Windows 2k

*** PROBLEM FIXED ODDLY - here's what I had anyway ... ***

If a network card can work with Windows 2000, does it necessarily mean it will work Win XP? As my ethernet card says the driver has support for Win 2k & XP and it's my friend's newly purchased ethernet card for his win 2k system (I'm borrowing it). But XP claims it's not digitally signed and won't accept the driver after I force it to use it, and restart the pc.

WTF?

After I installed it, I notice a yellow exclamation mark next to my audio in device manager. I clicked disable then enable and it disappeared. But no sound is coming through my speakers. I think this is a conflict between the ethernet card and my speakers - problem is, my drivers are not updating

XP is based on Win2k, but XP is supposedly just more fancy and user friendly than Win2k.

Does the driver say for both Win2k and XP, or are there seperate driver folders (on the CD presumably) for win2k and XP?

There's no mention of Win XP on the CD. Has the folders: "Win95, Win98, Win2000, WinNT" and a few other folders which I have do idea why.

I did a search on the internet and I found out the 2000 driver will work fine but the sound conflict means I have to update my sound's driver or rollback (why tho I don't understand?).

[EDIT] Rollbacking my audio's driver worked - hurray \0/[/EDIT
