you are stood away from the Holo Display as you look at the plan the SO and TO have come up with - although most of the scientific waffle goes over your head as they point out the effect you can see that this is really the only option you have

SO - scans show that the GRIPSTAR has sufferd serious damage sir - she is shielding her Assault Craft

MC - we are on our way sir

WC - phew some plan but we can execute it sir - after all we are the best in the business

on screen (and on AK ship as well) the missiles and weapons fire hits the 230000 tonne middle asteroid of the three - volley after volley after volley of weapons fire, missiles and fusion bombs from the Jupiter fighters smashes the Asteroid in to thousands of shards of deadly rubble - then the Gravatic Missiles smash home throwing the shards toward the other two massive asteroid giants.

Meanwhile a swarm of EMP missiles hit and detonate near or on their intended targets - it seems that luck has been with you as Cid Killers attack has concided with your attack it is a DEVASTATING SUCCESS

Youe ship is rocked by a series of Energy Blasts as the Destroyers close from the stern at BATTLE SPEED and firing all weapons.

Cid: And get me a coffee, something tells me I will need it.

WC: "Doc! Our fighters report that their fire has hardly made a dent in the asteroid base's shields!"

TO: "Confirmed. They suffered only minimal damage to their shields and most of it was due to The Gripstar's phased hellborne cannon."

Burnham: "Damn! We need to get hold of those bases if we want to prevail against these thugs."

SO: "Captain, The Gripstar has just launched their troops transports at both bases. They seem to want to try and board them without taking down those shields first!"

Burnham: "What? Are they mad?"

TO: "No. It can be done, but it is very risky. Then again, not doing anything is even riskier. A ground assault might very well be worth a try."

Burnham: "Hm. Very well. Order MC Kyra to prepare for a ground assault and give their shuttle permission to launch. Order the fighters to protect the shuttle at all costs."

WC: "Assault shuttle Omega has been launched and is underway. All fighter squadrons have confirmed their new orders."

Burnham: "Right, now let's see what we can do about those destroyers. What's the status on that plan with the gravatic missiles?"

SO: "Letice and I have let the computer run some simulations and we came to the conclusion that the plan needs some modifciations in order to have a chance to work. Allow us to explain."

SO: "As you may know, asteroid fields are semi-stable. That is, their place and density as a whole are pretty stable, but its internal structure is constantly changing and mostly unpredictable. This asteroid field is slightly different."

* The SO and TO, followed by Dr. Burnham, walk over to a seperate screen away from the main viewscreen. The TO pushes a button and the screen flickers to life, displaying a map of the asteroid field.

TO: This is a map of the asteroid field and these three large dots here, are our problem. They are three really big asteroids that keep the asteroid field in a sort of gratitational equilibrium. Any perturbance that is not sufficently big will be absorbed by these three asteroids. Our gravatic missiles are unable to generate an implosion that is big enough. However. If we study the positions of these three asteroids and add to that the positions of the enemy destroyers, it can be seen that the asteroids are positioned in a triangular position with the destroyers in the middle with this big asteroid here between right between us and the destroyers."

Burnham: "So how does that help us?"

SO: "If we manage to blow up this big asteroid and cause it to fragment, the gravitational equilibrium will be broken and the asteroid debris will move in the direction of the other two asteroids, crossing the path of the approaching destroyers. Normally this process takes a while to complete, however, we believe that if we fire all our gravatic missiles and detonate them at the correct spot, we can create a cascade effect that will speed up this process by a factor thousand. This means that effectively, we'd be shooting a couple of tonnes of asteroid buckshot at nearly half the speed of light in the direction of those destroyers. It won't destroy them, but it is very nasty and it will cause quite a bit of damage to their systems and their hulls if hit."

TO: "We recommend firing a barrage of EMP missiles at both of the destroyers to cause havoc on their ship's sensors. Without their sensors, they're as good as blind and they won't be able to properly navigate an asteroid field and they certainly won't see our asteroid buckshot coming at them. Like Larry said; it is very nasty."

SO: "The process requires some timing of course, but that shouldn't be a problem. What is a problem, is this asteroid. Even if we combine our AFD and AMD systems and direct them towards the asteroid we will probably not have enough power to fragment the asteroid. However, if we use our jupiter class bombers to 'soften up' the asteroid before we fire at it, it should be enough to tear the thing apart."

Burnham: "If we do that, will that leave enough defenders for our assault transport?"

TO: "Yes. It should. Especially if we fire some EMP rockets at the asteroid base too. Their sensors won't be able to track our transport, let alone get a weapon's lock on it."

Burnham: "It sounds like a good plan. Very well, make it so."

SO & TO: "Yes Dr. Burnham!"

Burnham: "Frank, Larry will provide you with the coordinates of a big asteroid. Order the jupiter bombers to unload their weapons on that big asteroid. The other fighters must still protect our transport."

WC: "Relaying orders to Alpha Squardron now. Beta and Gamma Squadrons remain at their original objectives."

Burnham: "Letice, fire a volley of EMP missiles at the asteroid base and then one at each of the destroyers and then proceed according to plan."

TO: "Missiles underway!"

No1: "This had better work..."

