The Sol War: 2065

*David realises that a 76 year-old man with a bandaged left leg isn't the best of help in a situation like this, but points out to some of the rest of the crew a large locker unit which might be handy.*

The ship continues to shake about the other passengers as the ship goes through numerous evasive maneuvers. You run as systems check on your WAVE, and the situation is not very good. You will be able to fire your shotgun with your non-crippled arm, but you have lost most of your armor. Even with your boosters reporting at 100% (this would allow you to maneuver about in zero-G), you doubt you would last long in that fireball. Still, your helpless in here, and chances are pretty good you're not going to leave this cargo bay alive, given how sudden the evasive maneuvers have become.

Hudre's not gonna go out there alone, and even with John they wouldn't have a chance. Even the WAVE's can't fight these ships. Hudre uttered a silent prayer.

Hannibal weaves and jigs about to aviod the attentions of the two gunships while attampting to stay close the wounded ship he was tryinjg to protect

"Yes sir!!" The Helm replied enthusiastically, and set a new course, one that would take your ship directly through the now widening hole the BC and her escorting gunships and WAVEs were punching in the enemy battle line.

"I-I guess that's true. My family's also had trouble . . . in space. An illness, I guess you could call it . . . space sickness." You can see that Claire's face is almost a shade of green, and if you remember the symptoms of space sickness, you might want to move away from Claire, or give her a barf bag . . .

No Dachi

It is a different voice that answers your message, mostly likely the communication officer rather than the Commodore. "Sorry Gunboat Diplomat, but there's no way we can afford to dock while in a combat situation. If those breaches aren't sealed, anyone in those sections will be dead before we could complete docking procedures anyway, and you should still be able to maneuver even with parts of your ship exposed to vacuum."
"Understood sir." The Helm reports, and you can see on the viewscreen that the Diplomat is making a run for the widening hole in the Majestic battle line as the battle cruiser pushes forward.

Crazyboy

You see David (David91)pointing at a dark gray cabinet halfway across the cargo bay. You are starting to feel dizzy, unless the rest of the holes are sealed up quickly, there will soon be no air left at all.

You think you manage to get David's (Crazyboy ) attention, and point to the dark gray cabinet that contains the hull sealant. Hopefully the gunship pilot understands what you are trying to tell him.

Powered down and mounted into a sort of docking port for WAVEs, you are connected into the communications network of the ship. Within moments of the Illustrious arrival, you are seeing the news scroll across your console.

Hannibal

One of the enemy gunships suddenly blows apart, forcing the other to break off. A second later your rescuer appears, a gunship bearing the marking of a CDF craft. "Thought you could use a little help there." The pilot explains tonelessly.

Rushing over to the Cabinet that the guide stated to go to, i look in there and find a couple of Canisters that of quick sealant that will help seal the smaller breaches....... and begin to work.

OOC am i in the Cargo hold or what?

If i am using the Emergency Kit that come standard with Gunship Pilots...... i put on a face mask that fits in with the pilots uniform allowing me to breathe, While i begin to get to work.

I Look over to Mike and notice that he has done the same thing!

Radioing Mike "Mike we gotta get to work fast, get the rest of the Gunship pilots to also healp us out as well, we need to also get masks for those people that dont have them.... before we lose all the air in here.

No Dachi nods grimly.

"Very well."

He then does the only thign he can do, and sits wordlessly in his chair, staring at the viewscreen at the front of the bridge, while his mind is preoccupied on the fate of the people in his hold.

*Dave pushes himself from the floor as hard as he can and makes his way towards the cabinet*

"Full speed, make for the hole in their battle line. Add our fire to theirs"

*David grabs on to a bar to keep him upright and stop being sucked towards the breaches.*

"The pilots I lost could have used your help awhile ago..." Hannibal then notices the fuel meter on his control panel and decided it was best to keep an orbit close to the CDF forces.

You begin to work as fast as you can, spraying the foam-like material into and across the holes in the bulkhead, and then moving on to another hole as the foam hardens. Although the gas masks would prevent you from suffocating if all air was lost in the Cargo Bay, the loss of pressure would probably still kill you. Already you can feel pain all over your body as the pressure difference between your body and the area around you drastically decreases. You work along your self-assigned section of the wall, until your feel a tug on your arm. It is Mike, and he signals that he can't fix a large hole by himself, and needs your help to seal it. Looking to where he is pointing, you see about a fist-sized hole, rimmed with sealant where Mike tried to patch it, but the foam was sucked out of position before it hardened.

