Saddam Found Not Guilty!
Ousted Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussain has been foud not guilty on all charges relating to the alleged murder of 148 Shi'ite men in Dujail after an assassination attempt against Saddam in 1982.

Hussain, who will be 70 next year is said to be 'thrilled' at the verdict and is expected to give a speech on the steps of the court-room, later this afternoon. It is also expected that he shall start a campaign to retrieve his old job and be seeking billions in compensation for wrongful dismissal from America and it's allies.

U.S. President is said to be 'dumbfoundeded' at the verdict and is said to be demanding a re-trial 'American-style'.

this is yet another blow for the U.S. Administration whose case for war depended on the fact that Saddam was a 'bloody and ruthless tyrant' after no W.M.D. were found.

What impact this verdict may have on Iraqi politics is not yet been considered, with no-one (including Hussain, himself) expecting the verdict to be not guilty. Some are predicting a bloody civil war whilst others hope he will swoop to power on a wave of popular support to rule the Iraqi people in a way, as Judge Mohammed al-Uraibiy described as 'tough but fair.'

Sometimes I've thought, why does this bastard get a trial in the first place? Why couldn't we have popped a cap in him as soon as he came out of the spider hole?

But then again, do we want to sink to his level? And besides, the US Constitution forbids bills of attainder (a law declaring someone guilty, without trial).

But don't you know, mentioning the neg rep will only get you 2-3 more for mentioning it.

As for not very many martyrs being alive, I always thought that you didn't become a martyr until you died anyway.

I heard about his conviction earlier today and I actually grinned. Then they raised the price of gas by a Quarter an hour before the elections were over and I went back to being grumpy.