ACTIONS:

- Helm is taking evasive action.
- Wounded are being brought to sickbay and treated there. MASH teams are to help out.
- Damage is being repaired as fast as possible by ADCT troops.
- EO is trying to regenerate the shields using the spare energy units from the FTL drives.
- Assault shuttle Omega (carrying 2 shock troops and 1 heavy infantry as stated in previous posts) has been launched and is to initiate a ground assault on the asteroid base.
- fighters are split up in 3 groups:
-Alpha Squadron: 70 Jupiter Class -> bombers; attack large asteroid (NOT the asteroid base).
-Beta Squadron: 12 Slipstream Fighters -> escort; protect assault shuttle Omega.
-Gamma Squadron: 20 Light Fighters Alpha Class -> escort; protect assault shuttle Omega.
- One volley (20 rockets) of EMP missiles is shot at the asteroid base to disable their sensors so that they cannot target assault shuttle Omega.
- One volley (20 rockets) of EMP missiles is shot at each of the destroyers (so 40 rockets in total) to disable their sensors and hinder their navigation.
- AMD and AFD systems are fired on the large asteroid (NOT the asteroid base) to make it fragment after Alpha Squadron has softened it up.
- Six volleys (36 rockets) of gravatic missiles are launched and detonated at the right (computer calcualted) point between the former large, but presently fragmented asteroid and the approaching enemy destroyers in order to treat them to a friendly load asteroid buckshot as explained above. (I hope it is all clear. If not, you can always ask. )

Fluffie grumbles, annoyed and angry, as several crewmen come over to help him.

No. 1 – “Aye aye.”

”EO, damage report on the view screen please. MD, what’s your status?”

MD – “Twenty-five injured, eight dead.”

Although nearly impossible, Fluffie’s expression darkens.

“Tend to the wounded. Keep a list of the dead, we’ll mourn and hold a ceremony for them later.”

MD – “Will do.”

The SO gasps, while pointing at the view screen as he brings up the data received on the Scout next to the damage report of The Outsider.

SO – “God… Look at it. We could die here. Our Hyper Drive is offline, we…”

The Science Officer sighs a terribly deep sigh. The situation did, indeed, look grim.
Fluffie’s voice lashes out however, this time even more angry than when he refused help.

We? Die here? We are going to take that ship or we are going to obliterate it. Do you understand me?”

SO – “Sir… Yes sir?”

“Listen to me. All of you, damnit. We didn’t start out on becoming mercenaries, privateers, freelancers or whatever you want to call us now, to go and get shot up on the first mission.”

The WO grins. Fluffie grins too, although it is a bit of a bitter and grim grin.

“Well we did already get shot up, but we’re going to win here. We, will not, die. Understood?”

No. 1 – “Sir.”

SO, EO – “Aye. Cap’n.”

WO – “Think I’d sign up on a weak-ass ship? No ship I’ve been on has ever lost, y’know.”

”And we’ll keep it that way. With a bit of luck, we’ll have that ship under our own command, or better, we’ll use their systems and become a ****n’ deadly monster of killing madness ourselves.”

Comms – “I’ve been monitoring communications from and to the science vessel, our ally has taken the station and is most likely to boost it’s weapons another 100%, also there is another Police Cruiser there which they could man and launch.”

“Right. This means we could take a rest soon and have a fresh Police Cruiser take some of the pounding ánd that we have another battery of weapons or two to fire at them.”

WO – “Which we can certainly use… One of the Particle Lasers is damaged… As well as our AMD. I’ll see if it’ll still fire.”

EO – “If we take too much pounding, we’ll be dead in the wate… dead in space. We are quite damaged.”

No. 1 – “Until we get that fresh Police Cruiser in the air, which should hopefully be soon, might I suggest the current flying one takes the next round of pounding? They are in better shape than we are…”

“Yeah…”

Comms – “Sending request. Lets hope they agree… Also requesting the scientists to launch that Police Cruiser ASAP and have it join the formation.”

Helm – “Continuing attack runs, trying some evasive manoeuvres..”

WO – “Preparing to fire, focussing weapons fire on their forward shields.”

No. 1 – “Now why wouldn’t they have launched their fighters? Are they under crewed? They aren’t Chrono Borg after all…”

“Maybe the Insectid aren’t familiar enough with the technology to be able to launch those fighters? Wait…”

No. 1 – “Wait?”

”No, open a channel to Lt. Com. Kama.”

Comms – taps a few buttons – “Open.”

“My dear scientist… According to our data, the Insectids haven’t launched the Borg fighters aboard. Maybe this would imply that they aren’t that familiar with the technology they’re using, so I had an idea… With your advanced facilities and maybe the aid of your newly acquired space station, congratulations on that by the way, could you maybe look into the option of hacking into their systems? Lower or disable their shields, maybe take offline their FTL drive, so that I can get close and get my Marines aboard. Surely this’d be a great opportunity, if you could get some good and detailed scans on a vessel such as this… And maybe some captured or dead Insectids. I urge you to look into this option and do it fairly quickly, for I don’t know how much more superglue my Engineering crew can bring forth. Let me hear if it’s going to work so I can prepare for an assault. Fluffie out.”

WO – totally ignoring the above communication - looking up from his station for a split second – “Or maybe those forsaken bugs don’t fit in them. Hehehe, I bet that’d be damn annoying for them.”

“How big are they anyway? Maybe if there’s a few of them, maybe we can find a way to get our Marines aboard and defeat them up close?” [questions to be answered by LH maybe through one or so of my officers?]

Both ADCTs still repairing both Reflex Cannons.
All other available and elsewhere not needed crew repairing other damage (shields, drives, weapons have priority (in that order)).
Continuing attack runs (although trying to add in some evasive manoeuvres), though changing formation so that the Police Cruiser will now (try and) take the hits, weapon frequencies still rotating.
((Tried to inspire) the crew to be more aggressive and effective and believe in the fact that Fluffies always win.)
Ask Kama to launch that Kipire Police Cruiser ASAP and put it under my control for the duration of the battle.

There was a lot of running involved, which was a shame, because running sucks, but eventually a concise number of Kama's officers were ready to launch the Police Cruiser.

