Ralph gets unsteadily to his feet, downing the last of his drink as he rises. Wiping his mouth, he shakes his head before running after you. “Whoa . . . that last one was a dozy. Hope I can still fly straight, or at least only slightly crooked!” Ralph calls after you as he charges down the hallway just a few steps behind you, trying to catch up. He gradually begins to gain on you, until he is just one or two steps behind. Unfortunately, a female WAVE Rider chose that moment to run out of a small side hallway, no doubt heading for the flight deck as well. You manage to brush past her without too much trouble, but Ralph is not quite as fast on his feet and pushes past her, sending her stumbling toward another side hallway. Unbelievably, a second WAVE Rider chooses just that moment to run out, and he crashes into the off-balance female. As the two of them rebound off of a wall (Hahaha! Gutted Hewitt!), Ralph somehow manages to catch up with you, snickering. “I don’t think I’ve ever managed that trick in the simulators before. Score one for the fly boys!”

Thankfully, the two of you manage to make it to the flight deck without further incident or crewmen popping out in front of you. You manage to get into the ****pit of your gunship without too much trouble, albeit with a bit more thump that you intended. A few minutes later, and you are launched into space, the planet Mars filling up most of your ****pit for the moment. Almost dead ahead you can see the bulk of the Apollo, but when you check your sensors for incoming, all you see is a mass of red dots! You wonder if perhaps the alcohol was splitting the hostile contacts, thus making them appear more numerous, but your confusion is cured when your squadron leader, Samuel Cruz, comms you with the rest of the squadron. “All pilots, reduce your sensor display’s range, until only the incoming from the Apollo are visible. That should get rid of most of those hostile contacts.”
You quickly obey, and are relived when you see only one set of sensor contacts remain as the Apollo’s gunships and WAVEs close.
“Here they come!” Ralph shouts over the comm as the leading squadron of gunships come into firing range.
*Crazy shakes his head again as he looks at the radar*

"Woah!"

*Crazy quickly adjusts it as ordered, and shakes his head again*

"Ah thats better. Now then. Lesse, thats the thursters, thats the.. um, whatever, and this, yeah this is what I'm looking for!"

*Crazy fliks a switch and a drinks holder pops out*

"Ok, maybe not. Damn, that drink really was strong! Ah, this is the one"

*Crazy fliks the switch marked 'Radio' over to the 'Wing' setting*

"All righty Ralphy boy. Looks like we got us a babysittin' job. Lets escort these geezers outta here. You know what to do"

"Sure thing mate. I've got your six. And damn these 0-G enviroments and strong whiskey. Don't think I'll be flying straight for a long while"

"Nor me. Nor me."

*Crazy then shakes his head again, failing to clear it, and just shrugged. At least he didn't have to worry about trying to fly straight. Crazy looked down at the radar again, and picked out a group of gunships not being engaged*

"I have our target. Follow me in."

"Roger. Why have I got two radars?"

"Bang your head against your chair. Then you'll have one"

"*THUMP*THUMP* Hey. It worked. Alright, I'm followin'"

*Crazy and Ralph then broke off from the main bulk of the gunships and charged down on the currently unengaged wing.*

"I'll take the leader, you split the other two. Have fun playing cat and mouse. I know you like it"

"Hehehehehe."

*Crazy lined up his crosshairs, shook his head, and lined up his crosshair over the target pointed on his target. Sobering up slightly from the adrenaline, Crazy narrows his eyes as he closes the distance, still accelerating. The console beeps, signaling that his weapons were in range. Crazy flicked off the safty and opened fire, his cannons bluring, and their tracers spinning through space, smashing into the majestic gunship. Seconds later, Ralph opened fire on the other two, spraying bullets and stuff at them, to get them to split*

As the alarm blares, jolting you awake, you curse the Fates for giving you such a nice dream, and then ending it just as it was getting good. ( ) Nevertheless, you haul yourself out of your bunk, hoping out to drift down to the Crew Quarters floor several bunks below. In the low gravity, you land lightly, and straighten out your shirt and pants before slipping on your uniform jacket. You then push past several other crewmen before reaching the door and racing out into the hallway. You charge down the hallway, nimbly dodging several crewmen who are a bit less eager to get to their stations than you are. You soon see the Main Hallway a few dozen meters ahead. Once in the Main Hallway, you’ll be but a short distance from the Flight Deck. Pouring on yet more speed, you enter the hallway, and – get ran into from the side! In the low gravity of the Illustrious’s corridors, the inertia of the impact is greater than the gravity, and thus instead of simply falling over, you and the idiot that slammed into you both go flying into the far wall. Being sandwiched in between the wall and your “attacker” does little for your mood, nor your body as the air is squeezed out of your lungs. Thankfully, a moment later you rebound, and give this joker the same treatment he gave you as the two of you bounce off the wall at an angle and slam down onto the floor. A moment after you land, you manage to plant one hand against the floor, and the other hand against the guy’s body before pushing yourself up to get a look at him. You open your mouth to scream some obscenities into this jerk’s face, but upon looking into the soft chocolate brown eyes, your mouth snaps shut so fast you almost bite your tongue. (I don't know whether to give Ralph a beer or to punch him in the face. )
“Ugh . . . hi Hewitt.” Claire gasps, and then holds a hand up.
“Do you, uhhhhh . . . mind getting off of me?”
It is only at this point that you notice not only are you lying on top of Claire, but that your right hand is lying on her chest.
A few minutes later, the two of you have managed to get untangled and get back onto your feet. Claire brushes down her uniform, and then explains.
“Sorry about that. Someone crashed into me from behind and send me sprawling into you. Well, I’d better get to my WAVE. See you later, Hewitt.”
Claire then runs off, leaving you to stare after her . . .
Eventually, you manage to pull yourself together, and make your way to the Flight Deck. Finally, you launch, and dead ahead of you is the Apollo. You push your WAVE to its maximum speed, and head for the Majestic Battlecruiser. In between you and your target, however, is a large mass of gunships and WAVEs launched from the Apollo. A large mass of gunships and WAVEs that you can’t make out on your sensor board, due to the sheer number of hostile contacts around you. Your comm system suddenly crackles to life, however, giving you the solution to this problem. “This is Captain Müeller. Reduce sensor display down to the immediate area around the Illustrious. It will clear your screen of all hostile contacts except those coming from the Apollo.”
You do so, and the effect is immediate as the number of red blips on your screen drops to just one clump: the clump directly ahead of you. The clump of hostiles whose leading gunship squadron just entered maximum firing range.
Hewitt: Thanks, now instead of 5,000 contacts I only have about 500.

*Throwing a dozen idea through his head Hewitt comes to rest on a propably the most dangerous one. Directing his flamethrower to point directly behind him and adjusting his boosters accordingly, Hewitt setups his WAVE in preparation for a massive speed boost that should hopefully punch himself through the incoming pack of majestic forces. However, he leaves a few boosters alone for jinking purposes - no point rushing onwards onto death. He switches his comm frequecy of that of his squadron.*

Hewitt: All pilots of the 52nd this is Draco. In about five seconds I intend to put on as much speed as possible to punch through to the Apollo. Anyone who wishes to join this assault I suggest to form up on me now before I blast my way through the majestic gauntlet. Draco out.

*Hewitt waits a full 20 seconds, using his jinking boosters to avoid incoming fire before putting his plan into use. Firing his boosters and flamethower at the same time, Hewitt powers forward towards the majestic fighter group, his chain machine gun out in front of him and firing away at anything directly in front of his speeding WAVE.*

Private Johnson (Victor's the captured one) nods. "Alright. Let's do it." He then stomps off to finish getting into his powered armor, and mobilize the rest of his men. Travis Cartwright, the doctor who would be coming with you, and the man that saved Candice's life, walks up to you. "I just checked on Candice. She's stable, but still in a light coma. She should awaken in a day or two. She was pretty banged up, however, so I doubt she'll be ready for combat anytime soon. Well, I better go get my field equipment." The doctor then walks off; leaving you alone with the memories of this place, the farm that was once your home.

An hour later, Johnson returns and nods to you. "Alright, we are ready. The men in the unloaded ambulance will lead; you and the APC will follow at a distance. Hopefully we can get at least partially into the city before we're noticed."

You nod in reply, and the two of you exit the farm house. Johnson runs over to the ambulance, while you run over to your Shogun. Quickly scaling the ladder, you run through the short list of start-up procedures, and bring the metal behemoth to life. As the ambulance starts to head down the road, you follow after it, a few meters behind the APC.
---------------------------

A few hours later, you and the convoy arrive at the city. While the ambulance pulls up to a roadblock stretched against one of the smaller roads leading into the city, you and the APC hunker down behind a hill. You watch the ensuing scene with your WAV's low-quality thermal vision, and manage to watch a blur of heat, which you assume to be a guard, approach the ambulance. The blur stands by the driver side of the ambulance for some time, and then motions to several of its companions, clearly urging them to go around and search the back of the truck.
"Ah sh*t, they're about to discover us. All units, move forward and engage! Repeat, engage!" Johnson's voice shouted over the channel, and a moment later you see several flashes of heat as Johnson pulls out his pistol and shoots the surprised guard in the face. The rebel infantry leap out the back of the ambulance and begin to fire at the startled, approaching guards, while the APC surges forward to bring its machine gun and passengers into the fight

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

LH watches the scene unfold, it seems the gaurds are about to discover the plan

LH - [i]Ah ****, I knew this would go wrong, well i will wait and see what happens[i]

Again LH activates the Shoguns sensors as full as she can to get a better reading of what is going on and she activates the comms to listen in on what and who is where.

She sees the APC move into combat.

LH hangs back

LH - I have a bad feeling about this, they must have some heavy firepower somewhere.

Again LH keeps a look out, the Infantry should be able to deal with this small problem.

Inspectre is an unknown quantity at this point
/ooc Alright, now that everyone's about to pick a fight, here's how combat works. Assuming you are focusing on just one enemy, and they're just focusing on you, you and the enemy WAVE/gunship/infantryman have a duel. Each of you take shots at each other, and the damage inflicted is based on a number of factors. Luck plays a small role, as does the general skill of the enemy pilot and you. The largest factor, however, is post quality. While I don't expect everyone to write 1000 word essays on how they shoot at the enemy **** for a single time, I would like posts of at least several lines, rather than "I shoot at the stupid Majestic ***hole again."

This round, everyone was good, although I would like to see a line or two more from you next post Flaag. However, everyone can still post 1 or 2-liners if you want, and do decently well, but for maximum effect put at least a little bit of effort in your posts. Ok, mini-rant over.

Luck, skill, post quality, and actual aiming do have an effect on where your shot lands. As the only way to kill an enemy is by reducing the ****pit or torso to 0 armor, those two spots are your target. Obviously, you should not expect to hit those two spots all of the time, regardless of post quality, aiming, etc.

