KAKNA STAR SYSTEM

A blue dwarf star

was origginall a NSC base - was one of the original frontier bases a long time ago - it was chosen by the NSC because most of the planets are Gas Giants and form a ready source of fuel. Also with it being far off the beaten track it also was used as a staging point for one of the many NSC STARMARDAS.

KAKNA I - Nearest the sun is a barren rock - here can be found the BASE and the fueling stations and also the repair facility.

KAKNA II - Gas Giant the size of Jupiter - 106 moons most are just small asteroids the size of the USA that have been caught in the planets gravity

KAKNA III - Gas Giant - 305 Moons - this planet is 6 times the size of saturn and has over 2500 planetary rings - scans indicate that 36 of the moons can hold life and there are life signs and also a high tech civilization.

KAKNA IV - Gas Giant - no moons - this is the size of neptune


TO - bringing data up sir - that was a New Systems Commonwealth Base many years ago - it had repair facilities and fueling stations.

SO - KAKNA is a blue dwarf system sir - only 4 planets

SO - we cvannot deep scan that ship sir - it has an uknown configuration and our scans cannot penertrate the shields

b)continual scan of the sector for incoming ships
c)detail tactical analysis of the nebula and spinner system, to plan a run for it.
d)solar activity of the nearest sun (kakna) and tactical info on the sun and the system

2) have the engineers work on the targeting system, shield regeneration and the ssd devices.

3)recharging of all weapons (3rd post)

4) message the troth to follow us toward the station but keep 1 light second away, and ready to run if hostile move.

5)message Dangerfield to get info from station data base and secure the station.

6)have the rear shield power divert to front , to boost them.secure all fighters back to the ship and begin repair on the 2 burning runabout when possible.

lady hawk.. have you taken notice of the ship upgrade i made? is it approuved? and i need a comparative power/range ability of the following weapons so i can best judge whicjh weapon i ll put on my ship..

Crimshaw looked at the screen, the station closing while in the far distance , the peacekeeper cruiser sat immobile like a hawk.

"ready to dock sir!" said helen from the navigation

"proceed! have the docking claps ready for fast blow out if an emergency comes" said the captain

"anchors locking sir! we re docked" came the reply from the helm

"ok ppls let s replenish our weapons and use the station facilities the help repair the ship" said Crimshaw.

"green, keep an eye on the cruiser.. we ll start upgrading the ship, if the cruiser start moving here.. sound red alert and and recall all personel, i m going on the station to supervise the repair " said the captain.

"Redgrave , you re with me" he continued.

as both 1st officer and the captain walk into the station, they were greeted by the marine.. dutifully loading torpedo refill and replacing some of the ships weapons.. assisted by the engeneers.

after a few hours of hard work , the Black Dagger newly install weapons and armor gleam a stark black and is ready to face the universe once more (to be approved by lh)

first question - i think the reply'll be "try and find out". that's the reply she's given most of us i think.

and secondly, it's either 15 fighters left or destroyed, don't know if that particular number counted down or up during the dm-ings. if it counted up, it's the number of fighters destroyed, if it counted down, it's the number of fighters left. the rest most likely are destroyed.

MC – “Understood sir. MC out.”

Fluffie groans softly – the stimulants were beginning to fade already – and slowly and carefully walks over to a clear stretch of wall, leaning against it and then softly sliding down into an eased sitting position. Seeing most of the Marines leave the bridge and beginning their sweep and map making of the ship, some remain – amongst of them one as a bodyguard/heavy lifter for Fluffie’s personal use. As they take up positions and begin their guard duty, there is only some chatter; so to say, not much. They were still serious about their job and Fluffie kind of appriciated this, with himself not being all that combat capable anymore.

Laying his rifle aside, he fiddles with some buttons and his comms unit and opens a channel to the bridge of his ship, The Outsider.

“Warren, you there?”

No. 1 – “Does this mean I don’t get to keep The Outsider?”

“Sorry man. These bugs can’t kill me, I’m like – superior.”

Very childish-ly, both men chuckle and if one were to listen closely, one would hear the WO chuckle along.

“Lets get serious though... I have some orders.”

Warren (who, still, is the No. 1) – “I’d be suprised if you didn’t have some to be honest.”

“True. The Marines are currently holding three key areas; the airlock, bridge and engineering. The ones not occupied with guarding these areas are sweeping the rest of the ship, securing her and making a basic map of the ship as they do so. This’ll make our work on it easier later on. As soon as the ship has been secured, I want you to dock and then I want science and engineering teams on it, examining every detail of it. Have our SO oversee them, the MC will provide security forces. The wounded and myself will find our way to med bay, so don’t worry about that. And... Also begin basic repairs on The Outsider, but nothing drastic or expensive yet – I’m still considering an upgrade or maybe some sort of hybrid...”

No. 1 – “You think the universe is ready yet for such powers at your disposal, sir?”

“Perhaps. We’ll just have to see and find out. But I need a full blue print and status report of this ship before I can make any decisions, so first things first.”

No. 1 – “Right. Any further orders?”

“Yah. If there are any prisoners, you and the MC are to question them. I want to know any and everything they know. Don’t really care how you get it out of them. If there is anyone important aboard, maybe keep them alive for hostage purposes.”

No. 1 – “I’ll leave the EO in charge of beginning repairs then. What do you want to do with the two Police Cruisers?”

“Tell them to begin repairs, maybe tow the science vessel if it needs help. We should be fine for the moment.”

No. 1 – “Right.”

“That’s that then. I’ll wait for the ships to dock and then I’ll be back on the bridge as soon as the doc is through with me. Fluffie out.”

No. 1 – “Copy that. Outsider out.”