Back with Kama himself, engineers and technicians were darting about with long stretches of cabling and looking to be having too much fun in an altogether around sort of way, in their element. The Lt. Commander was thinkering about as well, carefully scanning the data coming in from three directions.

"Looks like the Crimson Fist were trying to reverse engineer some Kipire technology, the ship out there with Fluffie seems to be of similar design to that in the hangar. Efficient, I guess they were looking at mass production,,, with a little less, Ursidaety, am I reading that right, the original was piloted by 'bears'..?

Do your best, follow Fluff and engage the Borg."

With the station's systems doing all that bootstrap jazz, the drone fighters are brought to his attention.

"Remote controll / auto pilot, that could be useful to fall back on, have a team warm up the jets, we'll scramble the fighters as soon as the stations main computer is running. Tie that in with our science vessel, but until then devote our research centre's processing power into highjacking the Borg ship's computer systems, maybe we can trick it into releasing that extra shield power."

The Tuatha De Danann starts shutting down auxilary systems now safely inside the hangar of the station, while the adjacent Police Cruiser lights to life and begins a less graceful lumber forward and someone steps on the bear sized accelerator.

Summary
  • Minimum crew launch the Cetian Police Cruiser (same as the Crimson First ship, but cooler) - Fluff has control of it's orders once it catches up.
  • Research Centre and Kama's computers interfer with the Borg systems as best can be done - they mess with it's feedback loop, trying to make the shields dump the extrra power >100% reserve that they have to either, waste the energy, or burn out the shield generator.
  • Kama's ship to jump start the stations power systems. Turn on weapons systems and warm up the hawk class drones.
  • Less emphasis on scanning until the next round to fire hits.

6)have engineer crew reapair the engin and divert power from scanner to shield
7)keep tracking the 3 far runabout and launch the remaining fighter if they make a hit run toward the cruiser
8)keep charging the PPC (3rd post) and fire at the far runabouts if they closed in.

Cid slowly gains back control to his real eye, his bio-electrical eye had ceased to work after the plate smacked the back of his head. He looked down to see the Comms Officer look back at him, but with considerably less body than usual. It took a few seconds for Cid to recognise that the head had been severed, but his thoughts were concentrating on the battle around him. He lifted the head from his lap and placed it to his side as he stood back up, wobbled and decided it was better to sit down.

MO: Sir, we have sustained heavy casualties in multiple areas of the ship.
Cid: Get the MASH working on the double! All important stations are to be temporarily compensated for, that includes my Communications Officer!
MO: Aye, sir!
Cid: And get the medical hologram running in the medibay, I beleive we would need it.

Cid looked at the tactical readouts of the battle around them.

Cid: Okay, we are to stay as a main target until the marines are on 50% success, then we are to use our rear sheilds as we slowly climb away from the Asteroids, waiting for their takeover.
SO: Sir! Burnham has done something drastic, but it seems to have worked. He sent gravitech missiles into the asteroids, causing a buckshot effect towards the destroyers. One of them is completely disabled, the other is not far off either.
Cid: Excellent, I will let the doctor take care of them whilst I make sure these asteroid bases stop shooting at us.

Cid ended that sentance with a stand up, flop back down as his bio-mechanical leg ceased to work properly.

Cid: And can someone please find out what the heck is going wrong with my bio-mechanics!

SO: "It worked! The plan worked! Both destroyers have taken heavy damage and one of them has even been completely disabled!"

Burnham: "Excellent work, Larry and Letice! And that goes for the rest of you too, ladies and gentlemen. Keep it up and we'll teach them pirates a lessons they won't easily forget!"

* The entire bridgecrew cheered loudly and the good news spread through the ship like wildfire, uplifting the spirits of everyone that was aboard.

TO: "Thanks love. I hate to be the one to spoil the moment, but those last few hits we took, have damaged our cloaking shield and one of our cold fusion drives seems to have gone offline."

No1: "That's not all, captain. Several more crewmen have been injured and regrettably there have also been three fatalities."

SO: "I'm afraid I have some more bad news. The Gripstar has suffered quite a bit of damage. Also, The Scythe has just arrived. As of yet, we're still out of their weapons' range but it'll only be a matter of time before that will change."

Comms: "Crap!"

TO: "Just when things were getting better..."

No1: "Whatever we do next, we'd better be fast, captain. Time isn't on our side on this one."

Burnham: "You're right; there's no time to waste. We need those destroyers to stand a chance against that fast attack carrier, so let's go and get them. Judy, take us to the disabled destroyer as fast as you can. Wayne, Alpha squadron is to attack the destroyer that is still operational, I want it disabled as well. Let all remaining troops prepare for boarding actions. Since Kyra is aboard the assault shuttle, the arm's master will be in charge of the troops aboard this ship."

Helm: "Moving towards the destroyer at full speed, captain. We'll be there momentarily."

WC: "Ordering Alpha squadron to attack the other destroyer's engine section. They're already heavily damaged; disabling them shouldn't be too difficult."

Burnham: "Engineering, come in please."

EO: "Sheila here, capt'n."

Burnham: "I want the cloaking shield repaired immediately! It has priority over all other systems, use as many men as it takes. All of the advanced damage control teams are at your disposal. When you're done, start working on that cold fusion drive, it is second on the list and has priority over all other systems, except the shields. In the mean time, disable the cold fusion drive from our AFDIII system and use its power to make up for the drive that went offline until it has been repaired."

EO: "Yes captain. I'll see to it immediately! Sheila out."

Burnham: "Do our allies need any help?"

No1: "I don't think so. Captain Flapjack is still unscathed and captain Killer is experienced enough to fend for his own. In fact, it's said he performs best when under a lot of strain."