No Dachi

"Moving into escort postion with the Illustrious. Sir, I'm detecting another ship launching from the planet." the Helsman and sensor operator report, respectively.

Crazyboy

You reached into the cabinet, slamming into the wall with a velocity that forces the air out of your lungs. You cling to the cabinet, sucking in gulps of thin air, until your head clears. You then yank open the cabinet doors, and remove something that looks like a can of whipping cream. You shrug and push off toward the damaged wall, bracing yourself this time so that the air is not driven from your lungs quite so badly. You land next to a small hole that almost sucks the can of sealant out of your hand, before you spray some of the gray foam over it. You are amazed when the foam hardens after about twenty seconds.

"Aye sir." the Gunner reports, and looses a volley of torpedoes at an enemy destroyer that was swinging around to engage the Commonwealth craft. The enemy ship's Gunner was so intent on the Illustrious that he almost saw the torpedoes too late. A wave of PDL fire slashed out at the torpedoes, destroying all but one. That last one made it through to strike against the destroyer's hull, blowing a good chuck of armor out of the destroyer's aft section. "Sir, I'm picking up another ship coming from the planet." the sensor operator reported.

You can feel pressure building up in your ears as the air around you thins . . . another minute of air loss and everyone in the room will start suffering severely. Fortunately you can see that only a few holes remained unsealed. It was now a race.

Hannibal

"We could all use help on this day." the pilot replied, breaking off to make an attack run on a Majestic gunboat that was starting to lumber toward the Commonwealth BC. "Head back and dock with the Illustrious if you need refueling and repair."

[Crazyboy]

*Dave took in a big breath of air, then let it all out and pushed off towards another hole, which he promptly filled with sealent. Once that one was full, he took in another big breath of air, let it out and went onto the next one*

*David throws a small eraser he had in his pocket at the wall and it gets sucked against a really small hole, which it blocks.*

Soon you come within sight of the park. No one else appears to be in sight, although there is a pair of ducks swimming peacefully in the pond. The now seemingly out of place sight almost breaks your heart. Suddenly, your sensors alert you to an APC heading toward your position at top speed. Although nothing else is on your sensors yet, the vehicle is no doubt being pursued

After feeling the Tug on my arm from Mike i rush over to help Mike seal the hole...... Spraying the sealant into the hole and working inwards slowly from the sides of the hole........

Working together Mike and i hopefully will get this hole done, as feeling my body now ache from the rapidly reducing pressure, also noticing several people around me without Masks on begining to gasp for air more rapidly......

"Mike we have to do it for them, if we dont then they will die, and then we will be not that far behind them when all the air is gone, and the cold temeperature will kill us!

You work methodically this way, sealing a hole, taking a breath of what little air there is left, and then moving on to the next. Suddenly, the hissing roar that is the air escaping the cargo bay is completely silent, and everyone who had been working on sealing the hull collapse from exhaustion. You are safe, but not for long . . . very quickly the little remaining air will run out, and then you will suffocate instead of asphyxiate!

The eraser does indeed wedge itself into a small hole, blocking it. A man sprays sealant over the eraser a moment later, making it airtight and ensuring that the eraser is not somehow sucked out of the ship still, and thus leaving the hole open again. Suddenly, the hissing roar that was the air escaping from the cargo bay falls silent. Everyone collapses in relief, those working at sealing all of the holes the most of all. However, the celebration is a silent and somber one, as everyone realizes that within a few minutes the remaining air still in the cargo bay will be used up.

"Seems to be a Commonwealth ship, sir. Looks a lot like a glorified shuttle. A squadron or two of enemy gunships/WAVEs are closing on it. The Illustrious is moving to intercept it, at flank speed."

The APC screeches to a halt in front of your WAVE's feet, and a man clambers out. He looks up into your WAVE's ****pit, cups his hands around his mouth, and yells, "Are you Jenn Gonzalez!?"

"The ship is some type of glorified shuttle, sir. It seems to be on a course toward the Illustrious, sir. The Illustrious is also moving through the Majestic blockade to intercept the shuttle. There is no name or registry sir . . . that can mean only one thing." Commonwealth Defense Force, Intelligence Branch. Although those agents working under cover typically were provided ship IDs, those ships built to carry Intelligence officers on official business had their IDs erased.

"Sir!! The holes in the hull of the Cargo Bay have been patched!!"

You soon receive a message that there is another ship lifting off from the planet, and that it appears to be a Commonwealth ship. Unfortunately, Majestic gunships and WAVEs were already closing on the shuttle craft, intending to either capture it or blow it out of the sky.