The Outsider – bridge
No. 1 – “Alright, you heard the man. SO prepare your teams, EO continue with the repairs here. Helm, continue orbitting the Chrono Borg ship and prepare to dock once we get the signal.”

Helm, EO, SO – “Aye aye.”

No. 1 – “Comms, thank the Police Cruisers and ask if they’d be as kind to aid our companion, would you?”

Comms – “Certainly.”

Warren then taps a button, linking in with the med bay.

Warren – “Doc, you there?”

MD – “I’m here bridge. What’s our status?”

Warren – “The ship is under our control, it’s being secured by the Marines as we speak.”

MD – “Good to hear. Any wounded? What about the captain?”

Warren – “As soon as we dock, they will report in to the med bay...”

MD – “I’ll have some men ready at the airlock then, in case any need immidiate help.”

Warren – “As you please. Also, I might have a request for you...”

MD – “You might?”

Warren – “It depends on if there are any surviving Insectid.”

MD – “I know what you mean. It’s against my oath to provide drugs for... that sort of thing.”

Warren – “I know.”

MD – “But if I don’t help you, you will come down to the Med Bay and take what you think is the right stuff, which might be horribly wrong...”

Warren – “Exactly.”

MD – “I see. I have one condition though.”

Warren – “Name it.”

MD – “If it’s needed, I’ll have someone ready with the appropriate... injections. But he’ll also have a first aid kit with him.”

Warren – “Understandable. If I need your man, I will inform you. I’ll also let you know when we are about to dock, so you can have your teams at the ready.”

MD – “Thanks. Med Bay out.”

Then Warren leans back, continueing to enjoy every moment in the Captain's Chair. It was a nice chair. His Captain sure had a good taste when it came to Captain's Chairs. Warren probably couldn't have done it better himself. Sighing a nice, enjoyed sigh, he relaxes and listens to various reports as the whole situation steadily, easily and calmfully unfolds. The rush was over so now it was time to... relax a bit.


Summary
- Onboard the Chrono Borg ship the Marines post guards at the bridge, engineering and the airlock.
- The Chrono Borg ship is checked thoroughly by the Marines, “removing” or capturing any remaining alive and loose Insectid.
- If there are living Insectid, they are rounded up in an empty cargohold under heavy security. The MC and No. 1 will interrogate these Insectid seperately, with the help of any subtle and less subtle techniques they know. (And although there will be a medically trained crewmember with them equipped with certain drugs that might help the interrogation, only the Insectid that have any hostage value are to be treated with enough care to keep them alive. (This does not mean they are going to intentionally kill any of the other Insectid, but they’re not going to be that careful either.))

- As soon as the Chrono Borg ship has been secured, The Outsider will dock with it. Then, being guarded by Marines (who continue to guard the bridge, engineering and airlock), engineering and science crewmembers under the supervision will begin thoroughly examining and mapping and blue printing the Chrono Borg ship, with help of the earlier created Marine maps (for extra efficiency ).
- When the two ships dock, any wounded Marines (and Fluffie) will report to Med Bay.
(- Once done in Med Bay, Fluffie will return to the bridge of The Outsider to oversee whatever is still going on at that moment.)

- The EO continues to oversee the continueing repairs onboard The Outsider, but the ship won’t dock with the ‘yards yet and there won’t be any credits spent on intensive repairs yet. All that can be repaired as if they were in deep space all alone, will be repaired.

- The two Police Cruisers are thanked from the bottom of the Comms’ heart and are then asked if they can report to Kama to tow him to the ‘yards or start orbitting it or something. If Kama doesn’t reply (‘cause he might be sleeping) they will continue bothering him until he wakes up (or something ).

"Prepare a damage report, note the casualties and I'll prepare a statement to transmit to Ankaa. We've made it this far, but if there's much more like it in true Borg space we'll have some hurdles to jump *muttering about legs before slumping back into his chair once more*

No1: "Sheila is almost done with those. They should allow us to safely navigate the coming asteroid storm."

Burnham: "Even so, I want all ships to shut down the power to all non-essential systems. As for the superweapons; do not charge until we've left the storm and are engaging in battle. It's better to be safe than sorry."

No1: "Yes, I quite agree. I'll take care of it. Letice has studied the scans and he, I mean, she, thinks we should surf the asteroid storm in such a way that it brings us close to the carriers and that we should then direct all our firepower at the two carriers. They are only lightly armed and shielded and won't last long if both captain Killer's forces and ours pound away on them. With any luck, we can disable them before they are able to launch too many fighters. Also, if we manage to capture them, we could use them against the cruisers and turn the odds so that they favour us.

Burnham: "Won't that be overkill?"

No1: "Possibly, but if those carriers manage to launch we'll be in for a very rough ride and lie you just said; it's better to be safe than sorry."

* Lisa smiled and Dr. Burnham nodded and took a closer look at the scanning reports.

Burnham: "It says here that those cruisers have cloaking devices?"

No1: "Yes, that is correct."

Burnham: "Well, in that case I want all ships to perform an active scan of the system. I want to be sure there aren't any additional ships that are as yet undetected. After all, it's beter to be safe than sorry, don't you agree?"

No1: "Heh. I'll make sure Larry does the scans. Is there anything else you want done?"

Burnham: "Yes. Keep all the fighter pilots on alert, but do not launch any fighters until I give the order. Also, keep the AFD and AMD systems fully activated. Should the enemy carriers be able to launch any fighters, they are to be shot immediately before they can become a threat. Finally, send a message to captain Killer and inform him of our plan and ask if he'll be so good as to take care of the other carrier."

No1: "Consider it done."

Burnham: "Come on let's go to the bridge."

