Well he is really young, but 7,5mill i think it is too much. 4-5 mill would be the most i wouldve paid.

Re: [Football] The January Transfer Window (UK Transfers Only)
ashton is an absolutely top-drawer player and in my view, one in line for an england callup. it's a fair price for him, but given how depressed the transfer market seems to be at the moment, it's a surprising one.

Young english players generally go for far more than they are worth. I was surprised by west ham seeing as harewood and zamora seem to be scoring their fair share of goals and their defence needs strengthening more than anything else.

I guess the old "we need 4 quality strikers" is the reasoning behind this, but like you said harewood and zamoras form is quality atm and there defence lets in there fair share of goals. Its a bit like villa buyin another striker when we need another defender

Ashton definately isn't worth £7m even taking the "he's young and english" into consideration.
Not by a long stretch.

Re: [Football] The January Transfer Window (UK Transfers Only)
Ashton at £7.5M is outrageous, considering he's worth £4-5M at a push.
Although credit must go to Burnley today, who managed to persuade the blunts to pay £1.75M for Ade Akinbiyi
In other news
Pompey sign Kiely on an undisclosed
Sheringham is now on the market - sign him up 'arry and make him captain.

Just to intervene on the Danny Cullip issue.
At div 2 level, danny cullip is not shit. He was the heart of Brighton's defence in div 2 and caught the eye in what is a pisspoor div 1 level (through no fault of albion's).

Allegedly , Riordans had a falling out with Mogga
This could see him at Rangers for a fee similar to what they paid for Boyd.
I know the Hibees would rather see him go to Germany, but if the boy knows Rangers are interested, I think hes rather stay here.

Re: [Football] The January Transfer Window (UK Transfers Only)
Blackburn boss Mark Hughes strengthens his forward line with a double signing. Liverpool striker Florent Sinama Pongolle joins on loan until the end of the season, while Arsenal forward David Bentley signs for an undisclosed fee.
I thought Sinama Pongolle was n't doing too badly for Liverpool...

Re: [Football] The January Transfer Window (UK Transfers Only)
We needed someone else to play alongside or preferably instead of Kuqi, so Pongolle seems like a good signing. Bentley has been doing well for us and isnt good enough to break in to the Arsenal team so its no surprise we've snapped him up.
The panic buy of the day has to be DJ going to Birmingham.
