Teaching Tomorrow
It's my first day in school tomorrow, teaching 12-18 year olds. I start off with a year 9 class (supposedly the worst year to teach, at the age when they're in the middle of puberty and are discovering the other sex), then go onto another sodding year 9 class and finally finish off with some nice year 7s. This means I finish 2:15pm, which isn't too bad I suppose.

I'm really nervous about it all though. I'm not entirely sure how much "teaching" I'll be doing - it'll be 5-10 minutes at the most, and will probably just be observation (as the university year goes on, I'll gradually progress onto teaching full lessons on my own). But it's still a far cry from last term, where it was just university with lectures and seminars. Not for the first time, I'm starting to think "Am I in too deep?".

I know we all get nervous when starting something new, in most jobs. I'm just scared I'll **** something up

For how long do you have to study before you graduate?

I am in my first year, and I'm going to be teaching year 7-12. Gotta love it.

First, you have to earn their respect. Kill the first one who disagrees with you (no matter what subject it is) that will teach them!

I didn't do any teaching, and probably won't for another week or two... which I'm grateful for.

I'll be observing some more, getting the classes used to having me around. Still, it's an early start every day for me (have to be at school for 8:30am) - I finish relatively early though.

It's been fun so far

Plus the teacher said he'd lend me a copy of Flash (that's what they're doing at A-level at the moment) - which is a program I've always been interested in, and only really scratched the surface of.

Which should be fun, as all the new Macromedia software activates over the internet, so you'll be getting either a cracked 'illegal' copy with a hacked exe or an old version with less features.

Either way, it's better than paying for it.
