I was wondering - how do they know who the terrorists on each plane were? Did they just look for foreign-sounding names on the register?

"/ is left associative" means that
5+5/4/3/2-3
would be calculated as
5 + (((5/4)/3)/2) - 3
Its not a statement about its precedence in relation to other operators.

It's the same operation, not the same syntax.
Over looks like this:
Divison looks like this:
a ÷ b

yeah it's (11/9)/2001 since by default all common operations are left to right.

Only as much as multiplication is a form of addition. It has different precedence.

Yes we can. 2 + 2 ≈ 3.9999999987514293118
Anyway, to avoid potential confusion, I propose using something like
1 2 3 + 4 5 / 6 * * 7 8 9 - / + *
to represent
(1*(((2+3)*((4/5)*6))+(7/(8-9))))
, from now on.

Oh, no-one uses the primary school divide symbol. But diagonal is different from horizontal:
Code:
2x + 1
--------
y
Not
(2x+1)/y
Sometimes:
(x/4!)²
-------
y

depends on the length of the things being divided.
for short things, it tends to be (x+2)/y for instance.

Why make a line and 2 dots, when 2 dots will do?