This also works the same for dodging an enemy's shots. While none of you are likely to be able to dodge much at this point, you definitely can reduce an enemy's accuracy so that s/he hits you in the arm, instead of the head, for example.

Also note that you can dock with the Illustrious for repairs (up to 60% of total armor), and reloading for weapons. Just be aware that both of these will cost you requisition points ($$$), and will take you out of combat for a turn or two.

If you have any questions, PM or MSN me, or even post here. Otherwise, I think I've explained just about everything for combat. ooc/

The mouth of Mars Orbital’s launch bay suddenly flared with the exhaust of several dozen assault shuttle engines. The remainder of the WAVEs and gunships that had been hanging back near the station now jet forward, dropping into escort formation with the large mass of assault shuttles. The combined group of Majestic units moves forward, heading directly for the Ajax and its already swamped defenders.

Bridge of the Ajax

“Sir, I’ve just detected over forty assault shuttles launching from Mars Orbital, and closing on our position!” The sensor operator reported with a slight tint of hysteria in his voice.
“Forty? D*mn.” John muttered, his mind already churning with how he could defend his ship against a number of infantry that nearly doubled his own.
“Sir? This may be a bad time, but I’m picking up a distress call from the Deismos. Patching it through now.”
This is Captain Anatov Ivanov to all 11th Battlegroup ships, and to anyone else listening: we are docked with Mars Orbital and are being swarmed under by powered infantry. Repeat, we are being swarmed under by powered infantry. Our marines can’t hold them back for much longer, and Majestic forces already have control of Decks 3-6. We require immediate assistance, or I will be forced to initiate the Deismos’s self-destruct to keep her from the hands of the enemy. If anyone out there can send help, do it NOW. Ivanov out.

John sighed and shook his head. “Captain Ivanov was a loyal soldier. I will regret the loss of him and his ship, but there’s nothing that can be done. Send a message to all ships that no one is to send assistance to the Deismos. It’s a dead ship as far as everyone is to be concerned. I won’t risk depleting any ship’s complement of infantry, only to have that ship captured later due to a lack of soldiers!”

“Message sent, sir.” The communications officer reported in a subdued tone.

A minute or two passes, and then the communications officer reports again.
“Incoming transmission from the Illustrious.”

A moment later Michael Lee’s voice came through the comm channel, and he seemed rather irritated. “D*mnit John!! We have to at least try to save those people! We can’t afford to give ships away to the enemy like that!”

“I’m sorry Michael. There’s no way we can risk diverting our own marines off on a hopeless battle against a space station’s entire complement of marines. What would you have me do? I already have twice my entire ship’s complement of powered infantry attempting to board my ship with assault shuttles. I can’t spare a single man from that battle, and I doubt even that is going to be enough.”

“I’m not asking you to help them John. I’m asking you to let me help them. I can have a sizable portion of my powered armor sent over to your ship to help out, and another portion sent over to the Deismos.”

“That would deplete your own complement of infantry to dangerously low levels, which is what I want to avoid.”

“I’ll take my chances. This old gal’s a bit too old for it to make a juicy target for boarding parties, unlike the Ajax and the other newer ships.”

“Alright, alright. Do as you will, Michael. I just hope I won’t have to be at your Wake.”

“Me too, old friend. Lee out.”

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Nick ran through his start-up checklist in record time, and moved into a launch tube immediately after he was finished. Helping him accomplish this in record time was the fact that almost everyone else had already launched, leaving a number of tubes open.

Upon exiting the Illustrious into the coldness of space, Nick checked his sensors, and blinked. His sensor screen was swarming with contacts. A twisted smile flickered over Nick's face in conjunction with the morbid thought flashing through his mind.

Lots of hostiles? Good. More Majestic b*stards to kill.

Unfortunately, while Nick certainly had his pick of targets, he couldn't really separate one hostile from another. Thankfully, the chatter going back and forth between the members of the squadron Nick was moving to join provided the answer to this problem. A moment later, Nick had reduced his sensor range so that only the hostiles incoming from the Apollo were visible on the sensor screen. Seeing that he had a moment before the Majestic units entered firing range, he ignited his boosters and moved into formation behind a full squadron from Company A. Captain Müeller's squadron and company, and what would have been Nick's assignment if Müeller hadn't canned him.

Snickering to himself, Nick sent a comms query to Müeller's WAVE, and a moment later found himself connected with Müeller via a comm channel. "Good afternoon, Captain Müeller. Do you have any specific orders for me, sir?"

In the lower right corner of Nick's HUD, a small display panel projected a tiny picture of Müeller's face. That face was currently crinkled up in a mixture of surprise and disgust, as if the captain had turned over a rock and had found several unpleasant-looking insect specimens.
“Private Nick Andrews!!? What are you doing out here!? You have been grounded until further notice, pending a full psychiatric review. Return to the Illustrious immediately!”
Nick actually grinned widely, and then gave the captain the news.
“Why captain . . . apparently you haven’t been told. Major Matthews cleared me for lift-off, and for the moment at least, I am back on the flight list. Now, do you have any orders for me, or should I find some other squadron to join up with, one that would appreciate the extra help?”
Müeller actually flinched, and then opened his mouth for what would have surely been the bureaucratic equivalent of telling Nick to go to h*ll, but fortunately his retort was cut off as his sensors reported the first squadron of enemy gunships had entered maximum firing range. Switching his comms channel to all pilots within his company, Müeller barked “All units, break and attack!! I repeat, break and attack.” He then switched his comms channel back to the private one he had been sharing with Nick, only to find that Nick was beginning to move off to join the battle.
“D*mnit. <Sigh> Alright Andrews, here’s your one shot. I’ll be watching for you to blow it.” Müeller muttered to himself as he cut the channel and swung his Lancer around to enter the battle himself.

Nick blinked in surprise when he noticed that several of the leading WAVEs were missing limbs, or had already suffered battle damage. Mixed in along with these cripples, however, were fresh WAVEs that looked as if they had just been taken off the assembly line. “Of course.” Nick muttered to himself. “Those damaged ones are the ones that Majestic was able to capture along with the capital ships. They probably haven’t had time to repair all of them yet, which is why they’re in such sad shape. But since they didn’t capture whole regiments, they had to fill in the holes with brand-new WAVEs. Trying to save a few creds by using captured equipment, eh? Well let’s run up your bill a bit more, you corporate b*stards.” As the two sides both broke formation and entered into a swirling melee of small duels, Nick looked for his target. He didn’t have to look far, as his sensors immediately reported a Majestic Banshee closing on his position. Turning his WAVE to face the threat, Nick locked the Banshee into his targeting computer, and then hit the boosters, throwing himself to one side as he noticed the Majestic WAVE raising its rifle. A silvery blur streaked past his ****pit window, and Nick shivered a little as he imagined the rifle slug piercing his ****pit, instead of missing like that one did. Allowing the range to close just a bit more, Nick waited until his sights were directly over the Banshee’s chest, and then fired. The Banshee attempted to move to one side, but the rifle slug still connected, gouging away armor from along the left side of the WAVE’s torso. As the Majestic WAVE continued to approach, Nick noticed that the enemy unit was armed not only with a rifle, but an axe as well. Meaning that if the Majestic WAVE continued to approach like it was doing, it would eventually be in melee range. “Sh*t.” Nick grumbled as he hit his boosters, sending his WAVE flying backward, in an attempt to get away from the oncoming Banshee, and keep the distance open.

Zappa

You break formation as ordered by your squadron commander, and then go about choosing your target. You look for a suitable one, namely something with little in the way of close combat capabilities. You don't have to wait long, as your sensors shortly identify a captured Commonwealth Ballista crawling along near the rear of the Majestic formation. Clearly, the missile-laden WAVE was to be used for directly attacking the Illustrious, and since it was primarily an artillery WAVE, it would be poor in close combat. The WAVE also seemed to be damaged, as it was missing an arm and in several places along its left leg the armor plating was peeled away, revealing the support girders. As you close in for the attack, however, you notice that while most of the Majestic units had already broken from their formation to join the swirling melee going on all around you, several WAVEs had hung back with the Ballista. From the looks of things, this guardian trio was composed of a damaged Tornado, a mostly fresh Firebrand, and . . . a brand new Banshee. While the Ballista did not seem to be carrying much else other than its missile and rocket ranks, each of the escort WAVEs were armed with a mix of ranged and melee weapons. The quartet of WAVEs has obviously detected you, but for the moment is apparently not threatened by a melee-only WAVE. However, this does not mean they aren't interested in fighting, as the Firebrand detatches from the group and heads toward you, boosters burning at full speed.

Dunin

You receive the order to break formation and engage the enemy, and a few moments later you are swinging your heavy fighter onto a course that will take you head-on into their formation. The aging Raptor protests the sudden change in direction with a few bangs and hisses, but nothing seems to be broken . . . yet. Looking ahead of you, you can see the leading squadron of Majestic gunships breaking up and engaging several Commonwealth units. One of these leading gunships actually banks and heads for you. Your sensors identify it as a [i]Mosquito[i] light fighter. The gunships is faster and much more maneuverable than your Raptor, but it is also nowhere near as durable as your vehicle. You decide to meet the fragile gunship in a head-on pass; that was where the Raptor worked best. Still, you are surprised by how quickly the range between the two of you decreases, and the Majestic pilot fires first. The small underslung gatling gun spat out a stream of bullets, and then began to break off from its attack. At this point you return fire, sending two rockets out to streak into the Mosquito's front and left quadrants. Then you have passed the Mosquito, and begin to work your heavy fighter into a turn. The right thruster suddenly dies out with a loud sputter, and you curse. This actually works in your favor, however, as with only the left thruster working, you turn to the right twice as quickly, and a moment later have the Mosquito in your sights again. Still angry about the failure in your right thruster, however, you pound on the control panel, and a moment later the right thruster roars to life again, restoring your mobility.

Flaag

As soon as you hear the words "Break and Attack", you are off, zooming in toward the Majestic formation. Not particularly caring what you engage so long as it's a Majestic WAVE, you fire at the first one you see. This first one turns out to be a damaged (captured) Commonwealth Wolverine. Due to firing at maximum range, your shot goes a bit wide of its intended target (the chest), and instead hits the heavy WAVE's right shin. As you close in for another shot, the Wolverine's pilot turns his machine around so that it faces you, and he raises his shotgun to fire . . .

