The magical powers of showers
Somewhat unusually amongst the land-going portion of the animal kingdom, we humans like water. A lot.
My particular favourite form of water is a nice hot shower - preferably a power shower. There's nothing quite like the feeling that you're about to be laminated to the opposite wall to cheer you up in the morning.
And thus, in a roundabout way, I come to my point.
What is it about water in general and showers in particular that makes feel better and happy? My usual hangover cure is an extended shower - by the time I come out, it seems to have gone somehow. They cure aches and pains (reasonable enough I guess, with the pounding hot water), make colds and flu melt away for 10 precious minutes often with some lasting effect, and just generally make me a happier, smilier person. I even find myself humming happy tunes to myself without even realising it sometimes (this morning it was Oasis - Acquiesce), which I would never do anywhere else.
Am I batshit insane, or do other people love thier showers too?

Re: The magical powers of showers
I believe humans love routine.
Your shower is (I hope) a routine.
Therefore you like your shower.
This may not be the case with your job, which is an obligation.
Or you might indeed be insane and need counselling.

Re: The magical powers of showers
I guess hot shower water over your head in the morning has got to improve blood circulation in the brain. Thats got to make you feel better; especially if recovering from hangover.

Re: The magical powers of showers
I enjoy baths... although my current one isn't really big enough
It is wonderfully relaxing to sit in hot water for 30-60m while reading a book. I'm not sure why it's so relaxing, it just is. The sensation of the water is just nice and comfortable. When im stoned it's the same, just more so.

Re: The magical powers of showers
I don't like baths. You have the immediate problem that they're going cold as soon as you get in.
I run my showers into sauna temperatures anyway, so not only do I get clean I get a damn good steaming too. It's actually pretty nice.

Baths are great for when youve been playing Sports. After Golf , my shoulders hurt like hell, and its nice to soothe in a Radox bath. After football , my calfs and my groin hurt, so its nice to be able to relax in a bath and take the pressure off those areas for a while.

Re: The magical powers of showers
If I don't take a shower when I wake up - I may aswell stay home, as my day hasn't actually 'started'. I've been in the scenario in the past where I showed up late for classes due to taking a shower even though I woke up late. Even though it amazes people you go take a shower when you're already late, it makes perfect sense to me. If I don't take the shower the time I spend in class is worthless, seeing I'm not awake enough to pay any attention.
As showers to make me feel better, hell yeah. Somehow the feeling and sound of hot water pounding against my head / the rest of my body is very relaxing and makes me a bit relax. It's a good remedy to forget worries, get rid of some stress ( this may be down to the hot water on shoulders-idea though) or make you feel better (fysically) when you're a bit ill.

Re: The magical powers of showers
Yeah that's sports, but what about waking up in the morning.
I used to only be able to function after I showered. Then I found coffee.
No more shower needed.

No way is it just routine dude. It's the cleansing and the refreshing nature and the heat and so on. Plus the repetitive nature of the water coming out of the showerhead is rather mind-clearing, and hence relaxing, I find.

Yeah things coming out of a shaft in liquid form sure is relaxing. That`s a very sexual way of looking at it Jonny.
I still believe that my experience with showers is just routine. Wake up groggy, stumble into the shower, wake up through that shower, drink coffee, read newspaper, wank, go to school.
But then again I am not a level 5 mage, I cannot magically proove anything.

Re: The magical powers of showers
My res had square inch tiles last year. Between the tiles was black mold.
Needless to say showering fun was cut by 1/2

Re: The magical powers of showers
My shower here sucks
The temperature mixer is rubbish (you're either burning your skin off or showering in the antarctic) and the water just seems to dribble out. My shower at home however pretty much comes straight off the mains, so there's plenty of pressure behind it
Don't worry megla, I feel exactly the same as you about my shower

Re: The magical powers of showers
I love showers purely because they put energy in you. You leave a shower when your tired/sweaty/dirty and you feel good and confident. Not only that but im always happiest when im naked...when I have sex, when I sleep and of course when I shower.

I can't wait for you to live your first bad naked experience.
ie : thrown on a snow bank stark naked.
You'll be in your happy place alright.

I`m impressed by the "quality" discussion this thread has generated; we at GD must me a "clean" and "hygenic" lot

Wouldn't it be better to have a wank before having the shower and certainly before reading the paper, unless you like having your cock covered in newspaper ink?
