Windows XP Reloaded?
Apparantly to be released some time soon this year.
Why the word Reloaded?

Re: Windows XP Reloaded?
Rumor? I thought Billy Boy Stressed there was to be no mid-relese between XP and Longhorn.
I wanna think false mostly because it plays off of Matrix. Source?

Re: Windows XP Reloaded?
At least it'll provide some sense of closure, unlike WinXP Reloaded.

Re: Windows XP Reloaded?
I'd say a very big rumor with a title that just rings Matrix.

Re: Windows XP Reloaded?
It might not even be a product (current theory is it could be a marketing campaign).
As for the codename, well MS have always used daft codenames (XP was codenamed Whistler). I'm guessing the geek ratio on the Windows development team is quite high, so a matrix reference doesn't surprise me...
Full details here.

Re: Windows XP Reloaded?

ooo turns out longhorn is a bar at the base of whistler mountain. its between whistler and blackcomb from what i can gather.
which is precisely what longhorn is.... !
http://www.winsupersite.com usually has info on windows. it doesnt mention this.

Re: Windows XP Reloaded?
right after googling it seems that reloaded is simply XP with all the recent windows updates and bug fixes. better antivirus code etc.
the current version of XP was written so long ago that you ha ve to download a shit load of updates before you even begin. Also Sp2 is being released this summer so presumably "reloaded" will incoporate all this into one unified system so home users dont have to download so much.

Re: Windows XP Reloaded?
I wonder how many stupid users are going to download and install SP1 and then SP2 or even better intsall the hot fixes before installing a SP.

Re: Windows XP Reloaded?
Well, from the screenshots there is some spruced up looks to XP. I would imagine we would be getting a new Comctl32.dll (Windows Theme .DLL) as well. The current version is 6 and its only found in XP.

Whistler and Longhorn were named after Ski lodges somewhere or something like that

Re: Windows XP Reloaded?
I suspect that XP Reloaded is akin to windows 98 second edition.