Fluffie

Nicholas's support manages to cheer you up somewhat, but you still can't get out of your mind the sight of your wife and son hanging from the attic roof like cattle. Once you reach the armory, you quickly get into your Titan suit of powered armor, and grab your sub-machine gun from its wall hanging. Turning to see how Nicholas was doing, you notice that he is still struggling to get his torso armor on. "Blasted cheap Quartermaster!!" Nicholas roared, ripped off the breastplate and throwing it to the ground. "I told him I wanted XXXL, not XXL!!!" Nicholas looked just about ready to tear the armory apart, when another giant man who seemed to match Nicholas in girth suddenly appeared. "Here, try mine." He said, tossing the heavy plate of torso armor over to Nicholas. Nicholas caught it with a grunt, and immediately tried the piece of armor on. The armor was a perfect fit, and Nicholas rumbled his thanks to this helpful newcomer. However, Nicholas then asked the inevitable question, "But what about you?" The man shrugged his beefy shoulders, and then leaned forward to whisper to Nicholas. "I have another suit in my locker. I told the Quartermaster that my first set didn't fit, so he had to give me a new one. Eventually he did, but I never returned the old suit, so I happen to have a spare." The man gave a wink, and Nicholas grinned broadly in reply. Sticking out his hand, Nicholas said, "Nicholas Volkov." The man grasped Nicholas's outstretched hand in a tight handshake, and replied, "Christopher Wayne. If you need anything, just give me a call. We rookies have to stick together." The new giant then mowed away, presumably to go get his extra suit of powered armor. Nicholas brought his suit up to full power, and then turned back to you. "Welcome comrade! Let's report to the Flight Deck, we've got some corporates to kill!!" Nicholas roared as he hefted his shotgun.
----------------

Several minutes later, you and the rest of the infantrymen enter the Flight Deck to find several shuttles warming up their engines. A lieutenant major dressed in a No Dachi suit bellows, "All infantry, fall in!!" As everyone hurries to form up into a large square block of powered armor, the man patiently waits. When the last infantryman has finally fallen in, the man snaps, "Atten-shun!!" The lieutenant major then begins to walk back and forth in front of the front rank of infantrymen, speaking as he walked.

"Good afternoon, men and women of the 52nd. As most of you know, I am Lieutenant Major Thomas Williamson, your commanding officer. I have ordered you here because the Illustrious and the 11th Battlegroup have fallen into a Majestic trap, and it is up to us to dig them out of it!! I have just received word that Mars Orbital has launched assault shuttles toward the Ajax. Now while all of those shuttles may focus on docking with the Ajax, a few of them could redirect toward the Illustrious. The Apollo might also launch assault shuttles of its own at any moment. Regardless, sooner or later a shuttle filled with Majestic troopers is going to attempt to dock and unload its deadly cargo into the Illustrious. If those Majestic troopers succeed in their mission, every man and women aboard the Illustrious will die. It is up to you to stop them, and I know you won't dare to let the crew of the Illustrious down. Now, I have received orders that in addition to defending the Illustrious, I'm supposed to split my forces by sending a small detachment of troops to help defend the Ajax, and send a small handful of shuttles towards Mars Orbital in a bid to save the CDD Deismos from capture. Those are my orders, and while I don't agree with them, I must carry them out. For this purpose I have called you here, in the hopes that some of you will volunteer for either mission. If you do not volunteer for either assignment, you will stay here and guard the Illustrious. You will not lose any standing in my eyes regardless of whether you stay here or go to help defend another ship. You have five minutes to decide. Dismissed."
The lieutenant major then moved some distance away across the Flight Deck, allowing all of the infantrymen to relax and discuss amongst themselves where they were going.
"What do you think we do, comrade?" Nicholas asked as he turned to you. "Save the Deismos, help defend the Ajax, or stay here?"

Hudre

As the leading squadron of enemy gunships scatters, breaking formation so that each pilot could pursue his own target, one of the gunships, a Nighthawk heads your way. Instinctively you raise your machine gun and squeeze off a burst, leading the target slightly as your sensors suggested. Four of your five shots hit, punching a line of ragged holes along the gunship's left side. A moment later the gunship turns directly toward you, firing off a stream of gatling gun bullets. As the bullets' impacts cause you to shutter about in your ****pit, your ears are suddenly assaulted by the warning screech of a missile lock. Sure enough, you could see the fiery tail of a missile launching from the underside of the Nighthawk, just as it began to bank away from you.

/ooc Just as some free advice, when fighting vehicles it's generally best to use a shotgun. This is because a shotgun does spread damage, meaning that ordinarily the damage would be spread out amongst the different body parts of the target. However, gunships take all of their damage in one, perhaps two quadrants. You might also want to take some evasive action/shoot the d*mn missile down, although I think you know which one will be most effective. ooc/

You break formation and then head to the right in order to wait for a target to come to you, figuring that with so many enemies, one was bound to get close. You are not disappointed, as a minute later a TF-16 Saber, part of a squadron of gunships that followed the first squadron of gunships in, comes into your sights. This one was moderately damaged already, a result of being salvaged after the first battle over Mars. This did not mean the gunship would be an easy kill, however, as it twists out of your sights a second after you open fire. You stay with the gunship , however, and manage to peg the gunship several times before being forced to activate your engines and jet after the Majestic gunship, turning a turkey shoot into a dogfight.

No Dachi

You quickly adjust your comm channels, and then send your question about formation to your company commander. A moment later you receive your reply. "This is Captain Abraham Martinez, Commander Company B." The voice on the other end sniffed, and then said, "Morataki, my orders are for all units to break and attack. We're going to mix it up with incoming from the Apollo, while Company D and E provide closer escort for the Illustrious, and stop anything that gets through you. That is all." A moment later the comm channel clicks off, and you wonder if you have somehow insulted the man, considering his rather abrupt manner. Turning back on your squadmate comm channel, you are just in time to hear someone shout, "Here they come!" as the first squadron of gunships enters firing range. The two sides quickly clash in the middle, creating a swirling melee of combating gunships and WAVEs. There is no shortage of targets, and a moment later you hear one of your squadmates curse loudly and shout, "Can someone give me a hand over here?" Pinpointing the source of the transmission, you turn towards it, and see a 52nd Tornado attempting to fight off a Banshee at melee range, while a worn-and-used Brigand takes potshots at the 52nd WAVE Rider from afar with a rifle.

PK

/ooc That is correct, the Apollo does have 120 WAVEs and 120 gunships. However, those 120 are a mix of salvaged/captured Commonwealth vehicles from the first battle, and replacements shipped in to fill the holes created in the ranks by the First Battle of Mars.

Jack Robinson is your squadron commander, and a new character to the TSW series, which is why you've never heard of him before.

ooc/

Many of the WAVE Riders within your squadron and company were already engaged in combats of their own, and thus too busy to reply. One 52nd WAVE, a Tornado, did close with you, but it was a member of Company A's first squadron. "This is Adam Wright. I've got your back, rookie." (Adam's a new veteran WAVE Rider char, who signed onto the Illustrious before the war began. ) You don't bother sending a reply, and hope the "almighty veteran" can keep up with you as you kick your boosters up to maximum burn. You charge directly through the center of the swirling melee forming fairly close to the Illustrious, and most enemies and allies alike seem to be engaged in their own fights, not paying any attention to the pair of 52nd WAVEs boosting through their midst. However, one Majestic pilot does notice you, as a brand new Viper maneuvers itself directly into your path. The Majestic pilot opens fire the instant you do, and both of your WAVE shudder under the impacts of the machine gun bullets. The Majestic pilot was obviously expecting you to dodge out of the way of the punishment, however, and not charge directly forward like you did. Thus, before the pilot can react your WAVE's right shoulder slams into the Viper's chestplate, sending it flying backward out of your way, at the expense of some armor from your right arm and the Majestic's chest. The Majestic pilot was no slouch, however, and spun himself around to track you as you pushed past him, so that you received several rounds into your WAVE's back. "I've got him!" Adam tersely comms to you, and a moment later the Viper stops firing at your fleeing back as Adam's Tornado pounces on the distracted Viper, hammering away at the larger WAVE with its own machine gun. You continue on your path, letting the two veteran WAVE Riders fight it out, but a minute later you receive another transmission from Adam, more of an exclamation over the comm system than a deliberate message. "D*mn, this guy is good! And with his heavier WAVE, I might need to call for backup after all . . ."

David91

After the sensor begins to annoy you beyond your ability to tolerate, you spit on it. Some of your saliva must have somehow gotten inside the sensor panel, as a moment later it sorts out. Your entire HUD and other displays also blink off for a moment, but thankfully come back online a moment later, which is good, as without them you would be completely helpless, locked inside a metal coffin hurtling away from all help . . .

Focusing on the information your targeting computer provides, you soon pick out a damaged Firebrand as your target. The salvaged Commonwealth WAVE was missing its right arm, and in several other places sections of the armor plating was peeled back. Still, a Firebrand was a formidable weapon, and the Majestic pilot had so far proved himself to be competent. You continue to wait, allowing the range to close a bit before you were willing to chance a shot. The wait proves to be almost too long, as the Firebrand suddenly whirls around to face you in a flash of boosters and its pilot’s raises the machine's machine gun up to point at you. You fire an instant before your opponent does, and this first strike proves invaluable as your rifle slug smashes into the Firebrand's left arm just as it began to fire. This completely threw off the pilot's aim, and only a handful of bullets zinged off your right leg armor. The pilot was recovering quickly however, boosting to the right while bringing his machine gun around to bear on you a second time.

Crazy

When you discover three Majestic gunships approaching the Illustrious virtually unchallenged, you cannot decide if you're having a hallucination caused by the drink, or if this was simply your lucky day. You quickly inform Ralph of your find, and outline your plan to him. Ralph gives you the affirmative, and the two of you dive down onto the trio of Majestic gunships. As you open fire on the leader, you suddenly realize your mistake, and the reason why no one was engaging these gunships. All three of them were brand spanking new MF – 22 Lances, Majestic's chief space superiority gunship. As space superiority gunships, the Lances were superior to your own gunship in every way except for speed. And judging by the way the trio of gunships immediately broke formation and scattered only a few moments after you and Ralph opened fire, these three gunships were also controlled by at least competent Majestic pilots.
"Uhh . . . I think I'm going to throw up." Ralph moans to you as you shove your flight stick down to follow your target and attempt to slip in behind the leader's tail. On the bright side, so far you've managed to score a hit with one of your cannon shots, the heavy slug punching a hole in the nose of your target's gunship. On the bad side, you are attempting to dogfight with a space superiority fighter, and your target's wingman just slipped in behind you with a blaze of gatling gun shots.

Hewitt

While no one directly answers your hail, you do see several other groups of 52nd WAVEs attempting to hack their way through the swirling melee and out to the other side. One such group seems to have run afoul of a Majestic Viper, although by watching through your sensors, you are able to see one of the 52nd WAVEs charge directly into it, sending the Majestic vehicle spiraling away out of control for a moment. Rather than continue to watch this group, however, you finalize your plan to boost as much of the way through the battle as you can. Positioning your flamethrower so that its nozzle pointed directly behind you, you take a deep breath and then punch it. The sudden acceleration pushes you back in your seat a little, but you can immediately see that it’s your boosters doing most of the work, not your flamethrower. Regardless, you make it almost three-fourths of the way through the swirling masses of dueling gunships and WAVEs before your boosters quit on you. Almost completely drained, it would be several minutes at least before they were somewhat recharged again. Worse still, now that you had slowed considerably, a salvaged Majestic TX - 72 Shrike was closing in on you from behind. Considering how quickly gunships moved, it was highly unlikely that your flamethrower would do any good against it. You would have to rely on your machine gun to do most of the talking for you.

