Trainers.
Does anyone know where I could buy some good trainers relatively cheaply? I just went in schuh today, and they were selling them for nearly seventy pounds! Outrageous.

I have hardly worn any trainers in my life up to this point.
I don't intend to start wearing them all day, that kind of nonsense.

I do want some reasonably good ones, though.
It is the age-old problem of low price, high quality.

I think most trainers >£25 have the same basic quality; they are hardly produced with the aristocracy in mind.

Re: Trainers.
go to TK maxx, its across the road from schuh anyway, you can get some good trainers there for cheap usually (for anyone who wants to dispute this, i got a pair of acupuncture trainers from there for £20 when the rrp was about £100 \o/)
alternativly, there is a shop just opened up in the metro centre which sells cheap shoes, although i cant remember the damn name :/

Surely you can just go to JJB and get a pair for ~£30 unless you are looking for non sports make ones.

Re: Trainers.
I'm not exactly stylish but i buy my trainers for the gym from JJB, they always have a big selection ranging from £20 to some ridiculous amount that i'ld never consider paying.

Re: Trainers.
Heh. Sadly all their trainers fall apart, their staff are apalling, their stores are cramped sweat-shops and their customers are marginally worse than the chavs that inhabit JJB. The lower chav. Eeeek.

as someone who knows what kind of clothing you wear, and buys similar trainers to what (i assume) you will want, follow my advice
you wont get what you are looking for in JJB
you might in allsports, depends if they have a sale on or not

A trainer is a sports shoe, although it is favoured by the British underclasses as a general purpose piece of footwear. I believe the nearest equivalent you colonial types may have is called a 'sneeker.'

Re: Trainers.
I have only worn trainers during sportive activities, BEING CONVINCED THAT IS WHAT THEY ARE SUPPOSEDLY USED FOR.
I once saw a guy in a two-piece with black trainers. Two days later Bush was elected president for the first time. Go figure.

Re: Trainers.
are you looking for comfortable recreational footwear or are you taking up some sort of sporting activity
i half read the thread but could find no mention of the intended purpose
doesnt sound like you are about to start marathon training but should you be i would advice the spending of £70 so you dont bugger up your feet/ankles/knees

Re: Trainers.
madi, he ain't taking up any sports, so a good pair of DC's or converse etc will be what he is looking for
(also, my last pair of running shoes only cost £40, and were fantastic, putting pair to the myth that you have to sell a kidney to be able to afford comfortable shoes that will protect your joints)

Re: Trainers.
Okay, so I eventually got some from JJB. I went into TK Maxx, but they only had pretty awful ones, with a few that I liked, but were not in my size. (They seemed to only stock up to 10 1/2.)
TK Maxx is not "across the road" from Schuh. It is across the road, round the corner, in a mall, and then down a flight of stairs.

just to let everyone know here, MM is a 6'6" tall goth with long black hair and a faintly menacing aura, he ain't going to look good in a pair of addidas, even black adiddas, he needs to get something slightly alternative otherwise he will just look silly
