This seems an odd statement for someone who is usually so determined to have more possible strategies for doing well in pa. Would it not be better to have defending other people be a viable option for doing well? something which it really is not at the moment.
Of course ideally alliances reward defence; those who defend get higher def points and more def themselves. Or perhaps other benefits - like being able to pick targets first. However we all know in practice people who attack more gain more roids, need more def, and take more. As a result I think there probably should be bigger benefits to defending.
There does seem to me to be a big difference between a desire for increased def xp and a desire for increased salvage. Increased salvage benefits those defending themselves as much as others and as such is an invitation for salvage farming. Def xp at the moment can be farmed in the sense of sending single ships to def but as Mz and others have said that could be solved if the xp is done based upon percentage of fleet value. I would also want to have xp higher when there are higher casualties so rewarding those who send on riskier defences.
As a side note would we be having this discussion if this were not a, a very attack focused round and b, a round with a lot of attack xp?
