Calling All Wii Owners!
It's been out for a while now and I'd like to take a little poll. I would appreciate it if you are completely honest.
Do you stand up whilst playing on the Wii?
If so, what percentage of Wii time is spentstanding?
When it came out there were all kinds of tupid reports saying the Wii can help you get fit. this was clearly not a shock as jumping about=getting fitter' was not some kind of scientific breakthrough. It was apparant to me (and probably to everyone else) that after a very short honeymoon period people would find a way to play the games sitting down and essentially remove any sort health benefits.
So?

Re: Calling All Wii Owners!
Having spent a good 4 hours playing it at my friends house, you can do either, but it some games (nearly all the wii sports ones) you do better if you stand up and put some effort into it.
So I guess it's better to get a wii rather than gym membership.

Re: Calling All Wii Owners!
Like CF said, for Wii Sports you do far better, and it is actually far more fun, if you stand up and try to get into the games properly. For the other ones it just depends on what game you are playing and what exactly you are doing at the time. I seem to vary between standing up in action sequences while sitting down if I am just strolling around in Zelda or something.
Also agreeing on the gym membership, unfortunately I found that out about two weeks too late

Re: Calling All Wii Owners!
How often do you play the standing up games though?
Where the hell is my reply on Facebook god-damn it!
Honestly, I don't know why I bother, I really don't.

I've been crying into my drink over the football
(well I was actually watching Heroes, it has become so hard to avoid spoilers I thought I may as well try to get through them all asap, the first thing would have happened otherwise though!)
I play the standing games most often probably. The Wii Sports is one of my favourite games even if the graphics are shit, multiplayer especially is great fun.

Re: Calling All Wii Owners!
I stand up for the bowling and boxing games, but otherwise there isn't much point. I can do significantly better at golf by sitting down and just flicking my wrist - the damned thing's crap if you're actually standing up, you end up not hitting anything or overshooting by a mile.
It feels more fun when you're standing up though. On my birthday I broke out the bottle of whiskey my flatmate had bought me and the three of us had an actually pretty fun night in boxing and bowling while becoming slightly more tipsy and, as a result, going at the tasks at hand with a bit more gusto.
Looking stupid's part of the enjoyment I reckon.

Re: Calling All Wii Owners!
I generally stand for most titles. For the most part this gives far better control. Occasionally if a game is forgiving enough I will sit down as it gives me a better chance to steady my hand whilst being less tiresome on the feet.
The sort of titles I choose though tend to be very action orientated as they are the best fun with a few drunken mates (wii sports. warioware, mario party, rayman etc..)

you don't need to stand up for the football game (I forget the name), it is rather fun though

Re: Calling All Wii Owners!
I've only played Wii-games a few times when visiting a mate. The first night we played for six hours straight. Tennis, bowling, golf, boxing, etc. I could feel it in my arm for one week! After that we've found better techniques and it's really just back to normal gaming now without getting sweaty (sometimes though).
Think everyone eventually will found out you don't have to jump around the room to play

Re: Calling All Wii Owners!
I stand up for Sports and Smooth Moves although I don't play that very much. It would probably be easier to stand up for Spiderman 3 but I haven't tried yet

Re: Calling All Wii Owners!
I am not really a fan of Wii Sports. It gets very boring after the initial honey moon period.
I only play Tiger Woods. Although I stand up to play I doubt it provides any health benefits.
