Warriors - Knights and Castles Setup
ok, this is my idea.
You one of X amount of Knights (About 4-10)
Fighting against a heavly defended castle, with 1000 archers and 10,000 men with some siege weapons.
The odds are so heavy against you that even time is against you, reinforcements are coming to the castle to defend it.
You command the army, you may win this battle or lose.
sign up and/or suggest things.

count me in.
but i'd give the knights some backup of some sort. or allow some form of l33t super-maging skillz jiggery-pokery. or maybe a man on the inside. or something. 4 vs 11000+reinforcements does not a balanced ...something... make

Ok, i'll make this bit clear
You are one of X knights
You haave 1000 archers, 10,000 men and some siege weaponry.
You are sieging a castle which has heavy walls, heavy wooden doors wih many defenses.
The castle has an unknown amount of men.
Each knight has his own suit of specialised armour
(A suit can be light, but fast, or a heavily armoured and slow.
Heavy suits are also allowed spikes)
Phang: No magic here, but you can be a Priest. giving yourself and people you bless the strength of God. (More fevourous attacks, stronger, but more prone to charge, due to feelings of invulnerablity)

Name: Tahlki, the Dragon Lord.
Age: Old
Appearace: Bharuk stands at an amazing 7' 6" tall. He wears a suit of specially made full plate armour, but unlike normal armour, this is white, with gold trims, and extremly light. Bharuk's helm is also white, with only his mouth which isn't covered. There is one eye slight, which is shaped like a flat v. The 'face' part of his helm is gold plated. On the forehead area of his head is the head of a dragon, its mouth open and from either side of the helm are dragon wings, spread as if the dragon was diving.
Weapons: A big scimtar, bonewhite, with a black handle. The two 'gaurd' bits on the handle and the end of the handle each have a large diamond forged into them.
A large white longbow, with lots of arrows.
Multiple Daggers, both large and small hidden.
A nice big white shield, with gold trimming and a gold embalem of a striking dragon on it.
Is it alright if I ride into battle on meh pet dragon ?

Hint: With reinforcements on the way, i'd try to cause aslittle damage as possible, so you can defend against them from within the castle

May I advise that we go on foot for the purpose of assaulting castles? Horseback isn't really an advantage in such situations...

Hewitt: Teh Armourer smiles and says
"We have several suits of armour, we have light armour which is fast and maneverable or Very heavy armour which offers the best protection, but also the least manuverability."
--
hmm, if you've each got an army, then the castle will fall very quickly...
how about you are commanders of the 11,000 strong force, only one force of 11,000 between you
--
Zappa:
Teh Armourer says "In a suit like that, your not gonna be able to move, let alone wield a sword, and dont you try nothing, i maybe an armourer, but i can defend myself :P"
--
Siege weapons that the army has access to:
One large trebuchet
Two Siege Tower
Four Catapults.
Four siege Rams with protective roofs.
Maybe some more, if you could describe what some are

I've got dibs on the siege equipment.
Miners: As the name says, people who have been taken from various mines to be used to dig under the castle walls.
Ballista: A giant crossbow on wheels basically. Fires log-sized bolts (Well at least that's how big mine are going to be ).
Tar: Flammable liquid. Used with archers and siege weapons to create burning projectiles.
Bricole: Man-powered (traction), balance type, stone-throwing machine (Pierriere). The bricole could fire 3 to 4 shots per minute. Projectiles weighing 5 to 10 Kg could be thrown a distance of 50 meters.
http://www.xenophongroup.com/montjoie/bricole.jpg
Couillard or Biffa: Counterweight (gravity-powered) balance engine with two hutches for the weights. The two smaller hutches permited easier transport and assembly. Also useful for flinging prisoners back over the castle walls.
http://www.xenophongroup.com/montjoie/treb-man.jpg
http://www.xenophongroup.com/montjoie/scene.jpg
Mangonel: Range and power were enhanced by increasing the weight at the butt end of the rotating arm. This was accomplished by filling large continers, or hutches, with dirt or stones (some reports of using lead). Initially these hutches were fixed in position in line with the axis of the arm. The added weight required design and construction of sturdy trestle frames. The massive weights replaced the need for rope-pullers, but demanded mechanical mechanisms for lowering the the throwing end of the arm to allow loading its sling. One such mechanism was the 'squirrel-cage' device shown here. It was used for many heavy-lifting tasks in the Middle Ages.
The fixed-hutch engine lurched when fired. This was dangerous to the nearby operating crews and was destructive to the engine, itself. Medieval military engineers experimented with suspended, swinging hutches that minimized the reactive jolts. The stability also allowed sustained firing upon the same target.
http://www.xenophongroup.com/montjoie/mar2701s.jpg
Trebuchet: The counterweight trebuchet (trébuchet contrepoids), balance type, throwing machine with suspended swinging hutch, was the most powerful of the medieval war machines.
http://www.xenophongroup.com/montjoie/mar1509s.jpg

you seem to misunderstand the armour... it's simple fullplate metal, like most knights, with skulls engraved into it on the shoulders, the knees and the elbows, making it look evil, and black in colour. The gloves are in the form of dragon heads, with claws in the form of spikes on them. a few human skulls hang from a belt, and a few spikes cover the back and torso and arms. its your common heavy armour, only black in colour, and decorated to make it look evil

turtleroof: a portable roof which miners use to get close to the wall without dying
springeal: basicly a large vertical stick with an arrow on it, and another large stick that is bended by a serie of 3 wheels, and when released, slaps the arrow forward at great speed
throwing arm = mangonel