Burnham: "In that case, cancel assault shuttle Omega's current boarding orders. Order them to board the disabled destroyer's engineering section and take control of it. Once in control, they must lock out all bridge controls and then cut power to all other systems except the shields and life support. Don't let them wait for us if they can be there faster. Beta and Gamma squadron's orders remain unchanged. They must protect the shuttle."

WC: "Relaying new orders to assault shuttle Omega. Omega has confirmed its new target. Beta and Gamma squadron are providing escort."

Burnham: "Excellent. Fire the remaining volley of EMP missiles at the closest asteroid base. I want to prevent them from locking on to us a tad longer."

TO: "Firing EMP missiles at the asteroid base. Missiles underway, captain!"

Burnham: "Good. Reload all launchers with the warheads from the cargobay and do it in their original configuration. Larry, perform some detailed scans of all enemy ships and bases and in particularly that fast attack carrier; see if you can find any weak spots or other information that may be useful."

TO & SO: "Affirmative."

Burnham: "Lisa, order the MASH teams to spread out through the ship and take care of our wounded. Lightly injured people are to be treated where they are so that they can get back to their duties quicker. The more heavily wounded crewmen are to be transported to the medbay for more adequate treatment."

No1: "Taking care of it now, Dr. Burnham."

ACTIONS:

- Ship is to fly towards disabled destroyer at maximum speed.
- Alpha Squadron (70 Jupiter Class bombers) is to target the engine section of the destroyer that is still operational in an atttempt to disable them quickly.
- All combat troops that are still on the ship are to prepare for boarding actions under supervision of the Arm's Master.
- EO is to use all available crewmen and all ADCT squads to to repair the cloaking shield as fast as possible at the cost of all other repairs. When done, priority shifts to the damaged cold fusion drive.
- The cold fusion drive that is linked to the AFDIII is disconnected form it and attached to the main power supply to make up for the drive that went offline until it has been repaired.
- Assault shuttle Omega is to disengage from its current target and proceed towards the disabled (same one, my main ship is going to board) destroyer's engineering section to board it. Once control in engineering has been established, they must lock out all bridge controls and all other systems, except for the shields and lifesupport.
- Launch another volley (20 missiles) of EMP missiles at the nearest asteroid base to prevent them from targeting my beautiful ship.
- Reload all launchers with the warheads from cargobay in their original configuration; 6 gravatic, 20 EMP. (Reloads left: 2 EMP and 1 gravatic.)
- (Re)scan all enemy ships in an attempt to find a weak spot or other valuable information.
- Mash teams treat wounded crewmen where they are to get people back to work asap. Only heavily wounded crewmen are transported to medbay.

*The heavy bulk cruiser Wanderer was powering towards the incoming pirate vessels having yet to fire a return shot at her aggressors. Jack stared quietly at the tactics screen of his weapons console, studing the numbers carefully as the gap to enemy ships closed rapidly. Abby was doing everything she could to keep the front shields active. Jim, the one man that should be concentrating the most, was casually lying back in his seat as he flew the ship. Scott was biting his nails. Tim was edgy. Hewitt took the opportunity to have the computer make him some coffee. *Wanderer continued to fly straight at the brigands. The old girl might've been out of military service for a long time now, but her armour was thick and her hull built to last. She took her licks quite nicely. She was as unstoppable as frieght train. By now the pirates had to be getting nervous as their attack turned into a game of chicken, the high powered, hi-tech gatling phasers dominating their ships proving about as effective as a BB-gun. Yet the Wanderer still refused to fire (were her weapon systems inactive?), so they continued to fire liberally.*

*Jim seemed to suddenly spring out of his over-relaxed state as he shut off all forward acceleration and diverted all drive power into the manevuering thrusters. All in one freakish movement. As the lower aft thrusters were thrown into 100+ %, the sluggish heavy cruiser began her slow roll forward exposing her missile banks for a better shot. A full load of gravatic missiles were set loose by Jack soon after, the whole attack making the Wanderer look like some giant metal trebuchet. Specially programmed on the spot by Jack, the volley Split up into two groups, seperating quickly before dispersing into two very widely spaced groups of twenty-four a piece. Taking advantage of the lack of specialised AMD, the missiles impacted all over the front of the pirate brigand, each striking with an air of arrogance as they spiralled down at random locations.*

*Hewitt's eyes narrowed as the missiles impacted all over their targets. While not partically damaging, the combined explosions were meant to block the targets sensors for a few precious moments so Wanderer could safety drift in between her assailants. It had worked before... but then in that situation not much was actually know how the detenation cloud caused blindness. It was about as theoretical then as it is now. What if itwas just a power outage that allowed them to survive last time?*

*In the moments of supposed blindiness, Jim did another of his jerking body moves as he activated the port and starboard vertical thrusters. Timed to occur just as the gravatic missiles exploded all around their targets, the modified thrust added another axis of rotation to the Wanderer, her transformation into a giant revolving batton complete. Twisting and spinning, the heavy bulk cruiser continues her slow-mo aerobatics until she is behind the clueless brigands, her roll coming onto vertical, her top side facing them. If sounds could travel through space the pirates would now be hearing the dreaded noise of a large number of whines and groans increasing in pitch as the seemingly lifeless batteries lining Wanderer's top deck become animated. Like a stalking predator getting ready to pounce she shows her teeth, gun ports glowing as she is primed for firing. Jack grits his teeth and pulls the multiple triggers, firing the full and only salvo of EMP missiles onboard, counts to three and then opens up with the main batteries...*

*He closes his eyes, he can't watch.*

*Wanderer had just made her lunge.*

SUMMARY

- Wanderer comes around and heads straight towards the two incoming brigands, with COPPITT 1 and 2 following closely.
- All shield power is diverted to the forward shields.