Working together you manage to patch the hole completely, sealing it entirely before the air whistling through it could rip away the still foamy sealant. As soon as the hole is patched, the hissing roar of air escaping is cut off, leaving the cargo bay in a deathly silence. Mike slumps, exhausted, and whispers, "It's over." However, you were not out of danger yet . . . until more air was pumped into the cargo bay, everyone in the Cargo Bay would suffocate, except for you . . . at least until the small air tanks' supply held out, anyway.

You are currently in the hold of the Flaming Bronco (with Hewitt). You have no idea if any of your friends have survived to escape to evacuating ships, and to board this ship you were hustled out of several hundred credits (basically all of the money you had on you). Of course, those credits wouldn't be worth much soon enough. A woman known as Claire Belmont briefly spoke with you on the way up through the atmosphere, asking you if you had seen her brother. She is now talking to another man, looking a bit sick. He hands her a paper bag, and she hurriedly jams it up against her mouth before retching.

"Thanks, I -" Claire suddenly shoves one of the bags up against her mouth and retches. She retches several more times, trying to keep the bag close to her mouth with one hand while holding onto a handhold with the other. She coughs weakly, and then exhales through her nose to blow what vomit flowed up into her nostrils. She manages to close the bag before more than a few tiny globules of vomit escape from the bag, and these she quickly captures with a second bag. As she does this you notice that your hands are actually shaking. "T-thank. My family, we have a space sickness . . . my brother calls it the family curse. Usually we just take some medicine, but I think I left it at the spaceport with the rest of my luggage.

As you approach the Illustrious, you receive a communication. "You are not clear to dock with the Illustrious at this time, pilot. There is a shuttle coming up from the planet, and we need it to land aboard the ship safe and sound, clear? Once the shuttle is aboard, all friendly ships will be given clearance to land, and then the Illustrious is getting out of here."

/ooc You don't need to refuel for, oh . . . at least a week, although with a full tank you wouldn't have to worry about running empty for about a month. ooc/

*Dave looks around to see if there is a communicator by the door or somewhere around the cargo bay so he can tell the bridge to turn the damn air on*

Ryon wondered for a moment what the lady's brother looked like. He felt a little uneasy about losing practically all the credits he carried but, oddly enough the lady known as Claire Belmont calmed him down a bit just by him seeing her barf into the brown paper bag. After all... he could be the one puking. Then looking around the hold, his mind wandered about where he was going....

Now that we have the Cargo bay sealed we need to get some air into here, Starting to bang on the walls of the Cargo Bay, and also using the Coms in the face Mask hopefully we can Patch into the Ships communication.

"Also we need to be able to look for the communication with the other parts of the ship Mike this should be near the door somewhere"

"Don't just stand there then! Unseal the cargo bay or else they'll asphixiate! Make no move for the shuttle, the Illustrious seems to be taking care of business and if we take another hit we're done for, set a course for Mars and stick to it, running as fast as we can without running out of fuel before we arrive."

No Dachi sighs and stands up.

The light on the door shifts from red back to green, and there is a loud hissing of air as oxygen is pumped into the cargo bay.

The speaker suddenly crackles to life. "We've got a Commonwealth BC coming in ahead of us, and a Commonwealth shuttle coming in behind us. And that shuttle is getting hammered. So . . . any passenger who goes out there and helps the shuttle out will be paid 100 Commonwealth credits."

/ooc Note: You still have your gunship, although it is rather battered.

"Maybe . . . but then again maybe not. I'm going to ask the captain to cycle an airlock or something . . . I'm going out there." John says, then falls silent as he presumably communications his desire to the bridge.

"Yes sir. We're almost at maximum range now, however, so if we don't turn around soon, our weapons will be out of range completely in about two minutes." the Gunner reports.
"Sir, I'm picking up a communication from the cargo bay . . . a WAVE is asking for permission to leave the cargo bay and join the fight." the communication officer suddenly says.

Terra

The light above the door suddenly shifts from red to green, and there is a loud hissing as fresh air is pumped into the room. "Ahhhh . . . fresh air." Mike says, slumping gratefully to the floor.

No Dachi

"Aye sir!! Unsealing cargo bay and pumping fresh oxygen." the chief engineer reports, entering the commands that would save the passengers in the cargo bay from a slow death by lack of air.
"Receiving communication from the Illustrious sir." the communication officer announced.

This is the Illustrious. Any nearby ship that is still loyal to the Commonwealth please render assistance to that shuttle in any way possible. If you still have any loyalty to your rightful government, help us!