ACTIONS:

- Make suggested modifciations to the shields on all ships in order to safely navigate the ateroid storm.
- Shut down power to all non-essential systems (on all ships) in order to minimise the chances of something going wrong while surfing the storm.
- Do not charge superweapons until we have left the storm and are engaging the enemy in battle.
- Try to surf the storm in such a way that we 'land' close to the two carriers and when we do, concentrate all firepower on one of the carriers in an effort to disable them.
- As soon as we reach our destination, charge the superweapons and do a series of active scans to eliminate the possiblity of more cloaked ships.
- Keep the fighters on standby (no launch yet, but they are prepared to).
- AMD and in particular AFD systems are directed towards the carrier and any enemy fighters that are launched are dealt with immediately.
- Inform captain Killer of "THE PLAN".

"This is the captain. We are answering a distress signal from a KIPIRE convoy. They are under attack from two escort carriers and are requesting assistance. We must assume that the attackers are hostile to us as well as the convoy, everyone get to your battle stations. This is our first major engagement, make me proud.""

"Sir," the Tactical Officer turned to him. "What if it's a trap? Priates and Brigands are well known for that."

"Damn you might be right..."

Dras looked around his senior officers.

"A vote, I don't want us going into a trap without you lot knowing and accepting that it could be one. Well?"

The officers voiced their opinions. Only the XO voted against it.

"Ok then, we go." Dras Grinned. "I want the Fighters ready to launch. Use the autopilots, link them into the control desks, put our best two pilots in those two desks. They'll be safer in the main ship than directly controling the fighters. Power up one neutron shield and the Kinetic Shield. Put the other two shields on standby. If they drop below 50% I want them swapped."

He paused

"Bring us out at long range, I want to give them a chance to give in and us one to asses the situation."

Captain Mekuhn addressed the ship again.

"Good luck everyone. Yellow Alert. Battle Stations."

Comms: "Sir, Capt Buck on the horn as requested."

Capt Star: "On Screen."

Capt Buck: "Ah yes, we were having trouble unscrambling the static in that transmission, it sounded like pure gibberish to the Comms officer. Anyway, Aye Sir, we'll charge the Linear Drive and tie our helm into your nav computer."

*Capt Buck signals her bridge crew and they get to work with a chorus of "Aye"'s and "Aye Captain"'s*

Capt Buck: "If thats all Nick, i'll see to things on this end."

Capt Star: "Ok Alex, Nick out."

Comms: "Transmission Ended."

Helm: "Linear Drive charged Sir, tieing in with The Flyer's helm now."

Capt Star: "Right, TO, ready the weapons, we can expect hostile contact at the other end, so I want us to be ready. Comms, make an announcement to the ship, Set Condition 1, all Fighter Pilots make ready to launch."

TO and Comms: "Aye Sir."

Helm: "Sir, we have a destination solution, relaying to The Flyer now... Soultion recieved, we're ready to go Sir."

*From his seat Capt Star looks at his bridge crew and then at the helmsman*

Capt Star: "Make it so."

*The Linear Drives of both ships light-up and then dim, The two ships accelerate together until finally, a flash occurs and the two ships are gone.*

The helmsman turned back to his console and informed the fighter pilots to launch.

Pilots over comlinks:"Launching now."

"Right, Battle-Lasers, they've got the longest range. The carriers have got phase shields but we havn't got any solid weaponry bar the AMDIII, so we'll have to make do. Lets just hope that the other captain has something."

Dras turned away from his crew pondering something.

"Charge the battle-lasers and open fire if we get in range, try to keep avoiding as many hits as possible, open a channel to the other ship, we need to talk."

Dras mulled things over, if he could get close enough to the enamy ships, right ontop of them, he could open up with everything. Together with the other ships he would have the overwhelming firepower, and at that close range the enamy fighters might be risking hitting their carrier.

"Damn it. Delay those orders... no keep the fighters out there. Just open me up a channel to the other captain, and quickly man. We need to save that convoy."

The coms opened the channel.

"This is captain Dras Mekuhn of the frigate Starlance. I request your assistance in disposing of these vermin. We're not very experienced and would appreciate any help, both tactical and physical, that we can get our hands on. Mekuhn out."

The crew turned to him expectantly.

"Well? Don't sit there. Charge weapons, raise shields, and repeat that bloody transmission."

Capt Star: "TO, as soon as you have a firing sollution fire at will. Comms as soon as the wave colapses get those fighters off the ship, I want them ready for enemy fighter contact."

Comms and TO: "Aye Sir."

Helm: "Linear Wave Colapse imminent..."

An incereacing sensation of decceleration accompanies the final colapse of the Linear Wave, the two ships appearing in twin flashes of light as they fall bellow lightspeed.

Helm: "And were back in real space. Inertial Dampeners need tweaking..."

SO: "Recieving telemetry on the enemy ships sir. Two Ripper Class Escort Carriers, Four Quad Blasters and Eight Twin Blasters, Two Cruise Missile Launchers and to top it off, Three Phase Shields and Fifty Alpha Class Fighters... this should be interesting..."

Comms: "Fighters away sir, the Flyer is following suit, all fighters forming up on our ships..."

Capt Star: "Hows that firing solution coming Frank?"

TO: "The Hellbore Cannon is at full power, Plasma Cannons at 83% and rising. Torpedos armed and loaded. Just waiting on the Tac Computer Sir.... .... Solution recieved, relaying to the Flyer... Charging Complete, opening fire... first salvo away, switching power to the shields and recharging weapons..."

Comms: "Incoming transmission sir, its the other captain Sir and its repeating....."

Capt Star: "Well don't just sit there, play it on audio!"

Comms: "Opps.. Sorry Sir... playing transmission now"

The bridge of the Fugitive goes silent as the audio messages is played through the bridge speakers...

"This is captain Dras Mekuhn of the frigate Starlance. I request your assistance in disposing of these vermin. We're not very experienced and would appreciate any help, both tactical and physical, that we can get our hands on. Mekuhn out."