LH

You sit back and watch the show as the rebel infantry continue to pour out of the ambulance, most with only their guns, the powered armor being too bulky for everyone to wear it within the ambulance. Thankfully, the road block was built only to stop the occasional civilian attempting to flee into the countryside; it was not built to stop someone from entering the city, nor was it built to withstand a determined attack by actual soldiers. Only seconds after Pvt. Johnson had killed the first guard, he popped open the ambulance driver's side door, and rolled out onto the pavement of the road. Coming up on one knee, Johnson fires a three round burst into the chest of a second Majestic soldier, this one unarmored. The three rounds punch through the man's chest like tissue paper, and you watch as he jerks in mid-air as each round pierces his flesh, and then collapses onto the ground like a marionette with cut strings. The remaining guards are cut down either by the rebels leaping out from the ambulance, or by the APC's machine gun turret. One of the rebel soldiers does get hit, however, taking a rifle round high in the shoulder that puts him down on the pavement, hard. Over the group's comm channel you can hear Johnson cursing. "Great, now we have to take Charlie back to the farmhouse, since most of the medical supplies were taken out of the ambulance to make room. Doc, is there any chance you can patch him up enough that he'll be alright until we finish the mission?"
A moment later you hear Dr. Cartwright's voice over the comm channel. "Not a chance. I can bandage the wound, but they were using anti-personnel rounds, d*mnit. There's probably shrapnel all through that wound, and if I don't take proper care of that and the mess that's left of Charlie's shoulder, he probably won't have use of that arm for quite awhile, possibly the rest of his life."
"<Sigh> Alright doc, you win. We'll let you and a couple other boys head back to base in the ambulance, and the rest of us with continue either on foot or in the APC. The surprise with the ambulance is already gone, but at least it got us through one checkpoint."
Five minutes later the ambulance was heading back toward you, Dr. Cartwright, the wounded Charlie, and two other infantrymen within it. The ambulance swerves around your WAV's armored feet, and then continues back down the road to the farmstead. You turn to watch them go, but a moment later your comm channel crackles to life again.
"Alright, everyone suited up proper now? Good. Let's move out, double time!!" At those orders from Johnson, the group continues on its way, deeper into the city . . .

No Dachi is infamous around these parts
Wondering what on Earth he could have said or implied in order to offend Captain Martinez, if indeed he had been offended, No Dachi focuses himself on the 52nd Tornado. Jabbing a finger down on its contact on his sensor screen, openning a channel to the stricken WAVE pilot, No Dachi gives the man a heads-up.

"This is Morotaki, I'm coming in from above. I'll take care of the Brigand."

This done, he gunned his WAVE's thrusters again and sent the mech gliding through the void of space toward the Brigand. Sneaking coward, No Dachi thought, watching the Brigand level off another Rifle shot at the Tornado. No Dachi, now within range, brings his own Rifle to bear on the enemy WAVE. Taking careful aim with his manual targetting, he unleashes a shot aimed at the WAVE's head as he comes in fast from vertically above the enemy mech. Pushing his thrusters ahead to the maximum, he hefts the DD12 Claymore in his Shogun MkII's left hand before bringing it across in a powerful slash, carrying on through rather than stopping. Reloading the Rifle, he spins his WAVE onto its back, continueing downward, before firing off another shot at the Brigand, wherever it is, and burning upward toward it again. With his two surprise shots carried out, No Dachi planned to engage it at close range where its own Rifle wasn't going to be much good...

Fluffie grins and pulls out the clip of his SMG. Checking that its filled with bullets, all the way to the top, he slams it backs into his weapon, locking and loading it. Holding the weapon in one hand, he grabs Nicholai's arms and drags him along as he walks forward, heading towards the Lieutenant Major. Shrugging for a second, he takes a short breath and starts speaking, loud enough for both the Lt. Major and most of the other infantry to hear.

"Hey, Williamson! Where's the shuttle to the Deismos? Nicholas and I'll kick those Majestics out. Unless someone wants to come. Anyway, we need hurrying, where's the ride... SIR!"

Silencing Nicholas before he could object by quickly moving his hand from the Russian Bear's arm to his mouth and holding it in front of it, Fluffie looks innocently at Williamson and awaits the reply..

ooc// btw, what systems are there on cap ships that you can attack in a WAVE, and are there any likely entry points? Also, I'm not sure whether you took into account that I have two SMGs or not. If you did, sorry. //ooc

"Damn, and it was all going so well."

*PK spun the WAVE to face back the way it came, but did not activate the thrusters, allowing it to still fly towards the Apollo, backwards. He took careful aim before firing, for it was a difficult shot, but eventually the reticule lit up, and he squeezed the trigger, letting rip with both SMGs at the enemy Viper.*

"Hope that's enough to help you out. Finish him!"

Hudre curses as he hears the screech of a lock-on, and immediatly kills his forward boosters, and puts his back boosters on full. The resulting shudder would've given anyone whiplash if they weren't strapped in as hard as Hudre was, and sent his WAVE flying backwards.

Hudre looked at the missile coming towards hjim, and figured out some evasive maneuvers. Hudre cut his back boosters to about 50%, and waited as the missile came closer and closer to him.

100 feet....80 feet.....60 feet.....40 feet

As the distance metre read 40 feet, Hudre pulled his controls backwards, sending his WAVE down. Once he was angled to go straight down, Hudre fired his boosters up to full, sending him down quickly. Hudre then cut his back boosters and twisted his WAVE so that it was andgled to go left. He ignited his boosters to full again, his maneuvers making his WAVE to do sharp, fast turns.

Checking his computer, Hudre found the gunship who had fired this missile, and angled his WAVE to catch it. AS he got closer and closer, Hudre fired his machine gun and shotgun at the WAVE, his targetting computer telling him where to.

As you close in for another shot, the Wolverine's pilot turns his machine around so that it faces you, and he raises his shotgun to fire . . .

* Triolus tried to manouver his WAVE around the side of the Wolverine to dodge the incoming shot, he fired at the upper torso of the WAVE then doged to the side again.

"One....Twoooooo....not yeeet......THREE!"

*On one he is within range of the ship. On two, he is dangerously close. On three, he pulls a sharp bank to the right, as hard as the ship can go. He looks to see whether or not the two ships collided as we turns back around, fingers on the trigger.....*

Meade has little to no time to think about the advantage given to him by the violent turning of the ship. All of a sudden, the enemy ship is within his line of fire and before he can rightly think he has fired off a rocket. It comes as little surprise that the projectile misses its intended target by far, concidering the chaotic situation, and Meade begins to wonder if perhaps he should pray to any greater power that might listen, but then the failing thrustor decides to come back into play.
The whole craft yanks and Meade's head is violently shaken. As his eyes refocus, he realises that the Raptor is on a steady course straight ahead, where the Mosquito is right inside his crosshair. He doesn't wait to ponder the enormous look he's just experienced, but simply presses the fire button and sends out another rocket at his enemy, just as Meade's ship comes into firing position of the Mosquito.
The enemy might have time to react before the rocket reaches him, but Meade decides to turn rather than face a hail of bullets against his canopy.

Zappa, seeing the target, and the annoying firebrand wave race towards him, readies himself, and approaches the wave at a high speed himself. Ready to manouvre out of the way in a matter of seconds, readies his claymores, and, dodging the enemy's blasts, aims to cut off the WAVE's head with the first claymore, and damage the torso with the second, while speeding past it and towards the trio that would be left, hoping to eighter have destroyed the firebrand, or at least disabled it enough to keep it from racing back and helping the others. While approaching, Zappa tries scanning the adversairies and find out what weapons they have

Cursing my luck about not having my ship ready in time, i have never been late for a battle, and now some how with massive inbound Majestic forces i have to perform a hazardous launch.

Thinking in my head, of what happened all those years ago in such an exercise in a sim, thinking that glad it was only a sim, otherwise the results would have been particularly terminal none theless.

Still the lessons learned from that day were valuable ones, though i would have never thought that i would be performing them for real.

Plugging into the comms unit, Sir i am ready for deployment scanners showing lots of enemies, tag me onto any nearby formation.

Good. Let's move out, double time!!" At those orders from Johnson, the group continues on its way, deeper into the city . . .

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

LH - Bollox

Jenn gets on the intercom and speaks to the Ambulance good luck guys

LH looks at the men moving deeper into the city. And begins to move the WAVE after them.

She remains at the rear and uses her sensors to maximum effect. LH goes thru a quick run down and then activates the weapons systems.

All is ready.

LH - to the pvt - Where is this so called Prison then?

LH punches up the street map to get teh best route to it as the Pvt lets her know where it is.

"Holy Macarony Batman! I really must be drunk"

*Crazy jammed his gunship down and right, spinning as he avoided the gunfire from the majestic gunship behind him. The tracers from the mini-gun's rounds lit up his gunship as he continued charging on after his target and avoiding fire at the same time*

"All right Ralph. These guys have a lilll advantage over us. Lets try and get them nearer to the Illustruious. Thier guns can help a weee lill bit"

*Crazy spun his gunship again, this time coming up and under his target. As he leveled out, he lined up his sights on the target pointed and opened fire. His cannons blared again as he watched his shots streak through space and into the Majestic gunship, before suddenly pulling down and heading towards the big battlecruiser, with the gunship's mate right behind him*

You would have to rely on your machine gun to do most of the talking for you.
ooc: Quick Physics lesson - Slowing down would require acceleration in the opposite direction of travel. Since there is none, my WAVE does not slow down, it just stops accelerating.

*Having built up as much momentum as possible, Hewitt quickly diverts three quarters of the power from his main engines into recharging his boosters - he would need them to slow down later when it came to landing on the hull of the Apollo or failing that, prevent himself from crashing into the surface of Mars (). Now that his speed was constant, it would be only a matter of time before the more swifter enemy gunships around him were able to match his speed and start taking swipes at him. Sure enough Hewitt notices the sensor contact on his radar screen indicate that something is closing in from behind a 'TX - 72 Shrike' not that this information really helped - as an civilian air controller the only craft Hewitt has ever worked with was usually big, fat and sluggish.
Moving into action, Hewitt brought his flamethrower back into it's standby position and manuvered his WAVE through space with the numerous direction exhausts so that the light frame of his Heron is facing the following Majestic fighter. With smooth control, Hewitt brings up the WAVE's machine gun into a firing position. The whole action takes about a split second, Hewitt just hitting the reverse thrust in time to line up with the Shrike and fire, trying his best to aim for the ****pit that is still a fair distance away.*

Bound to hit something, no air friction to slow bullets down in space...