You make your way over to the door and hit the control to open it. With a faint hiss the door slides open, and you move out into the corridor of the ship. "Gangway!" someone behind you calls, and an instant later Vincent sails past, catching himself on a handhold on the ceiling.

No Dachi swears vehemently before slamming the coms button for the battlecruiser.

"Commodore, you saw the size of that hole in my cargo hold, if something even hits close to that then it'll breech and everyone in that cargo hold is doomed. That is a cargo hold full of Commonwealth troops from Earth. To you seriously mean to tell me that you want this clunky, crippled, demilitarised destroyer to go back into that maelstrom and start fighting fully armed military ships?!"

ooc: Walking stick = floating stick, to stop my leg from hitting things that will hurt it.

He grabs a handhold on the ceiling with his stick, pulls himself up to it, and sort of swings himself through the door and then he just pushes himself along with his stick.*

awaiting the response she activates the Weapons on the WAVE, cause anything pursing the APC cannot be good.

With a hefty sigh she looks at the sensors and wounders what is in the Secret Box (IE what is going to pop up next )

she then sees the man in the APC looking at her quizically, she obvioulsy did not turn the Loudspeaker off as she Sighed.

"Damnit John, your not going alone." Hudre sighs as he looks at his functionless arm."I'm coming."

On feeling the cool air rush back into the cargo hold, i take off my mask, and take several deep breaths...... wondering what is going to happen next.

I ask the man that showed me where the sealant was if there is anything else that i could perhaps do, or are there any other areas of the ship that need repairing!

*Dave looks as the light turns green and sighs a sigh of relief. He then floats up behind Ralph and pushes him*

"This is Commodore Lee. I cannot say much on an unsecure, open channel, but the simple answer is yes. If it means saving the shuttle, I am willing to risk everything up to and including the Illustrious. Those are my orders, and if you have any love for the Commonwealth you will help me carry out those orders, or die trying. Lee out."

Both you and Vincent seem to be the only ones in the corridor at the moment, at least until a crewman comes clomping along on the floor, wearing a set of special boots: magnetic boots. "Are you two authorized to be here?" The man asks, then takes one look at your police uniforms and frowns. "I guess not. Well, I suppose you guys are some of the refugees we've picked up. You need anything?"

"Aye sir. We've just gotten another request from another WAVE . . . I will direct both of them to head to the cargo airlock."
The crewman reports, while the Helmsman acknowledges your orders to turn around, and head back into the maelstrom of firepower that was now being exchanged between the Majestic and Commonwealth ships.

The man listens attentively, then raises the loud speaker back up to his mouth. "Well ma'am, I'm Private 2nd Class Johnson. Victor . . . he told me to come here in case . . . he didn't . . ." the man breaks off with a shrug, obviously at war with his own emotions. A light flashes red on your console as your sensors pick up three vehicles heading this way: three jeeps judging by the speed of the contacts and their mass.

Hudre

"Knew you had it in ya for a last stand." John said, powering up his WAVE. He is silent for a second, then says, "Just got word from the ship's bridge . . . we're supposed to exit out of the cargo airlock, which is . . . just ahead and to the right of us." John said, throttling his WAVE into a slow walk, careful to avoid stepping on any of the packed-in evacuees. The evacuees were just as careful to stay out of the WAVE's path.

Terra

The man shrugs, and replies, "Usually we just seal off the areas if it’s a pretty bad breach, hopefully leaving no one trapped inside, but if they are . . ." The man shrugs apologetically again. "Of course, we couldn’t really just let this place open to vacuum to be patched later, eh? In any case, don't worry about the other parts of the ship. I get the feeling things are going to get a bit bumpier, but if we survive, things should calm down nicely once we are on our way to Mars."

Crazyboy

Ralph goes spinning into a nearby bulkhead, shouting "What the -" he is cut off as he impacts against the bulkhead, the air being slammed out of his lungs. You also slam backward into a bulkhead opposite of Ralph, although you don't hit quite as hard. However, Ralph seems to know how has pushed him, because a few moments later, he has caught his breath, and pushes off to fly toward you like a bullet. "I'm going to get you, you cheap ******." He snarls.

*Dave laughs histrecially at Ralph*

"Come and get meh!! See if you can fly as well as you can in your gunship"

*Dave pushes off from the bulkhead and goes flying away from Ralph*

"What have you "got", that would be an appropriate answer to that question?"

OK, guess we'd better help them out. Is there any way we can get them to dock with us, then carry them out with us?

No Dachi growls a low, deep growl.