Comms: "Thats it sir, it just repeats after that..."

No1: "Well thats odd, it sounds like this is thier first Pirate engagement, not many captains without Pirate experiance these days..."

Comms: "Aye Sir, comm channel open..."

Capt Star: "This is Captain Star of the SSC Fugitive, we and the SSC Flyer have come to provide assistance. Our Tactical Officer can liaise with yours and provide the assistance you have requested. And a personal request from my Comms officer, please turn that repeating message off, she complaining off a headache... Captain Star, out."

Comms: "Message sent sir, and thanks, listening to a repeating message does get on my nerves..."

Capt Star: "Indeed.. now open a general channel, I want to address those there pirates..."

Comms: "Aye Sir, channel open."

Capt Star: "This is the SSC Fugitive to the unidentified escort carriers. You are out numbered, take this oppertunity to surrender, conditionally or not, as there will be no time for surrender later..."

The shipyard's viewing deck was empty at this late hour, the only people on it was a couple, more intent on studying each others anatomy than the vessels that lay in the docks. Shadow watched with a certain amount of amusement as the LED ship sign was installed onto the side of his ship, the electricity crackled through the leads as the sign powered on "A Quick Drop and a Sudden Stop " started glowing in the darkness.

His terminal vibrated in his top pocket.

"Sir, the ship is ready" it announced in a feminine voice.

"I am aware, no1, I want out of this station as soon as physically possible"

"Affirmative sir, we're just loading the last of the supplies now"

He flicked the device off and stood. The couple in the corner were already in a partial state of undress as there desires flared, Shadow looked over disapprovingly and left.

If such a thing had a mind and a will, this one would have been set on pure, unadulterated chaos and destruction. But such things don't have minds and wills, they are what nature made of them. The reactor flared again, the small fire becoming bigger, feeding the systems of the ship with more and more energy as the eternal fire burned within the reactor's core.

"Singularity to 20%, inform flight control that we're undocking and request clearance."

"Aye sir" the ensign tapped commands into the computer panel.

The massive clamps released themselves from the ships hardpoints with a decidedly relieved sigh, they retracted into their housings and enjoyed a well deserved rest as the vessel departed under extremely low power. The 'Quick Drop' recieved clearance to depart, wished a good journey by the fleet of commanders in Flight Control as its Transwarp drive explosively accelerated the ship into transwarp.

"Sensors, have we passed the shipyards sensors maximum range yet?"

"Yes sir, we breeched it approximately 2 minutes ago, they've lost sight of us now"

"Good," Shadow replied, "You know what to do."

If anyone happened to be within sensor range of the vessel now plowing through transwarp, they would have noticed something very weird. The ship's FoF (Friend or Foe) beacon suddenly going offline along with the mutation of its SDT (Ship designation transmitter) suddenly switching from 'A Quick Drop and a Sudden Stop' to 'A Lovers Searing Kiss'. They'd probably think it was a sensor malfunction, they might report it to engineering and think nothing else of it.

"Sir, we're approaching the Merchants location, what are your order?"

"Drop us out of warp just after they are within sensor range, then immediately engage the cloaking device provided engineering are finished hooking it up to the Transwarp drive, after that I want you to carefully, and I mean carefully push forwardly slowly toward the offending vessels and stop when we get within our optimal weapon range. But, and I must stress this, do NOT allow us to be discovered."

"Aye sir"

The craft left warp quietly, the cloaking device powering on, hiding them from prying eyes as it scoped out the battlefield. The Starlance had already arrived on the scene, preparing itself for the up and coming battle as it launched its fighters and charged its weapons. As well as The Fugitive, popping out from lightspeed and already engaging the Carriers.

"Sir, we're received outgoing transmissions from the Starlance and the Fugitive, putting it on loudspeaker"

"This is captain Dras Mekuhn of the frigate Starlance. I request your assistance in disposing of these vermin. We're not very experienced and would appreciate any help, both tactical and physical, that we can get our hands on. Mekuhn out."

"This is Captain Star of the SSC Fugitive, we and the SSC Flyer have come to provide assistance. Our Tactical Officer can liaise with yours and provide the assistance you have requested. And a personal request from my Comms officer, please turn that repeating message off, she complaining off a headache... Captain Star, out."

Shadow smiled, "Interesting, can I assume they haven't noticed us just yet?"

"Not that I am aware of, sir."

"Good, good" Shadow touched an armory inventory screen, "I want one of the engineers to prepare two Cobalt mines, remote controlled detonation and have them ready to launch it on my command."

A husky chief engineer, barely over 4 feet tall, his yellowing crooked teeth showing as he smiled at Shadow.

"Aye sir, preparing a small delivery for our....friends."

He spat his chewing tobacco into a nearby trash can, sniffed and left for engineering.

2. Warp away from Spaceport to Merchants location.
3. Midflight, disable Friend or Foe beacon, alter Ship ident to 'A Lovers Searing Kiss' (If allowed)
4. Exit Transwarp when the vessels are just within my vessels maximum sensor radius.
5. Activate cloaking device on exit from warp (Or just before leaving warp, whichever way is best and/or possible)
6. Go Silent running.
7. Engage sublight drives, begin to carefully get into optimal weapon range of offending vessels
8. Recieved Transmission from The Starlance and The Fugitive
9. Ordered Two Cobalt mines for alteration from engineering crew.

Cid looked at the massive Death-Star suddenly appear onto the holomap, dominating a good portion of whatever space he was looking at. He zoomed out a couple of times until it was within a decent veiwability range.