THE PLAN
- Wanderer closes with the two brigands without firing a shot.
- Just before the firing window closes, all forward acceleration CEASES.
- At the same time all drive power is switched to manevuering thrusters.
- At the same time vertical roll is initated by a 110% burst from the lower aft thrusters.
- At the same time two equal volleys of gravatic missiles are fired at the two brigands.
- The missiles are set to spread out and impact all over the forward shields, thus inducing temporary forward blindness.
- When the missiles impact, vertical port and starboard thrusters are activated to initate a second degree of roll to the ship, this one horizontal. The timing is meant to hide this move and hence add to the brigands confusion.
- If the thrusters are done properly, by the time the Wanderer passes in between the two brigands and is located directly behind them she should be near vertical and her top half facing the targets.
- Reverse Port/Starboard thrust is applied to stop horizontal roll
- Two groups of 40 EMP missiles are fired at EACH brigands engine port
- After a brief wait, 2 photon cannons, 2 Light Blaster Cannons and 1 light ion cannon is fired at EACH brigands engine port
- If the timing is correct, the EMP missiles should impact at the same time as the energy blasts. Hopefully, this will result in engine failures on both ships

After all this...
- All power levels for shields and engines are returned to normal.
- Main drives are engaged to full to reverse momentum back towards the brigands
- COPPITT 1 and 2 should be coming around and regrouping with the Wanderer

then time picks up again - the first part of the maniver worked like a dream - the missiles fired and the thrusters..... ah yes the thrusters.... you knew they needed an overhall, but you never got round to it. There was always something else that needed doing and now they have let you down

- Two groups of 40 EMP missiles are fired at EACH brigands engine port
- After a brief wait, 2 photon cannons, 2 Light Blaster Cannons and 1 light ion cannon is fired at EACH brigands engine port
- If the timing is correct, the EMP missiles should impact at the same time as the energy blasts. Hopefully, this will result in engine failures on both ships

After all this...
- All power levels for shields and engines are returned to normal.
- Main drives are engaged to full to reverse momentum back towards the brigands
- COPPITT 1 and 2 should be coming around and regrouping with the Wanderer

There was a lot of running involved, which was a shame, because running sucks, but eventually a concise number of Kama's officers were ready to launch the Police Cruiser.

"Remote controll / auto pilot, that could be useful to fall back on, have a team warm up the jets, we'll scramble the fighters as soon as the stations main computer is running. Tie that in with our science vessel, but until then devote our research centre's processing power into highjacking the Borg ship's computer systems, maybe we can trick it into releasing that extra shield power."

The Tuatha De Danann starts shutting down auxilary systems now safely inside the hangar of the station, while the adjacent Police Cruiser lights to life and begins a less graceful lumber forward and someone steps on the bear sized accelerator.

Summary
  • Minimum crew launch the Cetian Police Cruiser (same as the Crimson First ship, but cooler) - Fluff has control of it's orders once it catches up.
  • Research Centre and Kama's computers interfer with the Borg systems as best can be done - they mess with it's feedback loop, trying to make the shields dump the extrra power >100% reserve that they have to either, waste the energy, or burn out the shield generator.
  • Kama's ship to jump start the stations power systems. Turn on weapons systems and warm up the hawk class drones.
  • Less emphasis on scanning until the next round to fire hits.

“Listen to me. All of you, damnit. We didn’t start out on becoming mercenaries, privateers, freelancers or whatever you want to call us now, to go and get shot up on the first mission.”

The WO grins. Fluffie grins too, although it is a bit of a bitter and grim grin.

“Well we did already get shot up, but we’re going to win here. We, will not, die. Understood?”

No. 1 – “Sir.”

SO, EO – “Aye. Cap’n.”

WO – “Think I’d sign up on a weak-ass ship? No ship I’ve been on has ever lost, y’know.”

”And we’ll keep it that way. With a bit of luck, we’ll have that ship under our own command, or better, we’ll use their systems and become a ****n’ deadly monster of killing madness ourselves.”

Comms – “I’ve been monitoring communications from and to the science vessel, our ally has taken the station and is most likely to boost it’s weapons another 100%, also there is another Police Cruiser there which they could man and launch.”

“Right. This means we could take a rest soon and have a fresh Police Cruiser take some of the pounding ánd that we have another battery of weapons or two to fire at them.”

WO – “Which we can certainly use… One of the Particle Lasers is damaged… As well as our AMD. I’ll see if it’ll still fire.”

EO – “If we take too much pounding, we’ll be dead in the wate… dead in space. We are quite damaged.”

No. 1 – “Until we get that fresh Police Cruiser in the air, which should hopefully be soon, might I suggest the current flying one takes the next round of pounding? They are in better shape than we are…”

“Yeah…”

Comms – “Sending request. Lets hope they agree… Also requesting the scientists to launch that Police Cruiser ASAP and have it join the formation.”

Helm – “Continuing attack runs, trying some evasive manoeuvres..”

WO – “Preparing to fire, focussing weapons fire on their forward shields.”

No. 1 – “Now why wouldn’t they have launched their fighters? Are they under crewed? They aren’t Chrono Borg after all…”

“Maybe the Insectid aren’t familiar enough with the technology to be able to launch those fighters? Wait…”

No. 1 – “Wait?”

”No, open a channel to Lt. Com. Kama.”

Comms – taps a few buttons – “Open.”

