I dont see a need to give my history - in fact I keep myself to myself, and my entire zealous nature in this game is one of my many masks across the internet community.

Essentially in real life I do the same - keep myself to myself. Ive never really tried to 'fit in' or do things I dont want to (Even at the Fury meet I tried to retain this - and angered Cryptic :P)

Am I content? I dont know. Some days I wish things were different - others...

But how about a person who is like, always busy playing basketball (and then i dont mean like playing some streetball with friends but like alone and in competitive form) and who has no life besides basketball, would u call that person a nerd too?

Also ppl get stamped as nerds on their physical appearance pretty quickly (not that i ever experienced that) and in some cases that is the truth cuz nerds spend less time on working on their appearance then ppl who rent bhind pc's, but some ppl just dont care

All i wanted to say was: when i judge myself im a 3, i am a pa-addict i wont deny it. Though i dont know about my pc-activity when pa is gone, i sure will keep hanging around on IRC (dfa for life ) bcuz i made very special friends during my time playing the game (did that sound nerd-ish??) Mayb i'll turn into a true 4 when i go to college but i doubt it, cuz then pa is gone and i aint gonna play pa-clones as actively as i did with pa. Also i will spend my first college year abroad.

Bit hard to rate myself but I'd go for the 3 (and a bit )

But often I wonder aswell, when you see an opped person, or someone who once achieved a somewhat high-ish rank in a previous round saying a thing as 'Do you know who I am?!' or 'You dont know who you're messing with'
And then I wonder what kind of a person this would be irl, luckily the netgamers gallery showed me a few faces, and most of the time you see its a 1 or 2 (by your ranking) person who's making comments like that and is acting all tough. (not saying this goes for all)

But its fked up that someone would let his ego grow and expects respect over achievements in an online war.

I actually do believe most of the posts here are honest yes.

What some people on these forums from time to time forget, is that it are human beings they are dealing with. If you're calling a nickname a retard, you're calling that person or atleast the character he presents on the net a retard. Nobody in here can honestly claim they don't mind being called a retard cause 'it are just online nerds'. Those who do claim that ARE nerds, in a very different way than most people might at first hand think about.

Personally I don't mind anyone fitting in any of the groups. I dislike people with an arrogance, but I dont dislike 'nerds'. Aslong as you're happy with the way you're spending your time and life, nobody has the right to say a fk about that you have to change.

Like Jorinn I can build a PC or install Linux (unlike him I do need the manuals somewhere close by though ) yet I'm not a nerd. I use a computer as a tool and nothing more. Right now I'm hiding from reality somewhat, hence my presence in PA. With it's ability to suck you in it's a great place to hide and forget about reality for a while.

I've met some pretty nice people (personas, call them what you will) while I've been here though and will almost certainly be joining them in Eve when it finally appears. Between the end of PA and the start of Eve I'll no doubt rejoin the real world and start to rebuild my life, there's no way I'll play Eve with the dedication I've shown PA.

12 months ago I was out drinking 4-5 nights a week and living with someone I adored. Now I spend most of my free time sitting alone behind a computer typing inanities to people scattered round the world. PA ending will be a blessing for me as I'll have no choice but to put myself back together properly and move on.

I've always maintained that my IRC persona is the real me, it's not an act put on to amuse or entertain people, it's not meant to piss people off, it's just me. It's not though, not really, because 'me' wouldn't have downloaded it in the first place, 'me' would have been too busy having fun.

So, I have to say number 3. Average screwed up bitch hiding from life

And my IRC/online 'persona' matches me perfectly, I'm the quiet one who lurks in the corner watching everything, and pops up/speaks when it's least expected.

How would I rate myself. Well I certainly would never pick a number. I'm tired of fitting into categories other people make. Here's who I am, decide for yourself.

I get along well with well with almost everyone who knows me. As with all schools the one I attend has an in crowd and various other crowds, I'm welcome in most of them. I live in the middle of nowhere, but I still go out and socialise. There is no way I am the 'prom king' but I'm not sure that is what I want anyway.
A year ago I was a complete nerd. Now, well, I am still good with computers. I am still far more intelligent than most people I know. I am however far more sociable, and far more comfortable, the nerd in me is still there, but he is not the only part.
Things like going out and drinking don't really do it for me. I see it as a necessary evil. It makes me feel more comfortable about myself because I seem more normal, and yet the very fact that seems to make me comfortable makes me uncomfortable.
Who do I want to be? I don't know. I really haven't a f'cking clue. Do I try to fit in, and hope I will change and become more like everyone else, or do I just be myself, fit in a bit, and be more comfortable most of the time, but lose the chance of becoming truely happy with who I am?

Anyway, on to the point I really want to make. Why does it matter. If I have problems in my life what business is it of yours? You can't fix them for me. Running away from your problems is bad, but forgetting them for a while can be very good. Getting away from life and trying things in the relative security of the net can help people gain confidence, as long as it is kept in perspective.
One of the things I value about the net is you can leave behind parts of yourself. There are bits of me I don't like, so I leave them behind. The net isn't real life, and PA certainly isn't, so why should who we are in real life matter.

hmm id say 3, i goto the football weekly with m8s, i get stoned most nights of the week or if not stoned i go out normaly 2 nights a week, but sometimes i would miss things due to playing, but i know m8s whove stayed in playing on ps2 rather then coming out, so tbh i'm no more nerdy then any other. and i sit around watching my computer rather then watching tv . bascially i have a job, college, social life and pa. and they change importante and regular intervals coz id be first to admit ive missed a 'few' days of college to play pa.

i hang with what you could call the "popular guys" i have a pretty good look, and i like to go out on partyes etc.
i dont know very much about computers. i now how to use internett and how to play games, but when it comes to programing and such i dont have a clue.

as i sayd i like to be with my friend in the evnings, but sometimes its nice to sit down infront of the computer, and chat with all my frinds i got here.

i also get up at nigth to launch attacks etc. and i feel a bit sad when i lose my fleet. and that i would say is a bit nerd.

i was always popular at school. always had the ability to be friends with everyone. Like when i was at school it was always the Casuals vs the skaterpoofs (didnt really have bams or goths then) but i always managed to be mates with everyone. wouldnt say i was a prom king but i remember when i left school a group of my school-mates said that "everyone at school looked up to me" i was always the mature one i suppose - going out clubbing, weekdays watching football at the pub with a bunch of 20 something mates rather than homework when the rest of them were still going camping on the weekend

corse then i hit uni, where popularity doesnt really exist, and then left uni for work, where popularity is the person who brings the milk for the coffee into the staff room in the morning