Cid: Okay, that is one hell of a starbase... hopefully we wont have to get too close to it before it's weapons are fully functioning and charged.
No1: We might not be so lucky, sir.
Cid: Continue as planned, we should reach the fleet undetected.
SO: We have reached maximum range, sir.
TO: Sir, we cannot ride the asteroid storm any further, this is our stop.
No1: Shall we open fire now?
Cid: Fire the Gripstar's PHC at the first carrier's launching bays. Fire the two Fusion Cannons from the Hope directly into the launching bays as well as all ten battle lasers and all ten gattling lasers from the Rising. I want all thier fighters destroyed before they can launch, or at least knock their numbers down.
WO: Aye sir!

Cid stood up and began to circle the holomap.

Cid: FTL drives are to relocate their power and reinforce the forward sheilding arrays, keep a nice pace forward. We are outnumbered in total, but if we can knock these carriers down now it wass make the job a lot easier later on!
No1: What about the cruisers, sir? We cannot possibly charge into them, that Deathstar is waiting for us to do that.
Cid: We lure them out, of course, to keep out of that Deathstar's range. In the meantime we concentrate on those carriers!

Dras:"Lock the battle-lasers on the nearest carrier, and fire a warning shot, let them know we're serious... Oh... and low power only, let them make the first truly offensive move."

TO:"Sir?"

Dras:"Oh yes, open a channel to the Fugitive and let our two tactial geniouses here dicuss tactics."

TO:"This is the Starlance's tactical officer. The enamy ships have only phase shields so any solid ammunition weapons should cause them some amount of damage, we only posses AMDIIIs so we're not too well equiped for this. But if we were to engage them at point blank range then we could open up with everything, including the AMDs, and even our BHG. We could jump in close range with our warp drives, possibly at that range the enamy fighters may be risking hitting their own ships, and we can jump out again straight away if need be. What do you think?"

TO: "To the Tactical Officer on the Starlance, this is TO Frank Gardner onboard the SSC Fugitive. I percieve a number of hole in your plan. One. Jumping into close range of either of the enemy ships puts yourself at great risk, their armerments would put you out of buissness in very short order. Two. Phase Shields have no specific stength or weakness, but are generally good all round shields, my advice would to just open up all weapons at a safe distance. Also we are transmiting tactical data, valuable to most people, priceless to the new."

Comms: "Message sent, tactical data transfer awaiting conformation."

Capt Star: "Right, Just how much data are we sending them Frank?"

TO: "Enough to keep them occupied Sir, at least until we know enough about thier ship that we can disable it at will... the transmission is also unencrypted, anyone listening in will also automatically recieve our package...!

Capt Star: "Heheheh... hopefully those pirates will jump on that transmission like moths to a lamp..."

*As the Praetonians closed on the cargo vessels, the wounded Wanderer came about and closed in on one of the Praetonian destroyers. She was leaving a trail of debris in her wake, bleeding like a wounded animal. But at the same time she was getting ready to bear her teeth again. A full on charge. Just like a wounded wild animal.

WO: I've got a lock... missiles away! Guns aways! Frikken kitchen sink away!

*Once again the batteries and launchers of Wanderer fired. But this time they were all concentrated on a single target and they had been given the luxury of a weapons lock. Bent downwards the forward arc AFD and AMD took aim and added their small stream of rapid fire to the powerful blasts of the mighty Photon cannons and destablising Ion cannon. Over the control tower the last load of gravatic missiles flew overhead, 48 missiles homing in on their painted target.........*

Junior-TO: She's trying to dodge!

*As soon as the weapons lock from the Wanderer took hold, the Praetonian AI knew something was up. Almost immediately, the menacing purple ship chasing Coppitt 2 bucked up it's nose in readiness to lift itself around... it was about then when the rusty cruiser's weapons package knocked her into next week. The first blow came from above, an uppercut of explosive quad beamy power and electrostatic goodness. Initally intended for the guts of the ship, the AI's move meant the Praetonian took it full in the face instead. Completely blindsided, she was now completely unprepared for the approaching left hook.*

*Just having been knocked back by the mixed energy barrage, the swarm of gravatic missiles could not have come at a better time. The movement had forced the missiles to alter course slightly, but they remained on target thanks to the all important weapons lock. As the batteries hit from above, the missiles hit from below exploding all over the forward bottom-half of their target.*

*It was all too much for the nimble destroyer.*

*Under the power of the two attacks the guardship foundered. The sheer forces involved placed huge stresses on the enemies ion-affected shields, causing large power surges to rip through the vessel. Overheated systems exploded all throughout the ship sending panels and shrapnel flying both inside and out. There was an explosion in the engine room as a number of fires joined as one and became uncontrollable. They were now losing power at an alarming rate.*

WO: WOOHOO!!! Oh yeah, take that you sons of bitches. Feed on that can-o-whoop-ass.

Junior-SO: Um... wow. You missed the engine block yet you've managed to cook it anyway... again, wow.

Junior-TO: They're sitting ducks... sir?

WO: *grins evily*

Hewitt: Jack.

WO: Yes?

Hewitt: All cannons. All auxilleries. Straight through the bridge. When you're ready.

WO: Hoooo yes... *grins evilier*

Junior-TO: Sir. The target is not trying to pull away, if anything it appears as if they are turning to engage us. Coppitt 2 also appears to be altering course...

*Limping painfully slow and trailing endless plumes of smoke and debris, the wounded Praetonian defiantely turns to face the Wanderer. Like a fatally-wounded soldier looking for an honorable death, it makes it's stand prepared to die for it's righteous cause. Off in the distance her previous prey, the cargo merchant vessel Coppitt 2, steadies herself now that the immediate danger has passed. She performs an almost complete turnabout and heads towards it's partner, Coppitt 1 intentions unknown to those onboard the Wanderer*

WO: Cannons ready, lasers ready, point-defense guns ready.

