If I remember correctly, Earthworm Jim was forced for quite some time to use said character map due to his keyboard being broken.
Nasty silences when having a friendly irc conversation.

I use StrokeIt* for the rest of Windows too.
*A mouse gesture proggy you can program to do pretty much whatever the **** you want, google it

It's faster loading, takes less screen space, doesn't suffer from that crappy tab bollocks Opera likes by default, is supported by more web-pages, doesn't have as many stupid rendering problems, doesn't suffer from frigging memory leaks if you leave it open more than eighteen seconds, doesn't have adverts in it all over the ****ing show, is free, links in nicely with MSN Messenger, 'etc'.
