Support Tag, Allied Tags and Cross Defence

With all the current drama on support planets/tags whats enforced and not, I would like to make a suggestion on a change to how alliance cross defense works...

Looking at some current alliance members sizes:

ConspEresy 60
p3nguins 54
NewDawn 33
VGN 29
Howling Rain 25
ReHaB 20
Astatores 21
Mitchas Marauders 5

Currently if any alliance is allied then you can cross defend between alliances without any eta bonus.

This has resulted in support planets placed into a support tag and used for the gain of 1 or 2 planets, its not a new issue and ofc the rules rarely get enforced properly.

Why don't we change how the alliance relations work to avoid this...

When allied the member count must be at least 50% of your alliance to be able to receive defense.

This would mean with the current numbers, ConspErasy would be able to defend any alliance but would only be able to receive defense from alliances with at least 30 members, so Newdawn could defend but VGN could not.

The effect of this would be that big tags can support the little guys but very little guys cannot support the big tags.

VGN could defend P3ng, HR could not Defend P3ng....

Can always defend a smaller tag!!

What about raising the tag limit and removing out of tag defence?

Re: Support Tag, Allied Tags and Cross Defence

I'm in favour of implementing some way to make def tags less useful, but I don't think this is the way, because it'll serve as an incentive against allying with smaller alliances.

So he gave them the coy little wave and realized it probably would have been more effective if he hadn't been lying on their turkey.

Re: Support Tag, Allied Tags and Cross Defence

The logic is flawed to suggest the 2nd tags to be even bigger

I get your point of letting two allied individual tags to share def tho. But those two dedicated tags allying sounds far more worrying than the extra couple idlers doing so. Apart from the point of view to have own. goals, which sadly always doesn't exist (the past norse, xvx, etc.)

The support plays will move inside your gals by exiling if dedicated enough. If defending from smaller tags get forbidden.

That would certainly courage not to recruit any extra. The negative effect is to have no homes for the less dedicated and less players in general. Pros would be in the same level game play before politics kick in. Which seems to be a higher problem.

That's not a bad idea, it gives a benefit but at a cost.

Your arguments dont really fit with the current tag limit.
Its 40+20 in one tag, the +20 is there so its room for "idlers" and "less dedicated players".
If some tags have 60+15 maybe its time to play around with the tag limits and/or the way tags are counted.

Re: Support Tag, Allied Tags and Cross Defence

But by what logic would someone take 20 idlers in if u can get players supposedly playing.

I think the best gain is to level it up for tags not able to fill themselves up.

It adds strategic point of views also. I think r80 we won total score by mile, but Ult escorted their top 40 to go past us.