Hewitt: ...Fire.

*And so, staring into the face of it's foe does the first brigand-class ship falter and die. Cutting through the weakened shields and into the bridge area, Wanderer's energy weapons lance deep into the bowels of the dying vessel before impacting with the damaged impulse power core...*

*The resulting explosion is so terrific, anyone watching is forced to shield their eyes.*

McGanis: Come on, come on! Work faster damnit! Those bastards are nearly on us!

*The intimidating merchant captain hollered continously at the frantic crowd of workers hurrying to assemble the quickly thought up setup. McGanis was close to biting his nails. The ships 2IC was up in the bridge relaying continous status reports while the EO jumped between the vital control link up for his monstrous creation and yelling out extremities that were supposed to be interpreted by those below as instructions. Things WERE coming to shape however, a somewhat surprising achievement given the layabout nature of your average merchant crew.*

2IC: Sir! Wanderer just nailed bandit one. Scattered the damned thing all over the place... Tommy's seeing spots the flash was that bright.

McGanis: Thank **** for that. I was beginning to wonder if these bums were worth any cop.

*Suddenly the EO comes running up to the merchant captain, his face all hot and sweaty.*

EO: *pants* Sir. We're ready to throw the switch on this thing.

McGanis: Well don't just stand there. Turn the bloody thing on then.

EO: Right... *gives the signal*

*The cargo bay area was now dominated by four stationary Concealment-class tanks with numerous wires and cables running off in random directions. The vehicles had been welded down onto a huge piece of prefabricated steel made from the various discarded containers. This in turn sat on motorised runners meant to move the whole platform into position as the cargo doors opened. The ships EO looked confident the whole thing would hold under vacuum... whether he actually was however, was anyones guess. Behind the whole setup, the bulk of the cargo that couldn't be moved to other bay areas had been pushed up back, secured with the help of more haphazard welding and leftover materials.*

*Down on the floor close to the platform, one of the ships engineering staff connected the main switch regulating the power input. In a matter of seconds, the four immoblised tanks began to hum omniously as their individual fusion generators powered up. The humming increased in pitch until a steady thrumming filled the small enclosed space.*

EO: Ok. No sparks. No explosions. Good. Now to see if the controls work...

*The EO hefted the slightly heavier modified PDA and stared at it sternly before pressing a seemingly random button. The four tanks instantly light up like christmas trees as there weapons systems were brought online. Grunting non-chantantly, the EO then proceeded to fiddle around with a small control stick crafted from a spare widget. In response, the turrets on each of the tanks moved back and forth in synch with one another. So far, so good.*

EO: Now... I'll just test the-

*Suddenly without warning the entire cargo bay was rocked by a tremedous blast. Everyone flailed about for something to hold onto as around them the main lighting faltered and died. Amongst the loudest of curses came from McGanis as an unseen foot came down heavily on his outstretched hand. It hurt so much it felt as if he could feel every single layer of skin tearing under the steel capped boot of the offender. In seconds that felt like hours, the emergency eventually kicked in - not soon enough to identify the clumsy oaf that needed a throttling however.*

2IC: The raider ship is at maximum firing range sir. We're trying to avoid them but they have a huge manuvering advantage over us. That, and Tommy's still half-blind from that pretty fireworks display earlier... at least that's what he's saying.

*McGanis curses again at the news. Too soon. Too early. Damnation. The cargo bay rocks again as if to confirm his thoughts. They had run out of time.*

McGanis: Alright everyone! Back to your stations! I want this bay clear of you sacks of shit NOW!

EO: B-But sir! I haven't had full time to- urk! *Is grabbed roughly by McGanis.*

McGanis: We don't have time for finetuning. Improvise dammit! *lets go of the EO*

EO: *sigh* Fine. But if there's some kind of critical fault that will result in a rather firey and explosive death I ain't gonna be held accountable.

*The EO hits another random button on the modified PDA as everyone in the bay area stops what they are doing and begin running for the exits. Warning klaxxons begin to go off as flashing hazard lights fill the darkened cargo bay, signally that the door is preparing to open. This makes everyone run even faster. As everyone is running for the exits another series of blasts rocks the ship heavily, causing most people to stumble and fall yet again. Up ahead, McGanis hears rather loud stream of angry words as he stumbles towards the nearest airlock.*

McGanis: Let's hope I still have a ship left after this bloody mess...

*McGanis waits for the last few stragglers to stumble through before running into the hallway and activating the airlock behind him. As the heavily metal doors slam shut, he turns and sets off at a fast pace, dodging fallen men as he sprints down the corridor. He reaches the bridge where the EO is already seated in his oil-stained chair, playing around with his hand-built controller.*

McGanis: Report damnit.

2IC: We're taking a pounding boss, shields over the forward hemisphere are already down to 75%-

*The bridge suddenly rocks under another barrage and a number of control panels explode at random send sparks and shrapnel firing.*

2IC: Make that 70%...

McGanis: Damnation, damnation! EO that blasted contraption in bay 3C better be working!

EO: The doors are opening up and the platform is moving forward captain. So far so good. I'll put 3C up on a viewscreen.

*To the left of McGanis a screen comes to life and shows the view from one of the internal security viewsensors stationed in cargo bay 3C. Rotating hazard lights provide the only illumination in the converted chamber now, filling the cargo bay with an eerie orange glow. Scattered junk and loose tools left behind by the fleeing crewman take flight, bouncing along the hard metal floor, off the armour of the mounted tanks until finally picking up speed and disappearing between the widing gap of the opening bay doors. Poorly oiled mechanics groan in protest as the huge metal doors edge further apart moving up and down respectively. But most important of all, the prefabricated steel platform holding the four immoblised tanks holds onto it's rails as it slides continuously closer to the opening bay doors.*

*McGanis grits his teeth as another solid hit rocks the bridge area.*

2IC: Shields are down to 65% and the ships drives are losing power. If we're gonna do this now would be a VERY good time.

