Cheater punishment
Seeing how many top planets/top galaxies/alliance HCs has been caught or closed for cheating this round i think its about time we start looking at some other way to punish the planets around them.
What if those that BP with a planet that gets closed for cheating or bug abusing is deducted 10% XP/Ship/Roids?
A Galaxy punishment can be on up to 5% XP/Ship/roids deduction based on their ranking.
Alliance punishment can be on up to 1% of ships/roids/XP/Construction based of ranking/members.
I think PA crew gotta look into how to punish those around the cheaters, perhaps then they will not Accept it happening around them everyday, and rather take a stand against it.

Re: Cheater punishment
Ofc if someone finds someone cheating ingal or in alliance, and report it, they should not be punished.

One of the dumbest suggestions in a long time... What if all those people are random and not in a BP? And i predict this would be abused to an extreme by some, just to piss over several others.

Well its just something i came up with right now, havnt even thought it through.
Hopefully people can post other suggestion how to make it fair.
What my point is that it shouldnt pay out to be with cheaters.

How many is that? Except cardi and Dav who are neither top planets nor alliance HCs. And they didnt acually plan to cheat from the start they just found some bug that when they cancelled prod they got more resources than when they ordered it(or something like that). They found a bug by accident and their only fault was not reporting it immediately.
Cardi could even got away with it if he didnt go "cardi style" on MHs and Appoco and start threatning everyone.
It was basicly Dav getting 1.7m value in one tick and that got him closed and cardi aswell who did much much less than that.
Except those two who didnt really plan to cheat but rather abused a flaw in the game(and got rightfully closed for it) who else cheated and got caught and closed?

Re: Cheater punishment
Surely your account being closed is enough of a punishment?

Re: Cheater punishment
What if you butcher walks with around with ur friend irl then he decides to kill someone, maybe you should serve 10% of his time in jail?

A better analogy would be if they took away 10% of your savings/belongings, but honestly who needs an analogy to see how stupid this suggestion is?

Re: Cheater punishment
Maybe it would help the fight against cheaters.
Too many gals and too many alliances accept that their players is cheating, instead of reporting it they are taking advantage of it.

Re: Cheater punishment
I think you're wrong here, I think there are very few gals and alliances that accept this.
A good start to fight cheater would to have people in the multihunters team that is actually available.. The fact that there were no one from the multihunters online the last days of the round was crazy. Thats the days where most of the cheating happens.

Re: Cheater punishment
First of all to bitcher, I presume you wrote this thread out of frustration and didn't think this through...
I blame the multihunters for the current climate/culture of cheating as I recall the days when Assassin was Head MH and he really didn't care who he closed and handled the r15 vsh planets very well. Cheating is deemed acceptable/worth the risk because of the lack of closures.

Re: Cheater punishment
The main punishment for cheating appears to be having your illicit gains taken away. This makes cheating a strictly winning strategy: you may gain a lot, if you aren't caught, but even if you are, you probably won't lose anything. This is silly. A third grader can see that. Cheating should be a losing strategy: you may gain, but more likely you'll lose a lot.
More serious is the fact that we've designated certain ingame behaviours as undesireable, but still encourage them through game mechanics. Farming is a fairly straightforward example, especially ship farming. Everyone hates it, it's illegal, it makes a mess of the stats balance... but if you pull it off, you can make your planet nearly impregnable.
The real problem is not that the MHs are too lax with their punishments, nor that they're require too much evidence before they 'convict', nor even that the community is insufficiently wiling to ostracize cheaters. It's the dissonance between the rules and the game mechanics.
No amount of rules or regulations is going to stop people from trying to take advantage of the game mechanics. If you want to make players and alliances engage in open warfare, you have to make those actions fun and rewarding. If you want to discourage farming or multiing, then you have to make it boring and costly, or at the very least, no more rewarding than other behaviours.