*Hewitt continues to fire for as long as he can, adjusting the boosters on his WAVE's legs and torso accordingly to get ready to avoid the counterfire that is sure to come soon. Although depleted, the time it takes for the Shrike to obtain a firing lock should be enough for a brief burst that would send his WAVE spiraling out of the way.*

Not to mention leaving me pretty dizzy.

Inspectre is an unknown quantity at this point
/ooc I’ve decided that there needs to be some sort of modification of the current rules, to balance out the temptation for everyone to load their WAVEs down with guns, guns, guns. All RPers may fire their weapon once during each “turn”, which is pretty much what the unspoken rules already pretty much are. However, the modification I’ve decided on affects melee combat. Melee weapons will have no limit on how many times they can be used in a turn. This is an attempt to make melee weapons more attractive, more effective, and also more realistic as combo attacks are now allowed. However, be reasonable about how many attacks you do with your melee weapons, if you have them. I will probably not accept more than three or so attacks per round. Obviously gunships will not be affected at all by this change. Let me know your opinions on this, if you so wish. Ooc/

After seeing that the Banshee was carrying an axe, Nick ignited his reverse boosters in an attempt to keep his distance. As his Shogun Mk II began to travel backward, the Banshee fired its rifle again, hitting Nick directly in the center of the chest. The impact threw Nick about in his ****pit a bit, and he cursed as he realized that the Banshee had engaged its own boosters and was closing rapidly. Deciding that he had only one chance, Nick waited for the Banshee to continue closing, and then when it had entered melee range, Nick engaged all of his forward boosters, including his auxiliary one. The result was that Nick rocketed past the Banshee, moving too fast for the Majestic pilot to react and leaving him only able to hit empty air. After he had boosted past the Banshee, Nick cut the power to his forward boosters and spun his WAVE around to face the Banshee again. He let his reticule drift down to the Banshee’s back, and then fired a rifle shot right into it.

No Dachi
/ooc Note that in a way I’ve created an assumption for your character that you did not make. The assumption, however, was one that could, and likely would be, made by anyone, so just go with it. ooc/
You decide to help the outnumbered Commonwealth pilot, and move towards the Brigand that was continuing to snipe at the 52nd Tornado. As you maneuver your WAVE into a position roughly “above” the Majestic Brigand, you send a message to the Tornado’s pilot, telling him that help is on the way. You receive no response from the Tornado, and you quickly conclude the reason for this is either a) the pilot did not receive or hear your message over the din of battle, or b) the pilot is simply too busy with the Majestic Banshee to respond. Finally into position, you dive down towards the Majestic Brigand, taking careful visual aim before you squeeze off your first rifle shot. The shot was within the rifle’s medium range of fire, but it was still a difficult shot while on the move and with no computerized assistance. Still, the rifle slug burrows into the Brigand’s left shoulder, missing the ****pit by only a meter and throwing the Brigand’s latest shot off course. You continue your approach, planning on closing to melee range and slashing the Brigand before opening the range again for another rifle shot. The Brigand begins to rotate to face you, but its pilot is too slow as you enter melee range and slash at the Majestic WAVE. You continue through with your slash, using your boosters to push yourself forward instead of stopping and pulling your blade back for another swing. Even you are surprised by the outcome of your second attack, as the Brigand’s left arm goes spinning away! Already weakened and damaged by the previous battle, and with little repair work done, the Brigand’s left arm had been left attached to the torso by only the underlying framework girders. Your sword blow had slashed through those girders, shearing the damaged left arm completely away from the Brigand’s body. As you boost past the Majestic Brigand, you spin your Shogun Mk II around to fire your rifle again, but this time it is you who are pre-empted as the Brigand fires its rifle directly into your WAVE’s chest at nearly point-blank range. The impact jars you about in your ****pit, but thankfully does little else. Before you are able to return fire, you receive a communication from the 52nd Tornado that you are assisting. You are a bit surprised, however, when the sound of a female voice comes over the comm channel. Of course, you knew that there were female WAVE Riders within the 52nd, but as a large majority were male you felt it had been a safe assumption to think of the Tornado’s pilot as such. Apparently, you were wrong. “This is Rachael Winter. Thanks for assistance, although (ugh), I don’t really . . . need it.”
Battle Report

/ooc Just as something to keep in mind for the future, Lieutenant Major Williamson is extremely firm on following “the book”. While this might eventually change, at the moment he very firmly believes on there being a time and place for everything, and a specific method for doing those things. ooc/

Having made your decision, you double check your weapon, and then grab Nicholas’s arm in order to drag him along with you. The mountain of muscle doesn’t move at first, but then he relents and allows you to drag him along behind you. The two of you make your way over to the Lieutenant Major, and you give him your answer with a loud shout.
You look back to warn Nicholas to keep his mouth shut and not object, but scarcely have you risen your hand to cover his mouth than you notice that Nicholas is grinning widely from ear to ear. Apparently he is quite pleased with your choice to attempt to take on a entire space station’s complement of powered armor.

A moment later the lieutenant major turns to look at you. He looks as if he has swallowed something distasteful, but quickly replies to your question in an even tone.

“While such displays of enthusiasm are commendable, I would prefer it if you saved your energy for the actual battle. Nevertheless, you will be boarding that assault shuttle, Assault Shuttle #1214, which will be the first shuttle to be loaded by those bound for the Deismos.”

Williamson then nods his dismissal to you, and turns back to discussion with his second-in-command. The rest of the powered infantry then begin to drift apart, separating themselves into three rough groups – those going to the Deismos, those to the Ajax, and those staying behind. Your group seemed to be the smallest, although not be much. The large majority of the powered infantry in your group seemed to be clustered around you, since you were the first to boldly speak up about your intentions. However, the idea of a mere private leading the operation was a pipe dream, and any aspirations that you had about the leading the mission were smashed by Williamson’s next announcement.

“Alright, I see that we have our groups of volunteers. As a majority of Company B seems to comprise the Deismos group, I am hereby placing Captain Philip Weinberg in command.”

A somewhat dorky looking man steps forward, and walks over to your group. There is nothing geeky about his voice, however, as he says, “Alright ladies and gentlemen, into the Assault Shuttles. We have a rescue operation to do.” There is a weak cheer given by the crowd, and Philip immediately snaps, “I can’t HEAR YOU!!” This is met with a much louder cheer, and Philip nods. “Board Assault Shuttles 1214 – 1216. That should be enough to carry all of us.”

/ooc Unfortunately, I did take into account your second machine gun. Or rather your lack of one. My sincerest apologies for not noticing this until the last DM post, and my apologies again for forgetting to mention it. I thought your expense numbers were a little odd, so when I added them up I found that you were 2000 req points above the 20,000 limit. I think what happened is that I increased the prices for some things a bit – and if you were using the outdated information from the website, this would be why you were over. For some reason I thought you couldn’t have your second SMG regardless of what you did, so I dropped it, but after recalculating I discovered that if you drop the claymore, you’ll have spent 20,000 exactly and can have 2 SMGs and a targeting comp. The choice is yours. I will edit this post to reflect your decision, however keep in mind the new rules for melee weapons. Again, my humblest apologies for this.

As to your question about capital ships, the easiest and most direct way into the ship would be to enter it through the landing bay. Of course, this is also one of the heaviest defended areas of the ship, due to the fact that it is also the most obvious place to attempt a boarding action. From the outside, the only thing you can do is punch holes in the armor, and/or blow away the turret-mounted weapons of the capital ship, from its PDLs up to its laser cannons. You could also try disabling some of its engines, but this is generally best left to torpedoes – lots of torpedoes. Now, note that on a small ship like a gunboat, punching lots of holes in its hull could probably kill it, due to its much lower armor value in comparison to the other capital ship types. Obviously, attempting to do this to a battlecruiser will just give its bridge crew a good laugh. Once you manage to get inside the battlecruiser, however, it’ll be you who is laughing. Ooc/

You activate several of your maneuvering thrusters, spinning your WAVE around while continuing on your original vector towards the Apollo. You take aim at the Majestic Viper, a target rapidly moving (from your perspective) away from you. In addition to this, the Viper was changing position rapidly, a result of having entered into melee combat with Adam. The two WAVEs close, and in a blur of motion the Viper lashes out with the blade that it was carrying. Adam raises his own weapon in a parry, but is unable to counter before the Viper disengages its blade and strikes again, this time slipping under Adam’s guard to leave a long gash running down the side of his Tornado’s torso. This successful attack also leaves the Viper open to a counterattack, and Adam takes advantage with a blade slash of his own. However, his blade bites into the Viper’s sword carrying left-arm, a blow that the Viper easily shrugs off due to its much heavier armor. At this point your reticule finally lights up with a positive target lock from your targeting computer, and you let rip with your machine gun. Even at this distance, you can see several of your shots spark off of the Viper’s armor, and its pilot whirls the massive war machine around to return fire. Unfortunately for the Viper’s pilot, you had already exited the maximum range for a machine gun. Doubly unfortunate, Adam took advantage of the Majestic pilot’s distracted state, and rammed the tip of his WAVE’s sword into the Viper’s torso. The Majestic WAVE’s heavy armor managed to deflect the thrust, but at the cost of some more of its precious armor. Before the Viper could retaliate, Adam had boosted his Tornado back out of range, putting his WAVE’s superior speed to good use. As you turn back around to continue on towards the Apollo, you send your message to Adam. A moment later you receive your reply. “Thanks for the assistance . . . what little you gave me. Just keep going – I’ll keep this guy busy for awhile longer.”

Hudre

Your rapid evasive maneuvers give you a minor case of whiplash from the sudden changes in direction, but you can always get that massaged out later, assuming you survived. Thankfully, it was not all for nothing, as the missile lock warning screech suddenly cuts off, filling your ****pit with blessed silence as the Majestic missile looses its target lock and self-destructs. Your thoughts then turn to getting revenge on the Majestic gunship that fired that missile, and so you search for the responsible Nighthawk. While this would ordinarily be fairly difficult in a swirling melee like the one that was going on around you, this time it’s quite easy to find your tormentor. It’s the nearby Nighthawk that is closing with you, obviously lining up for another attack run. As you turn to face your tormentor and start to line your reticule up with the targeting computer’s best estimate as to where to fire to guarantee a hit, several gatling gun shells slam into your Heron’s torso. Also, the missile lock warning begins to warble again. This time, however, you don’t let the Nighthawk get a chance to fire off a missile, filling the space in between you with shotgun pellets and machine gun slugs. This dual gun blaze convinces the Nighthawk’s pilot to immediately break off, and the missile lock warning tone disappears. While your shots were taken at a bit too distant of a range to make your shotgun hit with maximum impact, your sensors do report several of the pellets smashing into the nose of the Nighthawk. Your machine gun also stitches a line of holes in the Majestic gunship’s nose and left side.