*Me gives ya your armour.
You'll have very little manuverability, but be able to stand up to most blows.
Another thing, those weapons will weigh you down even more, how about you get rid of one or two?

hmmrz, a small crossbow weighs about 2 kg, a scythe weighs a maximum of 5 kg, if it's a really big one, and a broadsword is heavy, but hardly as heavy as that longsword of Hewitt's. and I don't even carry a shield... besides, all weapons are carried by the horsey can you tell me what makes the armour so exeptionaly heavy first?

yeah, I know, the heavy armour, but you seem to be taking those effects over the top, don't you? I mean in the dark ages, knights could run around (on horseback) in such heavy fullplate armour, and swing longswords, which were a lot heavier, and since I'm a knight, I'll likely be on horseback. Walking shouldn't be necesairy, the enemy, if I happen to have to fight man to man, on the ground, will surely come to me. They used to carry around a lot more of an arsenal, and they even had a squire, carrying around more of their weapons
the effect you described at first was slow, not immobilised, which is what you seem to be making of it now, that, or we're not on the same wavelenght, and both seem to read an exagerated version of what the other types

'Very little manuverability' does not mean 'virtually paralysised from the neck down' Zappa. What it means is compared to the manuverability of some one who fights nude, you're manuverability is very little.
So in other words in the armour you have chosen you probably won't be able to make lightning quick ripostes or sneak attacks but you should still be able to raise your sword over your head in order to smite your enemies in two.

So in other words in the armour you have chosen you probably won't be able to make lightning quick ripostes or sneak attacks but you should still be able to raise your sword over your head in order to smite your enemies in two.

Name: Sir No of Dachington
Age: 36
Appearance: Tall, broad shouldered and well-built with a grizzled look to his features.
Skills: Veteran combatant, mounted combat, dismounted combat, some vague concept of tactics.
Armour: Simple, heavy design without the garnish of carvings or such that could well serve as a point for an enemy's lance point to catch. Plates over mail, helmet, tunic that covers the torso of the armour, on which is his coat of arms.
Weaponry: Kite shield, heavy lance, knight's broadsword, halberd (naturally, they are not used nor carried at the same time). Generally speaking, he will use the halberd whilst dismounted and the other weapons whilst mounted.
Commands: 1,000 Men-At-Arms, armed with halberds (200) and kite shields + broadswords (800). Also has a personal company of 40 Knights with the same armaments as himself.

Couillard or Biffa: Counterweight (gravity-powered) balance engine with two hutches for the weights. The two smaller hutches permited easier transport and assembly. Also useful for flinging prisoners back over the castle walls.

Trebuchet: The counterweight trebuchet (trébuchet contrepoids), balance type, throwing machine with suspended swinging hutch, was the most powerful of the medieval war machines.

Damn i think you covered about everything i was going to list a fair bit of what you said here.
Though what about siege towers where archers where placed in towers that could be used to attack there opposite numbers behind the castle walls.
Or Greek fire to attack enemy troops, by using lit projectiles though i think you covered that under Tar.
Though a particularly nasty tactic was to lob the bodies of the dead over the castle walls to spread disease and pestilence.
Perhaps i could be one of your Commanders Hewitt

Heh
Yeah I just learn't 'bout the diease tactic though in this case I doubt there would be time.
*Has just improved his castle siege knowledge by downloading 'Stronghold: Crusader' \o/*
If this thread ever gets going (I doubt that some how :/) I'll also see if we can get mobile shields (large wooden shields to protect troops from archers) or if we have to face boiling oil (oil = nasty).

Name: Benedict Wolfe auf Ostfeld
Age: 53
Title: Herzog
Appearance: Face: http://www.geocities.com/perampaion/Flam.jpg*
Armour: http://lse.lps.org/images/armour.jpg (He has a full plate, naturally.)
Sword: http://www.by-the-sword.com/acatalog/images/081va.JPG
Skills: Herr Wolfe is an old veteran who has participated in more crusades than he cares to remember. His skill at arms focuses on the use of his broadsword, fighting on foot in his Maximilian armour.
Command: Herr Wolfe brings with him 50 soldiers with swords and shields. Also, I'd like him to command one of the siege towers.