McGanis: Tommy! Hard to port, now! Time to give these cretins some of their own back!

*From the view of the Praetonian destroyer, Coppitt 1 was looking to be an easy kill. She seems to have been abandoned by her escort, and now she was turning heavy to port. Some kind of malfunction perhaps. With the weakest part of the freighter's shields fully exposed to the purple raider, things were not looking good for McGanis.*

McGanis: Shit! We're wide open.

SO: What the? I've got incoming missiles!

*As the NSR ship lined up for the kill shot on Coppitt 1 a large barrage of missiles ranging from small fighter-killers to large cruiser-stoppers seemingly came from no where and smashed hard into her forward starboard section, knocking her briefly off course and definately catching everyone by surprise.*

McGanis: How in the hell?

Captain Rogers (onboard COPPITT 2): Come on boss, I thought you were good at this tricky shit.

McGanis: I'll reprimand you for breaking orders later.

Rogers: HEH.

*The unexpected arrival of a second assailant caused the Praetonian wolf to pause for just long enough. By the time the newest addition to Coppitt 1 was revealled it was too late for the elite NSR destroyer crew. The trap had been sprung and they were caught in the middle. The quad proton cannon setup gleamed menacingly, an alien apparition of death sticking out the side of a normally docile beast.*

McGanis: No one messes with McGanis! FIRE!

*Quad beams of proton energy burst forth from the battered Coppitt 1, intermingling with the plasma secondaries and striking the NSR destroyer head on. With shields already weakened by the missile barrage the unexpected broadside struck with devasting results. However, quick thinking by the raiders AAI helped get off a good solid weapon burst before the pummelling. As Coppitt 1's fire overloaded the advanced brigand-class vessel's systems the bulky freighter took some additional flak, with yet more hi-tech phaser fire raking her hull. One well aimed shot even managed to strike one of the mounted Concealment tanks, vaporising it completely. All in all, at the end of the engagement both ships shared equal amounts of damage.*

*Given that one ship was a hi-tech NSR destroyer of the elite praetonian guard and the other was a simple merchantman of even simpler merchants, equal damage was absolutely amazing.*

McGanis: ...I think the Praetonian's are slipping. There is no bloody way we should be alive right now.

Meanwhile, back on Wanderer...

Junior-SO: Sir, I'm picking up a strong signal from the debris. It's a beacon. Damn, and I just picked up a response. Short range... whoever it is they'll be here very soon.

Junior-TO: Reinforcements. Typical.

Hewitt: Looks like Mr Clark's ride is on it's way... Helm, take us towards that beacon.

Junior-Helm: Aye sir.

WO: But what about the other Praetonian captain? Don't you want me to smack 'em?

Hewitt: If you can get off another shot from the main batteries at this range Jack, then by all means do so. However, judging from our scopes it doesn't look like they need our help.

Junior-TO: Um... sir? Coppitt 1's engine is fried.

Hewitt: They'll live. SO, I want you to actively scan those contacts. No more surprises.

Junior-SO: Yes sir.

Hewitt: And keep an eye on Mr Clark. I'm not finished with him yet. EO, if we have any excess power I want it in our shields and Jack... keep those weapons charge ok?

WO: You got it.

EO: Yes... excess power to shields. Shields good.

Hewitt: Very good. One more thing... Comms.

Comm: Yes sir?

Hewitt:Let our friends know the last piece of purple meat is all theirs for the taking...

*Back on Coppitt 1 captain McGanis stands among the mess that is still trying to function as the main bridge. No real serious injuries yet - that was always a good sign - but deep down he was assessing the surrounding damage... the follow up repairs were going to be costly.*

Comms: Message from Wanderer sir. They're going off to investigate a beacon signal and possibly move to engage any reinforcements. We get to deal with purple here.

McGanis: Lovely. *spits* Are those cannons powered back up yet?

EO: Almost boss.

*Both Coppitt 1 and the remaining preatonian now practically drifted in the endless void facing off one another. Each was racing the other to see how fast one could get the dimmishing power supply to power up the weapons and fire first. Not that it mattered. Still closing in, Coppitt 2 unscathed and by now fully reloaded, took aim on the purple ship. She fired off another barrage of missiles just as her more battered compatriot let loose with her three remaining proton cannons. - Wanderer :- All excess power (if any) diverted to shields
- Wanderer :- Engineering personnel continue repairs where possible
- Wanderer :- Soldiers continue assisting medical staff
- Wanderer :- If in range, fire main batteries (4 Photon cannon, 1 Ion cannon) at the remaining Brigand-class ship.

- Coppitt 1 :- Engineering personnel focus repairs on engine bay (putting out fires included) - Note: EO absent due to focus on firing makeshift weapons

OOC: Well Nakartai, we're just roleplaying our crews an thier interactions, I don't think there is anything wrong with our posts. (I'm guessing thats what you are on about.) As far as I know, so long as we have Summeries to sum up our posts everything will be good... I hope...

On the note of what information im sending you, well... OOC i can tell you that it is basically a well hidden malicious computer program. It will eventually allow me access to your ships controls, but not to worry, it will take a while for it to get to that stage. In Game however, all you know about is that im sending you tactical data contining stratergies for combating supperior forces, defencive tactics used by my crew in the past, offensive tactics, you name it, it'll probably be avaliable for transfer.

Kama’s station, Med Bay
Fluffie snores. He is asleep! After having been patched up by some friendly people, the after-effects and his extreme occasional laziness set in, sending him off to the world of dreams, dreams filled with shiny Attack Concordats! Rarrr!

