[Discuss] Gal shipyard
it would be a bit like the gal fund, you could donate ships, sell and buy them (only from your race ofc and only if you got the proper research). Advantage : you could get them in 1 tick, drawback : they would be more expensive to buy and cheap to sell. The Gal shipyard would be controlled by the MoW (not much to do, only donate ships to smaller planets)

Re: Gal shipyard
yeah i can imagine that being used for superfleet purposes, maybe a limitation like gal fund, under average value etc

Re: Gal shipyard
Can't see this happening tbh, although it might be realistic and doable than most suggestions of this nature. On the other hand it's pretty much either useless if prices are too high, or abuseable otherwise if it's near a 1:1 link. tbh I don't think it'd be used much, as you'd have to donate ships to start with. A universal exchange might be more useful, but that obviously opens the way for more abuse. People would pay the % difference just to cover each attack - save roids but loose value.
It comes down to the fact that generally people only use things like this occasionally or to abuse them, so that's probably why most ideas in this vein get shot down. Though perhaps cath would be wishing atm they could exchange their Cr fleet for a Co fleet .
I guess it might be interesting to see a ship for ship swap, with an 8-10 tick delay between loosing your ships and gaining other ships, and loosing 25% value (rounded down). This stops abuse for things like last minute def, but means if you really made a mistake you can swap things. It replaces things like the "upgrade" idea and the "scrapping of fleets" idea. Who knows

Re: Gal shipyard
Why would i want to see my ships on the cheap and buy them back more expensive?
Is this so i have no fleet loadsa resources then eta 1 TO LAND buy pure ships from it and SURPRISE and anihilate the poor attacker who has just had hard enough work trying to get through the alliance/cluster/galaxy defence and already scanned to see if you spent ur money a few ticks ago.
So do we have to keep checking a planet all the way to eta 1 now?

Re: Gal shipyard
Just bad, imagion some one exchanging all ships just to get one class like CO, which covers FI/CO/FR/DE/PODS, he's then allmost unstoppable as it's only one class

So which race has co that covers all those classes?

Re: Gal shipyard
No race, but you could swap with other races to get those

Re: Gal shipyard
So the ability would exist to "build"/buy yourself out of an attack in just 1 tick? Without changing engineering priority (making that compeltely obsolete). I, for one, dislike that idea very much.

Hence my suggestion of a time delay. And perhaps a ship for ship only swap.

Your capacity to buy yourself out depends on the resources you have in stock. You'd need a full day resources to make a real difference. The idea is to get rid of ships you don't use, we all have them. and give us the possibility to change tactics and attack new targets (races) in mid round.

Re: Gal shipyard
If you want to get rid of ships you don't use (esp. in a value-whoring universe) suicide them. If you wish to change tactics earlier in a round, plan it out and stockpile resouces to build a new fleet mid round. This is a strategy game--it's advisiable to use a strategy as opposed to making it up as you go along (though, that too is a strategy, just the effectiveness is highly variable).

Re: Gal shipyard
No real strategist keeps to the same tactic all the way through.. versatility is a very important attribute required to be successful.