“My dear scientist… According to our data, the Insectids haven’t launched the Borg fighters aboard. Maybe this would imply that they aren’t that familiar with the technology they’re using, so I had an idea… With your advanced facilities and maybe the aid of your newly acquired space station, congratulations on that by the way, could you maybe look into the option of hacking into their systems? Lower or disable their shields, maybe take offline their FTL drive, so that I can get close and get my Marines aboard. Surely this’d be a great opportunity, if you could get some good and detailed scans on a vessel such as this… And maybe some captured or dead Insectids. I urge you to look into this option and do it fairly quickly, for I don’t know how much more superglue my Engineering crew can bring forth. Let me hear if it’s going to work so I can prepare for an assault. Fluffie out.”

WO – totally ignoring the above communication - looking up from his station for a split second – “Or maybe those forsaken bugs don’t fit in them. Hehehe, I bet that’d be damn annoying for them.”

“How big are they anyway? Maybe if there’s a few of them, maybe we can find a way to get our Marines aboard and defeat them up close?” [questions to be answered by LH maybe through one or so of my officers?]

Continuing attack runs (although trying to add in some evasive manoeuvres), though changing formation so that the Police Cruiser will now (try and) take the hits, weapon frequencies still rotating.
((Tried to inspire) the crew to be more aggressive and effective and believe in the fact that Fluffies always win.)

Cid: Excellent, I will let the doctor take care of them whilst I make sure these asteroid bases stop shooting at us.

Cid ended that sentance with a stand up, flop back down as his bio-mechanical leg ceased to work properly.

Cid: And can someone please find out what the heck is going wrong with my bio-mechanics!

Judy, take us to the disabled destroyer as fast as you can. Wayne, Alpha squadron is to attack the destroyer that is still operational, I want it disabled as well. Let all remaining troops prepare for boarding actions. Since Kyra is aboard the assault shuttle, the arm's master will be in charge of the troops aboard this ship."

Helm: "Moving towards the destroyer at full speed, captain. We'll be there momentarily."

WC: "Ordering Alpha squadron to attack the other destroyer's engine section. They're already heavily damaged; disabling them shouldn't be too difficult."

Burnham: "Engineering, come in please."

EO: "Sheila here, capt'n."

Burnham: "I want the cloaking shield repaired immediately! It has priority over all other systems, use as many men as it takes. All of the advanced damage control teams are at your disposal. When you're done, start working on that cold fusion drive, it is second on the list and has priority over all other systems, except the shields. In the mean time, disable the cold fusion drive from our AFDIII system and use its power to make up for the drive that went offline until it has been repaired."

EO: "Yes captain. I'll see to it immediately! Sheila out."

Burnham: "Do our allies need any help?"

No1: "I don't think so. Captain Flapjack is still unscathed and captain Killer is experienced enough to fend for his own. In fact, it's said he performs best when under a lot of strain."

Burnham: "In that case, cancel assault shuttle Omega's current boarding orders. Order them to board the disabled destroyer's engineering section and take control of it. Once in control, they must lock out all bridge controls and then cut power to all other systems except the shields and life support. Don't let them wait for us if they can be there faster. Beta and Gamma squadron's orders remain unchanged. They must protect the shuttle."

WC: "Relaying new orders to assault shuttle Omega. Omega has confirmed its new target. Beta and Gamma squadron are providing escort."

Burnham: "Excellent. Fire the remaining volley of EMP missiles at the closest asteroid base. I want to prevent them from locking on to us a tad longer."

TO: "Firing EMP missiles at the asteroid base. Missiles underway, captain!"

Burnham: "Good. Reload all launchers with the warheads from the cargobay and do it in their original configuration. Larry, perform some detailed scans of all enemy ships and bases and in particularly that fast attack carrier; see if you can find any weak spots or other information that may be useful."

Burnham: "Lisa, order the MASH teams to spread out through the ship and take care of our wounded. Lightly injured people are to be treated where they are so that they can get back to their duties quicker. The more heavily wounded crewmen are to be transported to the medbay for more adequate treatment."

No1: "Taking care of it now, Dr. Burnham."

ACTIONS:

- Ship is to fly towards disabled destroyer at maximum speed.
- Alpha Squadron (70 Jupiter Class bombers) is to target the engine section of the destroyer that is still operational in an atttempt to disable them quickly.
- All combat troops that are still on the ship are to prepare for boarding actions under supervision of the Arm's Master.
- EO is to use all available crewmen and all ADCT squads to to repair the cloaking shield as fast as possible at the cost of all other repairs. When done, priority shifts to the damaged cold fusion drive.
- The cold fusion drive that is linked to the AFDIII is disconnected form it and attached to the main power supply to make up for the drive that went offline until it has been repaired.
- Assault shuttle Omega is to disengage from its current target and proceed towards the disabled (same one, my main ship is going to board) destroyer's engineering section to board it. Once control in engineering has been established, they must lock out all bridge controls and all other systems, except for the shields and lifesupport.
- Launch another volley (20 missiles) of EMP missiles at the nearest asteroid base to prevent them from targeting my beautiful ship.
- Reload all launchers with the warheads from cargobay in their original configuration; 6 gravatic, 20 EMP. (Reloads left: 2 EMP and 1 gravatic.)
- (Re)scan all enemy ships in an attempt to find a weak spot or other valuable information.
- Mash teams treat wounded crewmen where they are to get people back to work asap. Only heavily wounded crewmen are transported to medbay.