"Very well Commodore, we'll turn back and help you get this blasted shuttle of yours. Gunboat Diplomat out."

The Coms Officer closes the channel. No Dachi barks orders.

"Helm! Bring us round and head back into the fighting, keep us running low and fast. Primaries are to fire on the smaller Majestic ships that we've got a chance of hurting, point defense is to concentrate solely on protecting our injured side even if it means taking a few hits on the non injured side. Sensors, full scope, watch for incoming fire. Coms, open channel throughout the ship."

Officers: Aye sir.

Coms: Channel open.

"Attention all hands and passengers, we're taking an unexpected detour back into the fighting thanks to the sound judgement of a certain Commonwealth Officer. I'd ask all of you to return to the hold and secure yourselves as best you can because there's going to be some tight manouevreing going on one we get back into the battle. Captain No Dachi out."

*David hears the message.*

"Come, Vincent."

*David starts making his way to the hold.*

"Knew you had it in ya for a last stand." John said, powering up his WAVE. He is silent for a second, then says, "Just got word from the ship's bridge . . . we're supposed to exit out of the cargo airlock, which is . . . just ahead and to the right of us." John said, throttling his WAVE into a slow walk, careful to avoid stepping on any of the packed-in evacuees. The evacuees were just as careful to stay out of the WAVE's path.


Hudre goes to his comm "Damn your peer pressure John! Let's just go out there and do this." Hudre activates his WAVE, and looks grimly at his armour."Two WAVE's, Three functional arms, against pretty much a damn fleet. Well, it's easier than winning an argument with my wife." Hudre moves after John's WAVE.

Ralph kicks out as he nears the bulkhead that you pushed off of, timing it perfectly so that instead of spinning himself end over end, his toes graze the bulkhead and launch him around after you without stopping to push off again. Suddenly the cargo bay's loud speaker grumbles, "Attention all hands and passengers, we're taking an unexpected detour back into the fighting thanks to the sound judgement of a certain Commonwealth Officer. I'd ask all of you to return to the hold and secure yourselves as best you can because there's going to be some tight manouevreing going on one we get back into the battle. Captain No Dachi out."

The man is about to tell you when a nearby speaker delivers the news. "Hold on guys . . . I don't think you'll make it back in time. Follow me, I know a place we can reach in time where we can sit this out." The man then deactivates his mag boots and pushes off of the wall, so clearly speed is of the essence.

/ooc Who said anything about escaping? Actually, the different classes of ships move at different speeds (ofc ). So, the fleet is limited to the speed of its biggest and slowest ship. The Commonwealth ships are desperate, so they'll push their engines a bit, plus any ships seriously damaged will stay behind to fight a stalling actions. Any volunteers? ooc/

"I'm not entirely sure, sir . . . but I think it may, MAY be possible to use the main airlock as a makeshift docking collar." the ship suddenly lurches as a string of rockets slam into it. "Well, we seems to have attracted some of their attention!" the Gunner reports, swinging the PDLs are to combat this new danger to the ship.

No Dachi

There is a chorus of "Yes sir!", and your crew work together as the highly efficient team you know them to be. The ship swings around and begins heading back toward the "furball" that has developed around the Commonwealth shuttle. "Estimate the shuttle's ETA to be five minutes with the Illustrious, sir."
"Sir, perhaps we could move alongside the Illustrious, and let them cover our wounded side?"

Hudre

"Heh." is John's only response, and two minutes later you are both outsides the ship. Maneuvering Booster Reserve: 98%the console flashes. The WAVE now handles like a gunship, only slower in speed. Your targetting sensors report that there's about fifteen enemy gunships buzzing about the shuttle, along with three WAVEs. A Majestic shuttle is also incoming, no doubt packed with Majestic troops.

Lady Hawk

"We were just about to fall back when Victor took a couple in the chest. He took us to go, and that he would recover us. As we fell back, I heard Victor firing almost constantly, then several other bursts of gunfire, and Victor's weapon fall silent. I think he's dead . . . he almost certainly would be with those wounds."
As Johnson mentions how Victor died you cannot help thinking about Candice and if she is alright. Noticing that there are three jeeps approaching, you warn Johnson. "Nah, we'll stay and fight as well. We've got a surprise for them." he said, climbing out of the APC fully. He claps his hands and reaches down into the APC, and re-emerges with a rocket launcher cradled in his arms. "Alright, I'm going to deploy my troops into an "ambush" formation. You just walk out there and kill stuff." Johnson said, directing the powered infantrymen that were pouring out of the APC with hand signals.
