The word is practically a curse around here.

If there is a thread on the same subject on the front page of GD (e.g. "Barry White is dead!") then I don't see why doesn't just merge the threads with some kind of explanatory note.

If it's a link that hasn't appeared within the last month then it's not really "old", merely "nostalgic".

Anything in between should be at the posters discretion.
