Only yesterday a friend was asking for a "spare time device" as she forgot to put her contact lenses in and couldn't see the clocks.

So watches are required to counter severe cases of idiocy?

There's an ancient chinese recipe to use watches to cure cancer. TK should try it.

Seriously, the fact that you lot would even contemplate spending £500+ on a watch is hilarious. If any of you are actually rich then fair enough, but it's pretty tragic when poor people buy things they obviously cant afford just to make others believe they are wealthy or have 'class'.

Re: Watches
I like having a watch as it means I can track how late / early I am and therefore change my speed when going to the train station or whatnot. I don't have a mobile phone and if I did I'd dislike having to get it out of my pocket everytime I wanted to know the time.
Needless to say my watch didn't cost £500.

Re: Watches
Some people don't. one of my best friends' boyfriends doesn't have a phone. He goes off to war zones to teach the children how to read and she doesn't hear from him for a month or so. It's weird, when so many people these days do.

Re: Watches
Why not just buy a watch that tells the time and doesn't cost you £50

Re: Watches
I hadn't read nod's post before but now I have and I agree with him wholeheartedly!
I wouldn't want to impress the kind of people who make a judgement about you based on what kind of watch you have. It's there to tell the time - not something you should spend anything over £50 on.
If you're rich enough and can afford it, then fine. But if it's just an expensive fashion accessory I think I'd rather spend £100-£500 on clothes, thanks all the same.