Flaag

/ooc That’s fine. What you’re doing right now is good enough to get you through. Anytime you feel in the mood/have time to write more, feel free though. ooc/

You activate several of your WAVE’s lateral thrusters, attempting to push your Shogun Mk II out of the Majestic pilot’s sights, and perhaps even slip around to one side of the Wolverine. Unfortunately, a shotgun is designed to prevent dodging at least of all damage, and this holds true as several pellets lodge themselves in your WAVE’s chest and right arm. However, you manage to avoid the worst of the Wolverine’s attack, and quickly return fire with your rifle. The shot goes a bit wide this time, however, the slug gouging some armor off of the Majestic WAVE’s right arm. It is at this point the Wolverine’s pilot decides on a new course of action, as he attempts to close with your WAVE. By closing, he minimizes the long-range effectiveness of your rifle while maximizing the short-range effectiveness of his shotgun . . . and this Wolverine also appears to be armed with a wicked battle axe.

Breezer

You chase after the Majestic gunship, firing your cannons at the maneuverable Saber as soon as they’re reloaded. Finally, one of your shots hits home, into the already badly weakened rear armor of the Saber. Judging by your sensor readings, another two or three hits in that area and the Saber will be destroyed. Unfortunately, you might not get this chance, as suddenly a hostile sensor contacts blinks on your sensor display. Apparently this one was closing rapidly on your position, and it was also a Saber: almost certainly your target’s wingman, coming to provide backup. Your luck changes from bad to worse, however, as while you are distracted with the sensor readings, the Saber in front of you breaks left, and a quick kick-stop (fighter maneuver involving a sudden stop, allowing your pursuer to blast past you, and then letting you play chase for awhile) later, he is now behind you. Several gatling guns shots tear into your rear armor plating, ruining its pristine finish but not doing too much else . . . yet. A sudden idea coming to you, you turn your gunship around, towards your opponent’s wingmate. Flying towards him rapidly, you engage him in what can only be called a game of “chicken”, only with guns involved too. With your gunship on an almost straight-ahead course, both the gunship behind you and in front have a clean shot at you with their weapons, and this they put to good effect, ravishing your front and rear armor plates. However, you continue on your course, and the enemy gunship pilot does on his, apparently too high on adrenaline to notice that his wingman is right behind you. At the last possible moment, you hit your lateral thrusters, and they push your gunship to the right so fast that you also get whiplash. However, both Majestic pilots were highly trained, wingmen who had worked with each for some time, and had watched and frequently scoffed at the cartoons where the hero gets his enemies to crash into each other. Still, they nearly are both destroyed by the same trick they found so amusing, one gunship breaking left and the other breaking right, saving themselves from a head-on collision but still scraping the bottoms of their gunships together. The impact grinds a modest amount of armor off of both gunships’ front quarters, but as you swing around, you see that both of them are still operational . . . and both pilots are clearly p*ssed as they zoom toward you, gatling guns blazing.

Dunin Hemm

/ooc Generally, rockets are meant to be fired in a stream of several at a time. Missiles, due to their much higher damage potential, are fired once or twice at a time. Rockets don’t do enough damage to be used like that, generally. Just something to keep in mind. ooc/

Your gunship swings around at an amazing speed, nearly throwing you up against the one wall of the ****pit with the centrifical force. You cut down on your left thruster, slowing your turning rate, and look up to see the Majestic Mosquito juking straight into your crosshairs. You snap off a shot with a rocket, but it is obviously too late as the Mosquito leaves the middle of your targeting crosshairs, and the rocket flies past its back end by only a few meters. Suddenly, your right thrusters kick in again – at full force. Once again you are nearly thrown up against one side of the ****pit, but react quicker this time, cutting back the right thruster’s output to match the left one’s. This amazingly brings the Mosquito back into your crosshairs, and you let loose with another rocket. You then turn your heavy fighter away from the Mosquito hoping that when it fires, it will hit some of your undamaged armor and not the thin protection around your ****pit. Thankfully, this is what happens, as the Mosquito returns fire, and several of its shots manage to find your large gunship fairly easily, chipping the right quadrant’s armor plating.

/ooc Note that at this point, you now do not have enough rockets to kill the Mosquito by yourself. You will either have to get creative, get someone (including the gunners aboard the Illustrious) to help you, or go back to the Illustrious for a reload, after beating on this corporate jerk some more. ooc/

Zappa

You grunt in annoyance as one of the escorting trio, the Firebrand, breaks off from the main group and heads your way, clearly attempting to stop you from getting to the rest of the group. Deciding not to waste any time with this Majestic puke, you head directly towards the Firebrand. The Majestic pilot snaps off a shot at you with his shotgun as the range closes, peeling pieces of armor off of nearly every part of your WAVE. However, while it takes off armor from everywhere, it also does very little damage to each individual part. Then you are in melee range, and smash aside the Firebrand with two rapid, powerful sword blows. Both of your blows connect, moving a bit too fast for the Majestic pilot to react and block the blows in time. Part of this is due to your rapid speed, and this speed also gives your blade attacks a tiny bit more power, biting into the Firebrand’s left side and glancing off its ****pit, scraping off most of its armor and no doubt scaring the sh*t out of the Majestic pilot. Then, you are past the Firebrand, and moving on toward the three other Majestic WAVEs in this group. Behind you, the dazed pilot of the Firebrand manages to quickly get his machine in order again, and then turns his WAVE around and begins chasing after you. It will take him awhile to catch up with you due to your head start, and by that time you hope that the other Majestic WAVEs will be destroyed or crippled. As you approach the group of three, you scan them for what sort of weapons each of them has, but the answer is forthcoming as all three of them rotate around to bring you into their sights, and open fire. Two rifle slugs hammer into your WAVE, one into your chest and the second into your left arm(Tornado and Banshee), and a single pistol shot from the Ballista bounces off of your ****pit armor. The sudden warble of a missile lock from the Ballista gives you warning that it had locked onto you and was about to give you a sample of the very armament you are trying to destroy. Meanwhile, the two other escort WAVEs, the Banshee and the Tornado, have begun to close with you, with the clear intention of engaging in a two-on-one melee fight.

Terra

You manage to get down to the launch bay in a reasonable amount of time, only to find that your gunship is not ready for you. Some of the technicians were still working on it, checking it over to make sure it was ready to enter combat. At this point, with Majestic bogies swarming everywhere, you’d have been willing to fly a cardboard box out to meet them. Finally, however, the technicians give the OK, and you practically throw yourself up into the ****pit. You quickly run through your start-up checklist, thinking back to the countless hours you have spent in training. Your reminiscence is cut short, however, by the Control Deck giving you the go-ahead to launch. You quickly pilot your gunship into one of the Illustrious’s launch tubes, and a few moments later are flying in the dark void of space. Looking down at your sensor board, you see lots of hostile contacts . . . too many hostile contacts. Your sensor board is nearly covered with them, and you can’t tell which ones are the WAVEs and gunships launched from the Apollo, and which ones are distant bogies moving in from Phobos. You decide to contact your squadron leader for orders, and the response is nearly immediate. “This is Mathias Caulder. Good to see that your gunship finally got checked-out and okayed for launch. Right now everything’s just a swirling dogfight. Adjust your sensor range down to the immediate area around the Illustrious, and pick one of the remaining targets. Happy Hunting.”
Following your company commander’s advice, you adjust the sensor range, and almost immediately a great majority of the sensor contacts are gone. Looking at your sensors, you are still having some trouble picking out targets, due to the swirling nature of the massive battle going on around the Illustrious. Several gunships have broken through that combat zone, however, and are headed for the Illustrious. The current group that your sensors identify appears to be a pair of MF-22 Lances. Dangerous space superiority fighters, they are more than a match for your gunship. You considering the wisdom of engaging two of them at once, when another Shrike moves in to form on your wing. “Paul, this is Mike. You got any targets you want to take together?”

Lady Hawk

You do not receive any answer from the Ambulance, probably because it’s already out of range, or everyone is too busy keeping Charlie stable to respond. You do get an immediately reply from Pvt. Johnson, however. “I believe that they’ve been taken to a makeshift prison on the corner of 10th Street and 7th Avenue. There used to be an old basketball court there, so that’s probably where they are. We’re at 8th Street now, and we want to get there quickly, so we’ll be taking this road all the way to the 8th Street/6th Avenue intersection, then going onto 6th Avenue, and heading to the 6th/10th intersection, so that we’ll be one block above the prison. With luck, they’ll have learned of the trouble we just caused here, and arrange their forces to intercept us, thinking we’ll take the direct way. Instead, we’ll come up behind them.” Although you seriously doubt it will be that simple, you don’t really have any better suggestions, so you just simply stay silent, and follow after the APC. A few minutes pass as you make it through the first block into the city, but suddenly two sensor contacts flash onto your boards, and then disappear. The brief sensor contact, however, manages to inform you that there are two WAVEs standing motionless two blocks ahead and one block to the right.

You spin your gunship while diving down and to the right, decreasing the tailing Majestic pilot’s ability to hit you but several gatling guns shots still bite your rear armor. Considering your options, you decide this is actually the best choice, but before you go you decide to tell Ralph your plan. “But we just got here! Alright, alright . . . I’m coming.” Ralph whined, but you know that he will be right behind you. Before you go, however, you wrestle your gunship back around and onto the tail of your target Lance. You fire your cannons again, and this time your luck is a little better as both of your shots manage to slam into the rear of the Lance. The twin blows fail to destroy the durable craft, however, and you decide now is the time to turn tail and head for the Illustrious. You whip your fighter around so that you’re heading once again back towards the massive battlecruiser, and spin your gunship around again in an attempt to keep your rear armor in relatively good condition. This time the trick is not as effective, however, especially with the fact that your target Lance has now joined your pursuer behind you, and both are firing their gatling guns constantly.

/ooc Bah, I knew that. I think when I was typing up your post I was thinking of all the space fighter games, like Wing Commander, that have no realistic physics. Hit the afterburners – go faster, but when the afterburners cut out your speed decreases.
You also don’t have to worry about not being able to maneuver or slow down – the boosters that you just emptied are the speed increasing ones. You also have numerous thrusters located about your WAVE that have their own reserve tanks. Ooc/

You think about attempting to redirect most of your reactor’s power into recharging your speed boosters, but then remember that they have a pre-set recharge rate, and that increasing that rate is generally quite ill-advised. You would have to override several safety protocols anyway, and by the time that you were done, you would probably be at your destination already. In the meantime, you have other problems as a Majestic Shrike drops onto your tail and starts closing with you. It seems to be a bit damaged, probably due to the fact that it was a Commonwealth gunship that had been salvaged after the first battle over Mars. Nevertheless, you could hardly let the bugger have a free lunch by following after you from behind, safe from harm while it pecked you to death. Activating several of your auxiliary thrusters, you twist your WAVE around to face the approaching gunship, while still continuing on your course towards the Apollo. You bring your machine gun up into firing position, and fire off a burst towards the Shrike, aiming for its ****pit. The shot is still a bit long, however (space might not slow the bullets down, but recoil still reduces accuracy ), and only a bullet or two impacts against the Shrike’s ****pit. However, this does spook the gunship pilot a bit, and a good handful of the other bullets that you fire also hit, blasting away part of the Shrike’s forward armor. The gunship then returns fire, but you are prepared and shift your WAVE to one side, avoiding most of the gatling gun fire, and those shots that do hit you mostly impact against your right arm and leg.