1 light second from FRODAN

a larhe area of space resembling a black hole erupts in a vortex of swirling light that slowly folds in on itself 2 ships emerge 1 bigger than the other - bristling with weapons and bigger than most other ships it almost dwarves the second ship also emerging from the Black hole are 10 other smaller vessels - much smaller

as the black hole fades and normal space returns the 2 ships appear to be Carriers

one is a FAST ATTACK CARRIER called the SCYTHE

the other much bigger ship is a COMMAND CARRIER and appears to be state of the art it is called the DRAGON WING

with her is 10 Scimitar Class Destroyers as an escort

her course is the FRODAN SYSTEM

A full load of gravatic missiles were set loose by Jack soon after, the whole attack making the Wanderer look like some giant metal trebuchet. Specially programmed on the spot by Jack, the volley Split up into two groups, seperating quickly before dispersing into two very widely spaced groups of twenty-four a piece. Taking advantage of the lack of specialised AMD, the missiles impacted all over the front of the pirate brigand, each striking with an air of arrogance as they spiralled down at random locations.*

*Hewitt's eyes narrowed as the missiles impacted all over their targets. While not partically damaging, the combined explosions were meant to block the targets sensors for a few precious moments so Wanderer could safety drift in between her assailants. It had worked before... but then in that situation not much was actually know how the detenation cloud caused blindness. It was about as theoretical then as it is now. What if it was just a power outage that allowed them to survive last time?*

*In the moments of supposed blindiness, Jim did another of his jerking body moves as he activated the port and starboard vertical thrusters...

EO: *Springs to attention* Oh crap! The thrusters just died! We can't manevuer!

Helm: Yeah, I just discovered that genius...

Hewitt: *frowns* Report. *sips coffee*

Helm: Sir, it appears the delapetated thruster modules strapped to this rust bucket finally decided to crap out on us. I have absolutely no control of steering what-so-ever.

EO: Oh crap oh crap oh crap oh crap oh crap *furiously works at the engineering panel*

WO: What do we do now sir? I can't fire the main batteries when they are facing away from the enemy, should I fire now as we are drifting pass?

SO/TO/Comms: Too late. The pirate vessels just passed us.

Helm: We are so screwed. *leans back on his chair*

Hewitt: Are you so sure of that Mr Adams? *sips coffee*

*Suddenly just as the apathetic helmsman leans back one of the pirates scores a solid hit to Wanderer's side, almost directly below the main bridge structure. This causes the entire bridge to shake violently and Jim falls backwards, his head striking the ships deck rather solidly. He is knocked out cold.*

WO: And thus God did proclaim in a loud resounding voice, YES.

SO/TO/Comms: Jim!

Hewitt: *has spilled his coffee* He's fine. And the plan stands... stop being so glum everyone. You are all forgetting one important law of momentum, "Every object in a state of uniform motion tends to remain in that state of motion unless an external force is applied to it." We are still moving. Our main guns will come to bear shortly.

SO/TO/Comms: Ah! Of course!

WO: Holy crap you're right sir.

Hewitt: I'd suggest you recalculate the weapon timings before it's too late.

WO: Y-Yes, yes sir. Right away.

*And so with the large heavy cruiser continuing her lazy cartwheel through space there was still hope yet of delivering the dual knockout punch to the pirates. Both Abby and Jack worked furiously re-running the numbers on the changing trajectories until it got so complicated that Jack eventually gave up and resolved himself to instinct. His first insight got him firing off a suggestion to the captain for power from some unused systems, a wish that was granted. His second involved the pirates possible movements. The pirates could be coming around to make another attack run but then again with weapons equiped with a fancy 360 degree setup, that was not a certainly. He let Abby keep track of their movement. Jack concentrated heavily on his panels numerous target readouts and viewscreens. He was determined not to turn this the "Solaris Manevuer" into a "Valmorrian Stuff Up" despite the one hundred and one things that could go wrong. All that was needed was luck, good luck.*

"Heh."

*With the enemies engines still the main target, Jack fired off the full missile salvo as Wanderer drew horizontal. Though the 100+ missile strong salvo was impressive, Wanderer's real teeth were revealed as the front top deck became visible once again. Becoming animated, the two main triple mounted turrets swiveled around deceptively quickly taking aim along with the four sided mounted laser cannons. Weapons was certainly one area where the captain hadn't skimped on in recent times. With a hope and a prayer Jack began the power up cycle, pumping in as much excess power as he could. The turret gunports began to glow brighter and brighter as the turrets tracked their targets flawlessly. By now the missile groups had almost reached their target. Then with a mighty shunt the deck guns were let loose.*

*It wasn't a matter of aim.*

*It wasn't a matter of power.*

*It was a matter of timing - the weapons needed to hit at exactly the same time if there was to be any chance of complete engine failure for the enemy.*

Summary
General action
- Abby takes on TO duties in absence of Tim (who is hiding out in an escape pod THE COWARD *shakes fist*)
- EO tries to bring thrusters back online
- The original plan is modified to take the new "variables" into account. The ship is allowed to continue it's cartwheel so that the main guns can still be brought to bare. (see below for weapons details)
- excess power is diverted into weapons (see below for power details)

Weapons
- Two missile salvos are fired at the same time, each containing 24 Gravatic missiles and 40 EMP missiles
- This is followed by two more salvos from the main guns each consisting of 2 Photon Cannons, 2 Light Blasters and 1 Light Ion Cannon.

The targets are the engine sections of each enemy ship. Missiles are fired first, then energy weapons are fired so that all weapons impact at the same time. The desired effect is total engine failure on both enemy ships.

Power
- Power is taken from the following systems
Engines
AMD and AFD
Particle Cannon (provided there was power there to begin with)

- This power is put into the ships other energy weapons for increased power

SO – “And their shields are down a bit too… Finally...”

Comms – “Fresh Police Cruiser accepts our lead, sir.”

EO – “Have them bloody take the punching for the moment, my teams need some screws and bolts that are not shaking in order to fasten them again!”

