Read into the lyrics, think of someone injecting themselves with a Golden Brown liquid , then lying down and enjoying a "high".

Obviously this was written before Heroin became a huge scourge on the nation and killed thousands of drug addicts. Although from a personal point of view, if you want to inject a near lethal toxin into your bloodstream , ****ing-a , thats one less moron in the gene pool.

The Stranglers were a semi-psychopathic punk band. Hence ,any "Love Song" they wrote was guaranteed to have a second meaning, since it was so utterly out of character.