Terra Australis is on a distinguished road
"Mike good to see you here, we got 2 Lancers that have made it through, lets give them a warm welcome"

Seeing the telltale thrust plume of the Lancers it is decided to attack them from above and behind, hoping that the crew of the Lancers have thinking that this would be a Turkey shoot on the Illustrious.

"Mike we ready?"

"Yeah lets engage"

Moving above and behind the lancers Mike and proceed to dive down on the lancers and waiting till the last possible second to fire.

Using the reverse thrusters on the front of our gunship to prevent an overshoot manouver and putting ourselves into the line of sight of the Lancers.

The effect is that even though we are moving forward we are now matching the speed of the lancers while raking them with gunfire.

Mike and i follow the lancers trying to stay behind them.....

Triolus jets backwards and fires another shot to keep out of range of the axe then turns sharply to the left to avoud the return fire.

ooc:
Would it be possible for a WAVE to punch/ kick effectively? and whats their arm and leg movement like compared to people?

Meanwhile, the two other escort WAVEs, the Banshee and the Tornado, have begun to close with you, with the clear intention of engaging in a two-on-one melee fight.
with a huge grunt, I speed up my mech, and pilot it towards the 2 mechs storming towards me, aiming both blades directly at the oncomming Banshee's ****pit, and calculating the most likely way he'll try to dodge, adapting my flight control system too those movements, in the mean time aiming to get the enemy mechs between me and the Balista's fire, or making sure that I dodge it and it hits the oncomming firebrand

No Dachi responds, keeping half his mind firmly fixed on the movements of the Brigand. Fortunatly the Rifle shot didn't appear to have done much damage, but the impact had made him smash his kneecap on the underside of the data console, and it hurt like hell...

"No problem, I may as well stick around now that I'm here..."

No Dachi suddenly boosts hard to the right before boosting forwards, hopefully bringing himself about on the Brigand's flank. As he does so, he takes a swing with the Claymore, aimed at the WAVE's head. A clumsy horizontal slash that would have had his uncle shaking his head in disgust. But, a fact that would perhaps keep the old man from rolling in his grave, No Dachi had intended for it to be clumsy and easy to anticipate, having given the attack plenty of obvious wind-up. He continues to charge forward at the Brigand fast so that the Majestic pilot cannot dodge to one side, but instead has to duck to avoid it. As soon as the Brigand drops, No Dachi empties a Rifle round into its head at point blank range. Regardless of whether or not the shot suceeds, No Dachi follows up with a powerful kick also aimed for the Brigand's head. Should this fail, No Dachi simply boosts his Shogun MkII downward and body-slams the Majestic WAVE, hopefully knocking the pilot around enough as to stop him from countering successfully untill No Dachi's Rifle has reloaded.

Crazy then hit his engines to full, jerking to a stop, as the two Majestic gunships shot past him. Crazy then spun around and started to chase them again, heading them towards the Illustrious, so the big ship could get its PDL's to bear on the silly Majestic pilots*

Your machine gun also stitches a line of holes in the Majestic gunship’s nose and left side

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Hudre follows after the Nighthawk, knowing that it can easily out-maneuver his WAVE, but not wating it to get a clean shot at him. As he follows, he realizes that he is too far to hit well with the shotgun, so he fires for the engines with his SMG, trying to slow it down and maybe even cripple it.

ooc: Last time I remember, 3 = 3. Not 3 = 4...

*Ignoring the sounds of bullets impacting the hull of his WAVE, Hewitt considers his next manvouer. Grinning he gets an idea that would probably do considerable harm to the majestic pilot, if not at least scare the pants off him...*

Tower, this is operations. I'm picking up the inbound aircraft on an approach vector to runway 4 over.

*Hewitt adjusts his control thrusters so once activated he will travel directly at his pursurer.*

Acknowledged operations we have the aircraft on scope. Identification alpha, zulu, niner, eight, niner. over.

*Relatively speaking of course. Hewitt takes a grip of the throttle as he angles his flamethrower to aim at the distance ****pit along with his machine gun.*

Tower, aircraft alpha zulu niner eight niner is requesting permission to land on runway 4 over.

Well he goes nothing...

Permission granted. Aircraft is cleared to land.

*Hewitt switches on full throttle.*

Wait! We are picking up another aircraft! It's headed straight for the incoming airliner!

*Suddenly Hewitt is thrown back into his seat as his WAVE suddenly undergoes a new acceleration. The far off fighter starts to grow in size quickly as the Heron appears to close in. (When really, all I'm doing is slowing down a little)*

Get the fire crews to runway 4!!! Radio the two aircraft and order emergency evasive procedures!!!

*Wasting no time, Hewitt unloads with both the flamethrower and the machine gun, aimming for the ****pit of the Shrike once again. As he stares at his target, becoming larger by the second, Hewitt can almost swear he could see the whites of the enemy pilots eyes as they both travel on a collision course.*

*Distant explosion* Oh dear god. How could've this happened. The humanity...

*But then again Hewitt always had a wild imagination.*

“Alright ladies and gentlemen, into the Assault Shuttles. We have a rescue operation to do.”

"Weeeee!"

“I can’t HEAR YOU!!”

"WEEEEEEE!!!!!!"

Cheering along with the rest of the infantry gathered around Captain Philips, Fluffie's haunting dream fades away as he's caught up in the whole event. Joining Nicholas, Philips and the others in their quest to locate and board the shuttles. The quest, however, is mostly boring and uneventfull, as their are enough signs around showing the troopers where to go. Not gaining much experience, magic items or going a level up at all, Fluffie's old RP-er () mind sulks a bit, as he boards the shuttle and sits down. Looking around, he spots the person he's looking for... Good ol' Philips (lucky me, I ended up in the same shuttle!)!

"Philips, sir! Are we going to dock with the boarded ship itself and help drive them out, or are we going to attack them from behind?"

LH looks at the readings and then calculates the distance to the nearest of the WAVES so that she can gain surprise.

On a closed channel

LH - Pvt Johnny - there are 2 WAVES xx.xx.xx from here i am moving to engage, you carry on your mission.

not waiting for a response LH moves the Wave thru the streets, keeping a low profile and using the buildings for cover she gets in a position where she can launch a grenade salvo that will cause confusion as this wakes them up and hopefully causes some damage she will move into position and use the heavy MG to max effect

*David strafes to the left, reloading and firing as he goes. He boosts downwards and takes some shots at the cóckpit.*

*Grabs the freshly loaded musket from his assistant settler Fluffie, and tosses him the empty one.

All done!

Hudre

You chase after the Nighthawk, but with its higher speed, this is a losing proposion. Determined not to let the Majestic pilot get away this time, you ignite your boosters and manage to somewhat decrease the rate at which the Nighthawk is pulling away from you. Realizing that it is essential to cripple the Nighthawk’s engines, you target the thruster nozzles at the rear of the gunship and open fire. As the Majestic gunship was trying to outrun you, and thus making minimal evasive maneuvers, most of your shots hit, chewing gaping holes in the Nighthawk’s rear armor. One of the Nighthawk’s thruster nozzles suddenly flashes, and then goes black. Your sensors report a small decrease in the Nighthawk’s speed, but the souct gunship is still too fast for you and pulls out of machine gun range, and then keeps on going. Your sensors report a second Nighthawks closing on your position; evidently the first Nighthawk had called his wingman for help. The newcomer was badly damaged already, probably thanks to the 52nd Shrike that was doggedly following after it at a distance.

/ooc If you don’t have lateral thrusters installed, you don’t have side thrusters. Instead, your gunships turns by varying the amounts of thrust from each of your main engines (this is handled by a computer, although it can be done manually). Ooc/

You continue your evasive maneuvers for a few more moments, evading most, but not all, of the Lancer’s fire. You then cut power to your engines, but not before swinging your gunship around to point back to the way you came. Both Lancers continue to close, and hammer your gunship with gatling gun fire. However, you quickly drop your crosshairs over the damaged Lancer and return fire. The two cannon shots speed towards the approaching Lancer, and the impact wrenches the Majestic craft down and to one side. One of your shots smashes into the gunship’s ****pit; the other, just in front of it. The Lancer immediately breaks off, leaving his wingman to “finish” the job. The other Majestic pilot doesn’t get the chance to, however, as you ignite your engines again, slowing your backwards movement towards the Illustrious to a sudden stop. The second Lancer zooms past you, immediately banking down and to the left before you can turn and take the easy shot it would have presented had the pilot continued going straight. As your gunship quickly regains its prevous speed, you swing your gunship around to chase after the two Lancers, hoping to herd them into rnage of the Illustrious’s PDLs. Unfortunately, it seems the PDLs are already busy with several dozen other targets, as the first Majestic units from the Apollo break through the swirling melee to attack the Commonwealth battlecruiser. Perhaps you could enlist the PDLs assistance by asking for it . . .

You throw your WAVE hard to the right, and then straight ahead at the Brigand. A blur of metal passes through the space you had been a moment before: the brigand’s latest shot. As you sweep into melee range, you launch a slow horizontal slash that the Brigand’s pilot blocks with his remaining arm. You then launch a feint attack with your WAVE’s left shoulder, which the Brigand reacts to by diving, as you planned. Pointing your rifle downward, you take aim at the Brigand’s head and fire. At such close range, your accuracy is poor already, and firing at a moving target only compounds it. Thus, it should come as no surprise that you miss, the rifle slug bluring past the Brigand’s head by only a few feet. The Brigand raises its rifle to fire, but before it can you lash out with your WAVE’s right foot. Although the Brigand was just within melee range, your foot manages to catch it with a glancing blow to the head. The impact sends a jar through your entire WAVE, throwing you against the control board again, but also sending the Brigand flipping end over end, out of control. By the time the Brigand’s pilot brings his machine back under control, he is outside of melee range, and you can see a green light by your rifle on the monitor, indicating that it has been reloaded.

