again at some point, so you can stil try it )

Re: Hangover Cures
I used to think Alka Seltza... but that is hard to keep down.
1 biscuit, a pint of water, 2 ibruprofen works for me... (when I have forgetten to drink copious amounts of water before sleeping).

this is very true and good. pizza also help because of the fat content of the cheese. prevention is better than a cure

Tis rather lovely. Although not cheap.

Re: Hangover Cures
I generally wake up early if I've been drinking and can't go back to sleep until the evening. Although I don't get headaches. (Hurrah for vodka).
Roadrunner's suggestion is clearly the win though.

agreed, its the only way if you were totally intoxicated the night before. If your semi ok tho i find burning it off in the gym is good as long as you stay hydrated.

Re: Hangover Cures
Soup...
You need moist and possibly something that holds it in your body, so a vegetable soup (which is kind of salty when my mother makes it).
So, whatever prevents the hangover, will also help make it go away.

A milky cup of tea and lots of cereal usually does the trick for me. Yops are a good call some of the time as well though.

You'll find that this is quite common in most Sushi bars.

You cannot speed up the process of alcohol absorbtion or burnoff of its by products by any means including excercise.
You can however mask the after effects somewhat. The dehydration is the only symptom easily treatable and cured.
Unfortuantly everything else is pretty much only solved by time and your body.

Re: Hangover Cures
Oh and any products with caffeine in them will aggravate a headache.
The best re hydration cure is those sachets of Dioralite. They are designed to replace fluid and electrolytes in the body.
Useful for both hangovers and diarrhoea.
Failing access to those, Alka-Selzer before bed is better, after doesnt do much good. Lucosade is ok.

yes, because it replaces the electrolytes that you are missing, same kind of thing that i was on about really, except the next step

Coke before you sleep seems like an awful idea since I think a significant part of hangovers is caused by dehydration.

coke does dehydrate you, however, not as much as alcohol, and, if you are drunk, it can be good, as itdoes contain a lot of the sugars you need to rehydrate etc
i have heard tell they coke would be better for you that lucozade etc when you are drunk, but im not sure tbh, and cant be bothered to google it.

Re: Hangover Cures
I dont have any real knowledge on this and am just guessing, but I'd guess that quite a lot of water, a few multivitamen pills, a good sugar source, and possibly some vitamen C, would be the best bet. I doubt this would completely prevent a hangover, since I think part of a hangover is actually caused by alcohol withdrawal symptoms, but it would probably fix your nutrient levels so that youd avoid the dehydratoin/blood sugar levels lowered parts.

Re: Hangover Cures
the headache part is caused by the dehydration 99% of the time, and, to me, this is always the worst part

Re: Hangover Cures
Get some Irn Bru, boil it, dissolve some Cola Cubes into it (or any other mostly-sugar sweet... Cola Cubes taste nice, and don't have the sting that just plain sugar has). Drink. Your headache will get worse. Drink more. It'll get worse. Then drink some more, then some plain normal Irn Bru from the fridge.
After the initial shock, get some vitamins and carbohydrates down you.
