Berlusconi
I'm curious about this man. What is he and what isn't he? There seems to be mostly newspaper reports about how he wants only positive talk about him in the media, and how much he owns.
"Real knowledge" is appreciated.

He is The Italian PM, and he is a media baron.
There is, rather justifiably, some concern about The Italian Head of Government owning a rather large chunk of The Italian media.
That's about all you need to know.

This line rather nicely sums up the fears of the Italian people about him

If I was an Italian citizen, then I'd shoot myself as soon as I looked at my political system.

Hardly worth mentioning. Most people take that as given when Italian political figures are mentioned.

In Italy it's mandatory, though. In other countries it's just optional whether you want to indulge in criminality or not.

He's a 'major contributor' to AC Milan, not sure if he's chairman or just a board member but he's involved with them

He owns a controlling interest in AC Milan actually.

He has a hand in quite a few economic pies.
Whether he should therefore be running Italian economic policy is therefore a point of contention.
'Conflict of interests', etc.

he runs quite a lot in italy. a court in Spain wanted to start a trial against him (about belusconie buying some spanish company, i dont know the details), so they filled some form to get asstitance from italy. guess who recived that form? belusconie himself, in his new job as minister of foreign affairs . thats what i call 'Conflict of interests'

As I was just in Italy I can safely say that those who take any sort of interest in politics hate him.
The proles however vote in their masses as he is a figure that they aspire to be, or so I have been told by some Italians.
He is a multi-billionaire but nobody knows how he made his first billion, he is heavily and unprovably linked to the mafia, and most people that try to find out are sent to Sardinia or disappear.
He also looks like Mussolini.
Bear in mind most of my information is from biased Italians.