No. 1 – “They will hold quiet soon, they will. Just hang in there for now.”

“So we could use the old style Borg Virus, eh?”

SO – “Aye.”

”Those high tech advanced mother****ers won’t know what hit them.”

SO – “Hopefully. Lt. Commander Kama’s ship appears to be still unable to help, sir, they had to shut down or something to power up the station.”

No. 1 – “But we need them to link to scramble the Chrono Borg vessel...”

SO – “Aye.”

EO – “Fine, we’ll hang on, just get someone elses behind to take all the burning!”

“Will do. Comms, signal the our new arrival and have them join in on our little formation. They’ll take the lead, apologise for that, would you?”

EO – “Thanks sir.”

“Don’t thank me. Redirect all power from our Warp Drives to the shields and boost them as much as you can and reinforce our structural intregity. The current plan might include being pounded on again. Shields, structural intregity, life support, our drives. If this plan works, we might need to fly close to them to dock or board them with a little space hop... Keep us floating.”

EO – “Aye aye.”

Comms – “Sending signal.”

Helm – “And dropping back.”

WO – “Maintaining weapons lock, want to fire some more?”

“Sure do.”

No. 1 – “Shouldn’t give away about our plan too much.”

”Right you are.”

WO – background chatter - “Waiting for new arrival to lead formation... Comms, inform our wingmen to target their forward shields.”

Comms – background chatter – “’kay.”

No. 1 – “If we all have to be linked, we’ll have to wait for Lt. Commander Kama’s vessel to power up again.”

”His station is already powered up, isn’t it?”

SO – “Appears to be so.”

No. 1 – “It sports quite some weapons too.”

”Sure looks like it. Comms, hail the space station, or where-ever that scientist is..”

Comms – “Channel open.”

“*clears throat* Goodmorning lads. Just listen and do, ‘kay? Seems you lot have power and weapons, no? Be kind enough to open up on the Chrono Borg vessel, would you, forward shield section if you can? And my SO came up with an idea to use the old school Borg Virus against them to scramble their systems. We’ll need your ship to be online again and link with the rest of us to send it though. We’ll most likely be floating in the water for some time, but if it works, we should be able to easily capture or destroy that vessel. I’ll have my marines prep themselves. Let me know when you’re ready to link up. And don’t worry, we’ll take most of the punches... Just open up on them in case the virus doesn’t work and we’ll have to do this the old fashioned way.”

Comms – reacting to a wave from Fluffie – “Channel closed.”

No. 1 – “Quite the speech.”

“Aye. Should’ve done politics instead of... captaining, don’t you think?”

No. 1 – “Probably. I’d be a good butler.”

“Right then... MC, you and the boys still here?”

MC – “Are we going… hunting… sir?”

“We are. Ready both companies, it seems these Insectid are a large prey… Heaviest armaments and full packing. This won’t be a tea party.”

MC – “Sir! Will prep the boys.”

“And…”

MC – “Yeah?”

“And ready Winona and my Overwatch Standard Issue, if you will.” *

MC – grinning through the comm-link – “Sir? You sure? Your leg is broken, isn’t it?”

“It is. For now. Won’t be for long. If the doc don’t give me painkillers, get some of those… old… stimulants ready.”

MC – “Sir.”

Fluffie pushes a button in his chair, allowing him to speak ship-wide.

“Medics to the bridge please, immediately.”

No. 1 – “There anything I can say to stop you from going?”

“Not really.”

No. 1 – grins – “Want me to keep your seat warm then, sir?”

Fluffie shakes his head and raises his shoulders innocently while he grins back.

“Last time you did that I had to let it cool down before I could sit down myself...”

No. 1 – sulks playfully –

“But alright. You know the plan...”

No. 1 – “Great minds think alike, do they not? And if one of the two is greater, the other’ll just... improvise.”

Some medics arrive on the bridge, hurrying straight to the Captain’s Chair. Fluffie orders them to put him on a stretcher and carry him to the main airlock, where the rest of the Marines are gathering. As he is being carried away, he quickly barks his last orders. He barks them, for moving is a bit more... uncomfortable than he expected.

“Bridge is yours Warren. I’ll be standing by along with the Marines. As soon as you can dock once the virus knocks their systems and hopefully shields down, do it.”

No. 1 – “Damn right. If not, we’ll do it the old way.”

”Good.”

Fluffie gets carried away on his stretcher. As soon as he arrives down near the airlock where the troops are gathering and arming themselves, the medics give him some painkillers and quickly begin patching up his leg...

Back on the bridge, Warren, the No. 1, heads over to the Captain’s Chair and sits down in it.

Warren – “Lets keep busy. Comms, inform the Police Cruisers of the plan and have them standby to link with us.”

Comms – “Aye sir.”



summary
Fluffie meets with Marines who give him his weapons and gear, while some medics quickly fix his broken leg. (“Stimulants” and loads of painkillers are on standby.)They prepare for boarding.

Fresh Police Cruiser takes up lead position in the formation, The Outsider drops back to get some repairs done. (This means that the two Police Cruisers and the Heavy Cruiser fly in such a formation that the Police Cruisers are covering the Heavy Cruiser.)
The three ship formation begins a new attack run on the Chrono Borg vessel, focussing their weapons fire on the forward section of the hostile vessel.

Both Police Cruisers are informed of the “Virus Plan” and told to stand by to link.
Kama is informed of this plan. Kama is also told to fire on the Chrono Borg.
The Outsider readies itself to link up.

EO focusses repairs on Shields, Structural Intregity, Life Support and Drives.
EO is to redirect all power from the Warp Drives (which were linked to the Reflex Drives before) to the shields, boosting them.