The missile lock warning screaming in your ears, you abandon all caution and charge towards the [i]Banshee[/i[. As you enter melee range with the Majestic WAVE, you slow your approach so that you don’t smash into it. Before the Banshee can attack, you swing both of your swords around in a criss-cross fashion, attempting scissor off the Banshee’s ****pit. Prepare to enter into close combat already, the Banshee braces itself and raises its sword in a block. One of your blades clangs uselessly against the Banshee’s blade, but thankfully the Banshee has nothing with which to block your other blade, and this slices into the Bnahsee’s ****pit. Meanwhile, the missile closes on you, but as you engage the Banshee it is forced to break off to avoid hitting it. The missile attempts to loop back, but is forced to break off again as the Firebrand closes on you from behind. Without enough fuel to loop around again, the missile’s self-destruct activates, and the missile explodes harmlessly away from any of the combatants. A fist suddenly slams into the small of your back, throwing you up against your chest restraints. The Firebrand just fired its shotgun into the back of your WAVE. The Banshee then chooses this moment to disengage its blade, and slash at you, catching your Shogun in the right leg. It pulls its sword back for another swing, while the Firebrand reloads behind you, and the Ballista continues toward the Illustrious, the Tornado following along behind.

/ooc Stats changed from the previous post to reflect the two SMGs. Ooc/

/ooc You’re getting a bit ahead of yourself. You have to deal with the handful of close escorts that the Apollo has, who are there for the simple purpose of stopping anyone who breaks through. Then you have to deal with the PDL turrets guarding the hanger’s door. Then you can “have your fun” ooc/

As you approach the Apollo, you notice that there are several hostile contacts remaining fairly close to the Majestic battlecruiser. As you watch, your sensor board reports that a pair of those contacts have broken off from the battlecruiser, and are now approaching your position. A moment later, your sensors update you, identifying both contacts as Mosquito light gunships.

/ooc WAVE arm and leg movement is fairly good, for massive steel machines. They generally have fully developed hands and fingers, enabling the weaponry of each WAVE to be switched easily simply by dropping the former weapon and picking up the new one. In terms of arm and leg movement, the legs can not move straight out to one side like a person’s can, the legs can only move back and forth. The arms, however, are pretty much as good as a person’s, with almost equal ranges of movement.

Damage from a punch or a kick is fairly limited, generally being 5 dmg, and this often includes a 5 dmg penalty to the impacting limb of the attacking WAVE as well, since that potion of the WAVE’s body is not armored and reinforced. So, punching or kicking without a melee weapon generally results in 5 dmg for both sides. Ooc/

You fire yet again, only this time you nearly miss as the Wolverine’s pilot manages to skip his WAVE to one side with a sudden blast of booster fire from a side vent. However, your shot still connects, scouring a gouge in the right shoulder of the Wolverine’s armor. Thanks to the heavy class nature of the Wolverine, however, you manage to stay away from its axe . . . for the moment. However, this doesn’t stop the Wolverine from using its shotgun, which it does, spraying your WAVE with shotgun pellets and jarring you about in your ****pit.

You swing around to slip in behind the two Lancers, but if they notice you, they don’t seem to care as they continue to dive towards the Illustrious’s hull. You and Mike wait until you nearly crash into them, and then open fire. Cutting in your front thrusters, you manage to slow your gunships down in a kick-stop, and then continue to follow after the Lancers, firing all the way. The PDL that the two of them seem to be targeting swings around and starts firing on them, along with two other PDL turrets located nearby. The resulting crossfire quickly turns the space surrounding the two Lancers into a scene from H*ll, but the two Majestic gunships continue to close, you and Mike following. Finally, the two Lancers break off, but not before raking their target with gunfire, and dropping two missiles that shoot off, closing on the PDL . . .

You use your boosters to push your WAVE around to the left, managing to strafe away from the line of the Firebrand’s fire. However, the stream of bullets eventually catches up with you, nibbling away at your chest armor. You return fire as your rifle reloads, and then dive to a spot below the Firebrand as you wait for your rifle to reload. As the computer informs you that the rifle is ready for firing again, the Firebrand spins around so that is facing you again, and opens fire with its machine gun.

You can just picture the Private’s scowl at your new nickname for him, as he replies tersely, “Understood.”

You then close on the last spot that your sensors register for the hostile contacts, hoping that the buildings will shield your sensors as well as they seemed to be shielding your opponents. Eventually the hostile contacts leap back onto your sensors – and your heart nearly leaps into your throat as the sensors report the two are indeed WAVEs: one a Viper, the other a Banshee, and both of them are stopped just one block away. Carefully, you work your Shogun into a back alleyway, and crept forward. Peeking your ****pit around the corner, you see that the two WAVEs sitting only half a block from you . . . and they’re powered down. Remembering where you are, you suddenly recall that you used to visit a small café near here, which served wonderful coffee. Perhaps the WAVEs’ pilots stopped for a drink?

Fluffie

Despite your belief that everyone will have to search for the correct assault shuttle, it’s fairly easy to find Assault Shuttle 1214. This is due to the fact that it actually happens to be the shuttle closest to you. Within moments the shuttle is full of powered infantry, all of them settling into the seats and buckling the crash restraints. The shuttle’s pilot grunts and then shouts, “Yeah, you better buckle up – this is going to be a wild ride.” You soon notice that Williams is also in the same shuttle as you, and shout your questions over to him. He replies, “We don’t really know the situation onboard the Deismos at the moment, but it’s probably safe to say that a majority of the ship is under Majestic control. Thus, we’ll be cutting our way into the ship with the assault shuttles’ boarding clamps, and then all of us will attempt to make it to the bridge and stop the self-destruct.”

You quickly set your comm system to broadcast a general message that could be picked up by anyway, including the Majestic pilot. Then you begin your monologue of the airplane crash, although this seems to confuse the Majestic pilot more than frighten him.
The pilot’s gunfire drops off as he stops firing to listen to just what the h*ck you’re saying, and you take advantage of this by opening fire, aiming for his ****pit. Finally, at the last instant the Majestic pilot breaks off, just barely avoiding a collision with you.

Terra Australis is on a distinguished road
On seeing the two Lancers fire off missiles at the ship, and then break away Mike and i are left with a difficult decision do we let the missiles go toward the ship, and hope that the PDL will knock them out, or do we attempt to shoot the missiles down and then risk attack from the Lancers, though after there little encounter with the PDL i suspect that they will be a little reluctant to do this.

"Mike we need to protect the ship and destroy those missiles"

Mike "Agreed"

"Mike we need to get above them so that we can dive down on the missiles and also avoid the fire from the PDL as it attempts to shoot the missiles down, i got a few hits from the PDL, and it aint pretty."

Mike "Lets Rock"

Hitting the thrusters on our gunships to maximum we rapidly gain in altititude and get into an attack vector on the missiles.

The targetting computer reports that there is a lock on the missiles.

"Mike you take the one on the left i will take the one on the right"

Mike "Roger"

Beginning the dive towards the missiles, there is a hail of fire from the PDL trying to hit the incoming missiles.

Mike and i in our gunships begin to rake fire down towards the missiles from above..... diving down we approach closer and continue firing rapidly at the missiles.

Thinking to myself wondering how much armour do these missiles have, and how we need to stop them.

In between all this i monitor the radar for any sign of the Lancers.

"Mike we need to keep an eye for those Lancers"

Mike "Roger, these damn missiles are a tough target to hit"

LH looks at the 2 WAVES - A VIPER and a BANSHEE

damn those look good...... we could use both of those.....that would give us 3 WAVES...... a plan begins to form in her devious likkle mind

LH gets back onto the secure channel to Pvt Johnny - although they both have their differences LH uses her skills of persuasion and tactics and just how much better of they would be if they had 3 WAVES.... to outline a plan. she asks him to send 5 of his men to help her ......

LH then looks at the WAVES and remebers the Coffee shop it was just round the corner so to speak.

LH finds a suitable building and leaves the saftey of the WAVE behind. she pulls out her hand key and imobaliser Fob for the WAVE - there is a DOOP DOOP sound as the orange lights light up on the WAVE to indicate that it is locked and safe

she makes her way on foot carefully thru the shadows (in civilan gear not in police uniform ) to the coffee shop she has with her her side arm and a rifle from one of the infantry guys (pretty please ) she looks at the coffee shop to see if the 2 Majestic guys are there......

if so she takes aim with the rifle.... very carefully and then she will try to assasinate one or both of them

Perhaps you could enlist the PDLs assistance by asking for it . . .
*Crazy chases after the two Lancers and waches as they head towards the Illustrious. Crazy slowly pushes forward his throtal, activating his engines again, thrusting his gunship forward at a faster pace, and closing in the gap between him and his targets. As his targets neared the huge battlecruiser, Crazy opened up a comm channel to them*

"Um.. Hello? Illustrious? Could I like, harras you to get some of your PDLS SHOOTING AT THESE TWO LITTLE SCUM BAG LANCERS HEADING TOWARDS THE BACK OF YOU! TA VERY MUCH!"

*Crazy cut the comm before any anwser came and continued to charge after the lancers, closing the distance between them. Slowly he, somehow, in his drunken state, managed to line up the crosshairs on the rear most Lancer. Crazy pressed the trigger, and felt his gunship jiggle a bit as his cannons fired again. The shots ripped through space, heading towards the top of the gunship. If they hit, they would send the Lancer spinning head-over heels for a while. Crazy grinned*

No Dachi is infamous around these parts
No Dachi's pulse races as the Brigand drifts out of melee range, and everything seems to slow down. He brings his WAVE's Rifle to bear, aims for the weakened armour on the Brigand's head and pulls back on the trigger. The recoil of his handheld cannon sends his own WAVE drifting backwards, but No Dachi quickly counters this with his thrusters, before strafing to the right. In the event that the Rifle bullet misses, No Dachi then boosts forward as fast as he can and slams into the Brigand before slashing horizontally at its head with his Claymore.

Armor: 55/51/59/45/43/20

Majestic Shrike 1 (Gets hit 4 times, for 4 x 4 = 16 dmg, and 3 times, for 3 x 2 = 6 dmg)
Armor: 47/60/70/55/5
ooc: heh, actually all that stuff in italics was meant to be just something that was going through my characters head. But whatever works I suppose.

*As Hewitt pulls away from the gunship he suddenly becomes aware of a number of confused responses coming over the comm unit. With a mild amount of alarm he realises that he had spoken the nightmarsh thoughts out loud and at the same time had accidently activated the comm unit.*

Eh heh... oops?

*Hewitt blushes and turns off the comm unit.*

Right, now back to business... - ooc: Take note, italics means 'THINKING' it not speaking it.

*Cutting off the reverse thrust, Hewitt directs the boosters once again into a different configuration that spins the WAVE around to face the gunship. By manipulating the booster controls he takes careful aim a fires off another series of machine gun bullets. Hewitt tries to keep the aimming recepticle on about the ****pit area of the fast moving gunship but it is difficult and Hewitt curses at his inability to land the perfect kill shots. A glance at the sensor screen indictates that his primary goal is still closing fast - he was running out off time to swat this annoying mosquito.*

Yeah, so the long wait is probably my fault.