Somewhere else
Warren’s comm unit beeps. Being friendly as he is, he answers the call.

SO – “I couldn’t reach the cap’n so I guess I’ll tell you. I think that maybe if we access the Chrono Borg ship’s central core, we could download the data required for our mission from it. I guess the boys and girls from the other ship are more adept at it, so maybe we should ask some of them to come on over?”

Warren – “Sure. I’ll tell Comms to send the request. My guess is they’ll be on their way shortly. The EO and WO back on the bridge are in charge for now while the cap’n and I are... unavailable, ok?”

SO – “Unavailable?”

Warren – “We have some survivors. No. 1 out.”

Warren turns off the comms unit and looks at the MC and a random medical crew member, both standing by. With a grim face, he nods and the trio enters one out of five rooms, where the Insectid survivors were being kept, all seperate and alone.

Kama’s bridge
Kama – “I can dance!”

Being the idiot he is, Kama starts dancing around his bridge, too silly to be occupied with anything serious or important, ever.

That is, until, at least, some of his silly crew members mention a beeping thingy on a console somewhere, that had been beeping in an ever increasing fashion for quite some time now. Not at all sure why, one of the crew members taps the button and a message from The Outsider is played, requesting the personel necessary to download and examine the Chrono Borg’s central core for any relevant and interesting and funky information.

As the first team leaves, a second is assembled and leaves shortly there-after. Dancing their way to the core onboard the space station, they start working on that one, trying to see what kind of information is inside.

Summary
Fluffie sleeps.
Kama dances.
Fluffie’s No. 1, MC and a medical crew member start ”questioning” the five surviving Insectid (as described in my previous post).
Two teams are dispatched from Kama’s crew: One to study the Chrono Borg central core, the other to study the old Prime core aboard the space station.
(Somewhere in between the lines, Kama accepts the Crimson Fist mercenaries and thanks them for their help (and space station))

*Survey team dispatched to Borg computer core with Fluff-troops, while the rest of the science personel over on the space station look into decoding the PRIME datacore.

Plus use of previous money/christmas bonus credits/etc - begin construction of Kama's new monolith of scientific exploration

However requires Kama's share of the mission pay and sale/fitting of current ship before it can become opperational (around the 40-50k credits due) - To be put on hold if the Borg core plan falls through, Kama to operate out of Space Station during construction time.

as the improved Black Dagger weaponry and shields are finished installing , decisions must be taken.

should Captain Armstrong leave crews to manned the station?
what will the Peacekeeper cruiser do once the Black Dagger detach from the station?

Crimshaw poundered these and other questions as he walked back into the bridge..

what a sight it was now! with the addidition of the improve ai and improve tactical ai... now the Black Dagger could track and fire at 100 ships, it s new shield could take more hit, and the hull though less thick, was as sturdy as before. truly , all the crew and marines did an excellent job in refitting the ship. now , if only they could have found warp nacelles.. he smiled at the thought..

"all crews, this is the Captain, be ready for station separation, all marines are to board back the Black Dagger. we ll leave this area with the Troth in tow"

"Redgrave, take over boarding and separation procedures"

"hi sir! Should we destroy the Station, those in the peacekeeper cruiser may want to board it back!"

"Comm, message the Troth we re proceeding to our destination, unless they wish to upgrade their weapons and defense as well?"

"Helen, as soon as boarding is complete , take position 500 meter away from the station and move us to shield the Troth from incoming fire, if any"

"understood sir!" replied Pool

"Green, any more info from the Peacekeeper Cruiser sitting over there?"

"still scanning sir , being this far from them require more time and power, sir, but i m using all i can to get all the info you requested"

a few minute later, major Dangerfield arrived on the Bridge. she looked as cold as ever , though she seem a bit edgy...

"captain , i request our marines to stay on the station, we occupy it now, and it seem in perfect order of fonctionality, and a thourough examination show no explosive or self destruct active, we can use the Station to cover your departure, if we see the hostile move against you!"

"you d be incenerated inside the Station in minutes! the ship outthere still outgun this Cruiser, i cant allow you to be killed, even if you and your command are trained and ready for such action..."

"exactly Sir, We re trained and it s our duty to cover you and the diplomatic cruiser, you have priority over our safety, and it s your duty to see the Troth arrive to it s meeting, Sir!"

at that point, Crimshaw knew she had made all the point need to enforce the obvious decision.

"alright Major, then take all the marines to secure and defend the station and have it manned. the rest will stay here to help defend the ship."

"1000 marine are enough for a 4 shifts manning of the station, and enough to defend it, if we were to be overrun, i d self destruct it" said Dangerfield, matter-of-factly.

"i ll leave the remaining fighters here for support as well as the 2 damaged runabout, you can rebuild them and use them once they re repair. "

"good luck Sir, we ll hold the Station as long as we can , hopefully till you return, Sir."

With that, major Dangerfield returned on the station, with half the marines following her.

"Captain, all decks report ready stations, all clear, ready to leave the station, Sir" said Pool and Redgrave.

"Comm, tell The Troth to move to our starboard side (right) while we ll take position to shield it. then we ll proceed at max impulse into the nebula and and to our destination."

"have 20 fighters and the 2 damage runabout put in the station holding bay."

a few minutes later.. the Black Dagger and the Troth were moving away from the station.


Actions and resumé:

1) move the Black Dagger and the Troth toward their destination at full impulse. the Black Dagger shielding the Troth from direct attacks.

2) keep all weapons charges and have the scanner do active scanning of the area.

3) get a full sensor sweep of the peacekeeper cruiser and detail analysis of
sensor frequency, shield output powers, weapons signatures, engins output.

4) remind the Troth to be ready to warp out of here if hostile close in. to go back to aanka.
